  1. nothing as of yet I'm afraid. It does take a long time and changing case officers cannot help the process as what one exeperienced person sees and knows is acceptable a new person may not see as sufficient as they may not know the system. The hardest part for me was getting some references from companies that have since gone through the hoop. I mean what do I do there? When you try and ask a question and get no answers you just have to guess what they want. It's all paper work etc etc. i sent it all off again a few weeks ago so will hopefully hear something's. Back around April? Who knows. They will probably want my inside leg measurement and proof that I have bones in my body. I feel these guys know more about me than my wife does!! oh well hopefully it will all be worth it.
  2. This has been very much my experience. I have had contact from 3 different case officers. Not too sure how this can be better for the visa process as like you said the officer may have a different view and understanding from person to person. The only thing that was worrying me was the fact my case officer couldn't spell some of the words and seemed to have struggle with proper sentences. I know it sounds petty but if this person who cannot spell and write is determining my future then I should at least be able to contact him/her and ask a question. But not much I can do. ( checking for spelling and punctuation ....... and send ) n
  3. I only have 7 days left until my requested information is needed. And trying to get hold of my case officer is pretty much impossible. I'll send of everything I have and hope that will do. They may then ask for it. But they only give 28 days for fursther informaion so I don't know how they will expect me to get one in that time if you say it takes 60 days
  4. Ok thanks that's great. I'll try and get one of these. Surely they know that I've provided evidence as I've had to transfer my qualification to the Australian equivalent. In which I had to provide a lot of details about the same stuff. But not quite as much detail I suppose.
  5. I Havnt recieved anything through the post from anybody as it's all being done online. Do you think this letter will be helpful?
  6. What do you suggest I do for my invoices? As I don't have them in word files or documents? They are just my details on an email to the contractor I work for. Should I screen shot them? Or just copy and past them? Or will I have supplied enough with all my payment details?
  7. Thanks for the info. Very interesting. They've also requested 8 years worth on invoices?? As a subcontractor I don't really invoice as such I just said an email with what's owed and my payment details and that's it. I was also employed 8 years ago and never invoice at all as I was on a wage. These are all questions I've tried to ask them but with nobody getting back to me so I just send all the info I have hoping it will be enough. I suppose these are the problems you don't have when using a migration agent! Serves me right for trying to save a few bob!
  8. Hi, I've gone to te bank and got 8 years worth of payments and I've asked my accountant to send me everything he has on me for 8 years. I don't know what more I can actually do. but hopefully this will be fine.
  9. I'm in the process of applying for my 189 visa as a carpenter. I've recieved a email asking for more information about my self employment history and they want 8 years worth of weekly invoices!!! This cannot be right. Firstly I'm only claiming for 5 years experience and secondly I don't have 8 years worth of invoices. I've tried emailing them but Havnt had a reply. They also don't actually seem to read what I send as they seem to ask for things that have already been attached and provided. Not too sure what I can do. I'm just sending them the invoices I have and all the tax details I have and hoping for the best. Is there anything I can do to get a reply? Or a phone number? any help would be good.

  11. I asked a company and they said $1200 a week plus overtime ect my wife has got a scholarship which pays her $30000 tax free a year to study and we will be renting out our house at home bringing in a further $1200 a month. So I've kind of done the maths but just need an idea if it doable. You are right we don't want anything big or expensive just something with transport links to lidcombe and Bondi really as that's where I'll be based.
  12. I've already approached a few companies who said that they will take me on as I've had my qualification changed to the Australian equivalent. You may want to check if you need to do this as a plumber. it's time consuming and expensive but you won't be able to work without a relevant qualification. That's if it's the same as carpentry. Havnt reqlly looked at suburbs yet. Waiting for my 189 to come through at the moment so when it's confirmed I'll take a closer look
  13. thanks for the reply. i will need a car / van as I'm a carpenter and getting my tools around on a moped or by bus or train will be challenging especially if working out of Sydney. That 15k is the minimum we would have were hoping for nearer 20k for start up costs. 100k$ would be after tax if that makes a difference??? What sort of areas do you suggest as my wife will be at the Sydney university campus near lidcombe? Thanks
  14. Hi guys just need either a wake up call / reality check or a thumbs up or thumbs down. myself and my wife are looking to move to Sydney area in October this year ( she has a scholarship for a phd in physio at Sydney uni and I'm a carpenter ) Between us we will be bringing in about $100k a year and will have $15k ish to set up with We will be renting a small apartment 500/700$ week and having a small car. Is this a realistic amount of money to live on? We know it won't be a lavish lifestyle and we've accepted that. But the opportunity is onece in a lifetime especially at our age 31 with no kids. It feels like it's now or never. If its not doable then know is the time to knock it on the head. Any thoughts would be much appreciated
  15. That's great thanks ill proceed and wait for my officer to ask for them
  16. hello, im after a piece of information regarding my health check and crb checks, ive had my EOI accepted and have filled in the application for ( carpenter from the uk, 189 visa, 30 years old with wife 31 ) at the moment I don't have any crb checks or medical health checks as it hasn't asked me for any as far or told me where to get it from. Will my application be rejected, but still charged, if I send it off? Or will they just ask me to provide this later on when my application is being processed?? This would be a great help if you/anybody could give me some info.
