  1. Hi Do I need to get an AFP Check for a 189 visa? I lived in Australia for around 10 months the total period was 12 months July to July however I had a break for 2 months to go home to England. The advice on the website seems like it contradicts itself. Kind regards Ben In order for your visa or citizenship application to be processed, you need to provide evidence of your 'good character'. Good character covers the 'enduring moral qualities of a person' and whether they are likely to uphold and obey the Australian laws while in Australia, and other commitments they may make through the Australian Citizenship Pledge. All visa and citizenship applicants are required to provide a penal clearance certificate or police check from each country visited, if: you lived or travelled outside Australia since the age of 18 years or over; and the total time spent outside Australia added up to 12 months or more; and the time spent in any one country was more than 90 days; or you are requested to do so by the department. For more information and country-specific instructions on how to obtain a police clearance, see Character and police certificate requirements [h=3]For Visa applications[/h]If you have lived in Australia for a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years (these 12 months are calculated cumulatively, not consecutively) you are required to provide an Australian Federal Police (AFP) clearance by completing aNational Police Check Online Application Form If you wish to post the form, you can request for a form by calling the AFP helpdesk on +61 2 6202 3333. The AFP website contains details of the fees for National Police Checks [h=3]For Citizenship applications[/h]Persons applying for Australian citizenship aged 18 years and over must satisfy the 'good character' requirements. Any applicant for citizenship by conferral, whether under or over 18 years of age, cannot be approved for citizenship in certain circumstances relating to criminal offences. 2. Congratulations. I have a visa submitted but I need to attach my documents in online immi. Does anyone know if these documents have to be verified, such as my birth certificate, passport etc. My qualifications were verified as I needed verification for the skills assessment and Australian qualification. Any help much appreciated. I've had a quick look but I've not used the site much and can't find the info.
  3. Hi Ric, I've just received your information and it's exactly what I needed to know. Thank-you for your friendly response and taking the time to help me out. I will be sure to use your business if I need any help with my visa.
  4. Hi I have just submitted my EOI for a 189 visa fitter general. I'm not quite sure if the information I have put down is correct. For secondary education I have a certificate 3 and when asked for the details I have been asked for the country of the institution that gave me the certificate. I did the skills assessment in London however the institution is in Australia. Do I need to go mark the institution location as United Kingdom or Australia?

  6. Hi this is my first post and I'm sure this subject or something similar has been covered, but after searching I can't find anything. So apologies in advance if that's the case! So my issue is with my EOI for a subclass 189 skilled independent for fitter (general). My first stumbling block is the secondary education section. I have assumed that the only qualification I need to list there is my certificate 3 in mechanical engineering. When I click add for adding my details a pop up screen comes up with education history as the title. The boxes inside the pop up box are listed below and my answers are also given below. Qualification- AQF Certificate III Course name- Certificate 3 in Engineering Institution- Engineering Training Australia Country of institution- Australia? or United Kingdom ( qualification was from the down under centre in London but assuming Engineering Training Australia is in Australia ) Campus- there's no address on the certificate and after googling there are 4 locations in Australia? If I enter UK in the drop down menu from country of institution the campus box and postcode box disappear Postcode- The confusion is with Country of institution and Campus. My second problem is the next page which is the skills assessment page. at the top of the page I entered fitter general in the first box. The next box is 'name of assessing authority' a drop down box. I rang the office in London that issued my certificates and they said the option should either be Visa Skills, Gimball Group or Australian Construction Training Services. But non of these are in the drop down menu. The only thing there is Trades Recognition Australia. On the bottom of my skilled migration assessment result it says- 'Australian Construction Training Services has been contracted by the commonwealth of Australia represented by the department of education and training (the department) through trades recognition australia (TRA) to conduct skills assessments in certain countries on its behalf. As Australian construction services has been contracted by the commonwealth of australia for the purposes of conducting skills assessments, that assessment will be considered as assessment by TRA for the purposes of the Migration Regulations 1994' So that last query seems pretty self explanatory but I wanted to make sure. Hope that is clear enough to understand. Thanks in advance for anyone that takes the time to read this and hep out Ben
