I received 489 visa for NSW Far South coast occupation software engineer. now finding it difficult to get accommodation in far south coast... please can anyone guide me on visa conditions for 489 can i stay in other state regional areas? will this cause any problems when i apply for PR if i stay in other state regional area like adelaide?

Just thought lets share our experience on State Sponsorship for people with 55 + 5(SS) points. As I can see chances are less for people with 55 points not getting state sponsorship..

Anyone got Invited with 55 points for SS in the last month or so? What are the chances in future?

It was nine years ago we did it, then it was £750 for the ACS assessment but that was an RPL so much more to it, I can't remember the overall cost but it was a couple of £1000, I don't remember the URL but I'm sure Google will find them, they are based in Edinburgh - but you don't need to go there.

I don't see why not, database designer is a specialisation of Software Engineer according to the ANZSCO code

The trick is to write a job description that matches the ACS description of the code as closely as possible without looking like it is copied from there and to ensure your referee gives concrete example of your work that matches each of the bullet points.

 

There are agents that can specifically help with this if you want professional advice and I would recommend it for ACS skills assessments, we used Overseas Emigration and I am happy to recommend.

• Leading Application Device Services Level 3 escalated support team to support SQL Server Databases, web based applications, Standard Operating Environment delivery and Anti-Virus.

• Conducting Daily Status review for on time delivery with SLA adherence for SQL Server Databases, web based applications, Standard Operating Environment Delivery and Anti-Virus.

• Lead the team focusing on continuous improvement of products and offerings

• Write Scripts and Program to reduce manual maintenance work and promote automation.

Your skills assessment must support the occupation code you are applying under. If you are going to apply as a Systems Analyst, you need a skills assessment for that occupation.

I have got positive ACS as Sys Admin but would like to go for review application as System Engineer with new updated Reference (for all employment) and resume?, is it possible?

One possibility is that although it is accepted that the MSc Computing has an ICT Major, ACS have made a judgement that the Software Engineering role was not relevant to the System Administrator occupation and therefore your relevant work experience for skills assessment purposes did not commence until October 2006 when you commenced the System Administrator job.

 

In addition they must have made a judgment that your ICT Major was not related closely to your nominated occupation, and hence under their assessment guidelines you require four years of relevant work experience, in combination with your MSc to be considered skilled.

Therefore your four years of qualifying work experience was completed in Oct 2010, thus making Oct 2010 your 'skills met' date. It then follows only work experience obtained since Oct 2010 falls in to the category of professional experience which earns points under the General Points Test.

 

If on the other hand had they made a judgement that your ICT Major was closely related to the nominated role then you only need to complete two years of qualifying work experience and you would have received a deemed 'skills met' date of Oct 2008.

 

I suggest you follow up with them at assessment@acs.org.au and quote your reference number. They should be able to clarify the issue and may recommend a formal review.

Did you work part time during any of that time?

no both companies i worked full time. In the reference letters its mentioned employed full time but number of hours is not mentioned in the reference letters.

Number of hours i.e 40 hours per week is mentioned in the Appointment letter of both companies.

Any thoughts 6 years deduction is a lot considering i had a IT Major MSc degree.

My ACS assessment is positive but they have deducted 6 years from experience trying to understand why

MSc Computing( Software Development Pathway Out of 8 modules 2 are related to IT Infrastructure and Database, 6 module related to Software Development and Design): Completed 2001

March 2005 to Sept 2006: Software Engineer ( 1.5 years)

Oct 2006 to till date: System Administrator (9 years 9 months)

Applied ACS under System Administrator Occupation

Received reply with 6 years deduction only 5 years were considered by Oct 2010 onwards. Anyone can help me why such a big deduction? Any thoughts why March 2005 to Sept 2006: Software Engineer ( 1.5 years) was not considered and why only experience from Oct 2010 was considered?

Presumably you cannot be a systems administrator and a systems engineer at the same time. So would you use a different set of experience for the second assessment?

I am stuck in same boat got ACS evaluated as Sys Admin with total 55 points now need SS for Australia visa, dont know what to do as none of the states look to be sponsoring System Adminintrator without job offer. After my ACS evaluation is done for Sys Admin can i immediately apply as System Analyst?

In the last six months all the applications I lodged to ACS took 2 weeks, one took 3 weeks but that was a complex case though, and one took 3 weeks because it was lodged on new year's eve during ACS annual holiday

1. How much bank balance is needed for Applicant + Spouse + 1 child

2. My brother and me jointly own a house, how can i show this as an asset for financial capacity

3. I have a car can this also be added in the net financial capacity

4. any other assets can be added.

What would be my total experience counted as?

How much points i can get for this work ex?

Is 55 points with age 41 good enough to apply for State Nomination for a person in IT? What would be my chances?
