  1. So far so good, as mentioned above, she got an intern role in a local pharmacy within a week of arrival and just heard back from aphra stipulating 1 month supervised intern/pre registration/work before they will provide full registration, which is the minimum time and will be required to take both oral exams to by fully registered, this will vary case by case and based on her having 10 + years as a senior hospital clinical pharmacist in the UK

Thank you very much for the updates!!

I'm planning to take the exam in December to give myself more time to prepare.

Congratulations! ? Sounds promising, I hope she likes the working environment there! ? May I know which visa your missus is on to carry out the internship?

She's adjusting to how the dispensing system works here and mentioned it will take 3 weeks to be back at the level she was in London.  Colleagues are friendly but too busy to be chatting and everyone leaves at 6 on the dot.  She is here as my dependent and i am here on a 189.

No, I am a qualified accountant.  Will be in Perth, but not for about 18 months.  I expect similar issues though, and Perth if anything is a smaller market, so I already gearing myself up.

Yeah, i did manage to get a few phone interviews in London for accountant roles in Perth but in the end had to change plans and move to Sydney where i got an offer whilst still in London.  Suppose having no kids makes a difference as we can always up and move after we get the relevant oz experience.

  4. General update for would be pharmacists to OZ, missus just arrived last week and managed to secure an internship with a local chemist in the Sydney CBD, which she applied for via Seek just 2 weeks ago, although, they seems to have put a lot of weight on our rented location in their decision to hire her.  Confusion now over the duration of her internship to gain full recognition as both the APC and PBA were both unable to ascertain the time she requires under stream B.

  5. well, seems like the next step is to get any form of work and your new line manager will be your supervisor.  The charter will then decide how long would be deemed relevant and also if you need to sit an oral exam after your supervised period.  i would recommend doing past papers...just that the model answers are outdated, so don't get so hung up on them and just refer to the latest BNF for the correct answer..if that makes sense

  6. She found the calculation to be a breeze and somewhat managed to spot the essay topics correctly, so its the actual MCQ questions that she found somewhat tricky in terms of navigating through the PC and coupled with the fact that she only studied the BNF and not the OZ equivalent might contribute to her finding the MCQ hard.  She also mentioned that the past papers were outdated in terms of being up to date with the BNF/OZ equivalent that led to some furious muttering as she was checking through her answers

    Hi Guys

Looking to sit the exam in 6 weeks.. is this enough time to revise?! starting to panic now

Missus just sat the paper last week, she was in full study mode for 4 weeks (no leave, just burnt midnight oil) and did all the past papers and mentioned that she thought the actual paper was still quite hard and kinda weird as its done on a computer so going back to previous questions was kinda awkward..  should be ok for 6 weeks i guess...

With my visa being a spouse one, rather than highly skilled or sponsored, i figured I might not need them to say that I have worked as a pharmacist. Easy enough to add in though. Thanks for the advice!

I think you still need to be assessed, my missus is dependent on me as the main applicant but still needs to sit an exam in the next month to be registered with the charter.  She has been working in the hospital for 10 years plus and i think she whizzed though some of practice questions rather quickly. The deadline for the next sitting is closing soon so you might want to consider registering...not cheap thought, i believe she was moaning it was something like AUD1,700
