  1. Ah nice! Yeah my sister has been over there 10 years but spent the first couple of years in SA, her kids go to Saint Stephens collage it's a private school and fairly expensive and has a long waiting list I think, but when we were with her in August we passed a few state school that from the outside looked really nice. Good luck and keep in touch !

  2. My wife is a occupational psychologist so hopefully that, I'm in hospitality but want to move out of it this year and experience something else as that's all I've done for 16 years. My sister lives in helensvale we visited them last year, also spent some time is NSW and cairns while there. We have 2 boys 3 & 8. What are your kids feeling about the move ?

  3. Yes we have signed up with them too we are using John , he is fab really helpful , we are going on 189 visa í*½í¸ƒ

Yeah we have warrick and we are doing 189, although they did suggest state nomination would be easier to achieve but we're limited to SA or NT, half of the point of us going is to be closer to family and they are in the Gold Coast, so throwing caution to the wind and trying the "harder" option in warrick's opinion. If it doesn't work out then we maybe left with the other option just means essentially moving twice which we don't want to do for costs and taking the kids out of school again etc

  5. Hi guys just wanting to get an idea of cost to shop out our dog (a cockerpoo) to Australia and the length of the time they spent in quarantine .....and does anyone recommend a company to use ?

    John

  6. Nice but very expensive and strictly speaking not Manchester. For your budget you'd be looking at either a terraced house or an apartment - I have to say this does look nice - http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/42772643?search_identifier=75d08e119b15cbe8c8c17e4bc47008a6#zYoIdDgMwgUjJPSc.97

I have a friend that lives in Stretford - I've not been but she is very happy there and there always seems to be a lot going on. I would think that would fit your lifestyle and budget.

    Something like this maybe? http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/42902617?search_identifier=ba167d7cdda3f7bfb0f7fcf16fe49bee

Well know but he would still be in the tram line into Manchester but not central....was thinking somewhere not "red brick terrace houses".

Good luck Manchester is a great place to live, and that's coming from a scouser! (I could be shot for such careless talk)

  8. Two of my boys worked in hospitality. One of the places hired and fired chefs and restaurant managers all the time. All were on a casual basis so they could get rid of them if they felt they were under performing. The other son became an apprentice chef for a guy who use to work with Gordon Ramsay unfortunately one day he turned in to work and everything was locked up it turned out that morning they had declared bankruptcy. He worked at Maccas for a while but that was $8 an hour back then.

There always seems jobs available for chefs but it seems very high turnover.

Same the world over though....I very much doubt this is a problem with location it's the industry!

  9. I can't compare as I'm still in the uk ....but surly in 15 years he's come up against the same in the uk?!? It's the same here we are treated like **** 4 days out of 5 and casual contracts are always the same. I've worked all over the uk and Europe for the last 15 years and sometimes things are good other times they are crap! I'm sure he'll find something he gets on with.....

  10. If you have the option of a permanent visa either via yourself or your partner then you really ought to take that option, especially with a family.

'Sponsorship' typically means a temporary visa for 4 years so is not a permanent move to Australia & that is hard with a family. Plus the 4 years isn't guaranteed, if you can't stand the job (or they can't stand you) & the job ends then you have to find another sponsor or leave in 60 days.

Whereas some occupations that is relatively low risk (e.g. nursing, teaching) I would think the restaurant trade is a bit more volatile.

Some employers say they will offer PR sponsorship after 4 years bit it's a hell of a risk and they are under no obligation to do so.

Cafe or Restaurant Manager is on the CSOL list so is valid for sponsorship - there is no easy way to find a sponsor, it's really no different to finding a job in the UK - search vacancies, cold call and knock on doors (a visit can be fruitful but by no means guaranteed)

Do investigate if any states are sponsoring Cafe or Restaurant Manager and if any other states are sponsoring Hotel Managers - assuming you could pass a skills assessment.

What does your wife do? It may be an easier option.

She is an occupational psychologist with 10 years experience, Msc in occupational psychology and bachelors in psychology. It was just another option really ! We spoke to an agent who suggested our easiest option would be state sponsorship for her but the only states are SA or NT, which is not a deal breaker as i believe after 2 years we could move but that involves up rooting the kids again and obviously the cost! He said 189 was not out of the question just might be more difficult to obtain .

  11. If you were a qualified chef you would have a good chance. Other options are to look at the large hotel chains as they often bring staff in from overseas as managers

Oh really? From what I have heard Restaraunt managers in most areas are in sort demand ? Have I been miss informed?

  12. Hi John,

If you would like to live in Victoria, have a look at:

    http://www.liveinvictoria.com

    Specifically:

    http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/visas-and-immigrating/visa-nomination-occupation-lists/visa-nomination-occupation-list-for-victoria#.WIdt3yiw7Kc

ANZCO Code 141311 (Hotel or Motel Manager)

I note there are some beefy T&C's specific to the code, but you may well be eligible, for this 190 Skilled Nominated (Permanent Resident) Visa.

    B

    Thanks Beaty,

It's very confusing I find ! Ideally Gold Coast would be our preference as my sister already lives there, part of the reason for us wanting to move is to be closer to family as we both don't really have any close family in the uk .

    John

  13. Hello folks,

Looking at maybe moving my family out to oz, my wife was looking at maybe be the primary visa applicant but maybe easier for me from reading a few bits and bobs.

I've got 14 years experience in different types of hospitality at various different levels .

Where is the best place to look for businesses offering sponsorship?

    Kind regards

    John

  14. I'm thinking of training to be a lock smith!

I would not be the prime visa applicant but looking to change my job and wanted to train in the uk as a lock smith before a planned move to oz in maybe 2 years .

How would my skills transfer to oz from the uk /what would I need to do once I arrive to enable me to work ?

  15. We are using immigration2oz too and have found John and his team to be excellent too. We started the process for a 189 visa middle of March and are now just waiting on the result of our medicals, then hopefully all being well, a grant.

    Good luck in your application!

Exciting g times....but nervous ones to! Good luck
