Thanks for your input guys Electrician is an occupation eligible for sponsorship I have already checked. I am coming with the intention of eventually coming back but if I AM able to get myself a license when I am over there then I would of course like to stay. - I believe a WHV Can be extended to two years by completing so many months farm work or other occupations in specific categories.

Hi guys, I'm Russ, 24 and have recently decided to hop over to Melbourne! I have tried to plan things as best I can but would appreciate any help from people more experienced in the matter than myself! It can be a bit daunting! I will be going over approx 3 weeks from now - going to book a hotel for 3 days so I have somewhere to go upon arrival. Then during my stay find a house to rent and possibly a car/van too. (Have been looking at for sale prices and they just seem massively extortionate for what you get over there!) I have amassed around $20k to get me a few months rent/car/living expenses etc I am an electrician over here so would be looking to get work doing the same over there, although i am coming over on a working holiday visa so really need to find a sponsor ASAP ( have made arrangements to get all my tools shipped over once I find an address) Reaistically, what are the chances of this in melbourne? I am aware that my qualifications amount to next to nothing in australia even though our regulations are more strict. Hoping to find work as an electricians assistant and go from there! Finally - I need to make some friends!! Haha does anyone want to meet up for a beer?! Thinking of going to the Brunswick area of Melbourne as an old school mate of mine lives there and says its not too bad an area! Would really appreciate any advice/help people can give me Kind regards Russ
