  1. You can get the ball rolling by following this link https://www.anzscosearch.com/sol or https://www.anzscosearch.com/sol

look under ANZSCO unit group 3332 for plasterers and unit group 34111 for electrician. The occupation is also available on the SOL.

You may be eligible for visas 189/190 and 489.

For these subclass of visas, you can only apply after you submitted an expression of interest, got an invite to apply. You need to nominate an occupation from either the Skilled occupation list or Consolidated Skilled Occupation List. As an electrician and plasterer, you can nominate either one of the occupations. Have your skill assessed by Trades Recognition Australia. You would also need to pass the point test. Currently the passing mark is 60 points. Whilst it is not necessary for you to do the English language Test if you are a uk passport holder, You might want to consider doing one to boost your score on the point test.

    Hope this helps.

correction from my previous post. I was meant to say if you are a UK passport holder, you need not have to do an English language test. U might want to do it just to boost your score on the point test.

  3. Perhaps the OP does not have many thousands of dollars to spend as an international student, re-training in Australia?

The OP can re-train in the UK at a much cheaper cost. To the OP, train in something you love though. Only become a nurse if it is sincerely what you want to do, it's a tough job.

Re: the migration agent's advice, you suggest the OP trains here, but you neglect to mention that does not necessarily mean at all that she will get a visa at the end of it, after spending thousands!

This is not in any case a professional advice here.

  4. Hi i have just joined this forum and looking for some advice. My parents, brother and sister all immigrated to queesland 9 years ago. I was already married and settled and never had the urge but now I am panicking that if I don't hurry up it will be too late. I work in sales and my husband works for network rail so neither of us are on the skills in demand list. My question is what would be best for myself to re train as? I was thinking nurse would be a good bet as it never seems to be short of demand. Has anyone actually spent years changing career just to get into oz?

I strongly suggest before you want to retrain yourself before coming to Australia, is to find out if your qualification is going to be recognised in Australia, if you are thinking of working in Australia. I know gaining entry into an Australian university with your prior learning in a tertiary education institution in most countries generally is not really a problem. However, employment in Australia...your overseas qualification needs to be assessed by a relevant assessing authority.

Why not consider getting yourself retrain in Australia instead?

  5. Hi,

My boyfriend can apply for citizenship on 21/11/2016.

Can anyone tell me how long the process usually takes - he will be applying in Sydney.

Also are you allowed leave the country before the test or ceremony?

I am living back home in Ireland as my mother is sick and would like to know if he can come back before the ceremony as the ceremony could be a while.

    Really appreciate any information.

    Thanks

citizenship ceremony approximately will happen within 6 months from the time your brother submitted his application.

yes, he can travel overseas, make sure he has a valid resident return visa to return to Australia. He needs to travel on his current passport from his country of origin.

Best for him to inform the citizenship information hotline dept before travelling overseas.

    Happy flying

  6. Hi everyone.

    Just a quick question,

Are student visa holders able to volunteer over and above the allowed 20 hours of work a week? For example, if I worked 20 hours at a job, and 10 hours volunteering for the Red Cross?

I understand you cant just "volunteer" for work that someone would usually be paid for, but would something like the Red Cross, Royal Flying Doctor, etc. be allowed? They wouldn't be paying an Australian PR/Citizen in the same situation so I'm thinking this is ok, but want to be on the safe side.

    Thanks

you may do volunteer work on a student visa that is not counted towards your 40 hours of work per fortnight if

    1) your main purpose in Australia is to study and any amount of volunteer work you do remains incidental to this

    2) the work involved would not be undertaken by an Australian resident in return for wages

    3) the work is genuinely voluntary for a not for profit organisation and no wage, cash or any payment is received in return for any of the work you did.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Hi guys,

Im new here and im here because i need your kindly help. I got a few question which confusing me. I hope you guys can help me out with it because your answer can help me to make a decision whether i should take the assessment or pending it.

For your information, i'm planning to assess for sofware engineering.

