  1. It took 20 days to obtain my son's bridging visa after I got him added to my 186 application. I think ur MA is right!

Thank you Nasir! I'm just so impatient to get the ball rolling over here...imagine me waiting the 6+ months to have it processed!

  2. Hi everyone! first of all I'm so grateful for this blog, it's so helpful and everyone is so supportive. My MA lodged my nomination and visa application together on Monday. The acknowledgement from Immi came through for the nomination only. I have not heard ANYTHING re: acknowledgement of visa application (I heard that you get the bridging visa and Medicare letter within hours). It's now been 4 days! My MA says there is a backlog in the system, but I can't check myself. Is this something that's happened to anyone before? I need my Medicare Card ASAP! Thanks!

  3. is there difference between HR and LR?which countries are considered HR?

Good question, I looked this up myself yesterday. Basically if you're from a Low-Risk Country, you are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority Visa (Tourist Visa which allows you to stay for up to one year for three months at a time or for business visitor purposes). People coming from HR countries cannot apply for this type of visa. When processing PR visas, applications from LR countries are sometimes processed faster because of the reciprocal Electronic Authority attached to these countries' passports (easier to track information digitally, therefore the processing time can be quicker). However, right now on the Immi website under "Processing Times" for 187 or 186 visas, they do not differentiate between LR and HR countries for processing times (sometimes they do though, so keep checking back!).

Low Risk Countries are the following:

    • Andorra

    • Austria

    • Belgium

    • Brunei

    • Canada

    • Denmark

    • Finland

    • France

    • Germany

    • Greece

    • Hong Kong (SAR of China)

    • Iceland

    • Ireland

    • Italy

    • Japan

    • Liechtenstein

    • Luxembourg

    • Malaysia

    • Malta

    • Taiwan*

    • The Netherlands

    • United Kingdom—British Citizen

    • United Kingdom—British National (Overseas)

    • United States

High Risk countries are all the countries not on this list.