    Here is my few question

    1. I was graduated from IT major with Bachelor degree with 4 years working experiences (in total). Do you think i can pass the ACS Skill Assessment? Or i have to wait 1 year later so my experience become 5 years?

    2. For the ACS Assessment, if my working experience meet the suitability criteria but not eligible for immigration point, will i fail in my whole skill assessment? Or i just can not claim the point but i can pass the skill assessment?

    3. My last question, if my collected point is 60, do you think i can get state sponsorship and PR? Or i have to collect more point?

I am very appreciate all of your comment and help. Also thanks before for your time

No one can tell you for sure whether or not you will pass your skill assessment. Its a case by case basis. everyone's situation and skill level is different.

Whether or not with 60 points you will get an invite to apply, this is again on a case by case basis. just apply and see how you go. Whilst 60 points is the passing mark for visa 189/190. The higher point , the higher chance of getting an invite. Getting the required number of points does not guarantee you an invitation. It also depends upon availability of spaces within the selected ANZSCO occupation quota (ceiling) and also how competitive your score is. Invitations are normally issued to those with the highest score.

  8. If your mother in law is thinking of applying for visitor 600 visa, she will need the following

    1) provide her a statement that you are prepared to cover all costs including travel, accommodation, and food.

    2) you need to provide the proof of your financial capability, bank accounts, payslips, rate notices etc to support her whilst she is here.

    3) evidence of sufficient funds, such as personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, taxation records or credit card limit.

    3) a compelling reason for her to return at the end of the visit

    4) you may need to provide a bond, that's to ensure she doesn't overstay her visa so you only get the bond back when she's left the country. i know someone who wanted her mother in law to come on a visitor visa, she was asked to pay a bond of A$50,000.

    5) she completes 1418 and you complete 1149 forms. there are questions there on the form which will require you to fill information on financial evidences

If you have an unusual situation and you are really struggling with the application, I strongly recommend you seek professional help from a registered migration agent. Better to have someone lighten the load for you than going all these struggle yourself. I can understand how overwhelming it can be. I have been through similar experience just like you.

  11. Hi Mavi

Whether or not an aged care organisation can sponsor an assistant in nursing for 457 visa would depend on whether or not the organisation is an approved standard business sponsor. the sponsor must meet all the requirements for approval and comply with all the obligations.

Similarly, the specific requirements you must meet will differ depending on which stream of subclass of 457 an applicant is intending to apply for.

  12. May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for an assessment of your visa prospects?

    Hi Walker25

I agree with Westly. If the prospect of your visa application is going to be low, then you will be wasting your time and money. The whole process is going to be more frustrating for you and your husband.

  13. Hi

    Hope this helps.

The general residence requirement is based on the amount of time you have lived in Australia.

You must meet all of the following:

    • have lived in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying
    • must have been a permanent resident for the 12 months immediately before making an application and not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, during the four year period, including no more than 90 days in the 12 months before applying.

  14. Generally, the employer nomination and the visa application are lodges on a via online application process. once the employer nomination is lodged, you should have a transaction reference number, which would allow an immediate lodgment of the visa application.

  15. There is a little more to it than just meeting the points, passing a sills assessment for one thing!

Thanks Nemesis, you are absolutely right. Any intending applicants prior to submitting an expression of interest for 189/190/489 should obtain a satisfactory skill assessment, apart from the English language test.

so hard to remember to include everything you want to say in a forum.

  16. Hi HelloFrenchie

Your question- marriage or not is a personal one. From an immigration point of view, getting married with your partner would save you all the hassles of having to prove your relationship with him. All it takes would be a marriage certificate and you can certainly come to Australia with your partner. However a marriage certainly means more than just coming to Australia with him, isn't it?

Alternatively, depending on how old you are, if you are under 50 years old and has university qualifications and possess the necessary skills, you can consider skill migration (visa subclass 189/190/ 489). I am not sure which part of Australia your partner is going to be working in. However, you would have to do a point test (scoring at least 60 points) before being able to submit an expression of interest. Only if u possess the skills and qualifications, then you will be invited to make an application.

    Hope this helps
