  1. Thanks Diane and Bibbs for alerting me about the "situation on the ground". Much appreciated. Just to clarify, we weren't arguing (I wasn't, at least). Was just trying to rationalize the information available online before I approach a Migration agent. However, I guess messages get lost in translation, especially on online forums.
  2. Thanks JXJ. Wrussell, I've looked at https://www.anzscosearch.com/ and there are more states that will sponsor a mechanical engineer. please see below. Actually, I am an integrity engineer in the oil and gas industry. For example, WA has this on their website as a prerequisite for state nomination: "Have at least one year's work experience within Australia or three years' work experience overseas within the last 10 years in your nominated or closely related occupation." My current occupation would be considered as "closely related" to Mechanical Engineer. Regards
  3. Hi, Thanks for your reply. My degree isn't recognized. That, I'm sure of. Hence, the CDR route. I would have enough points under these circumstances: Age - 30 points IELTS - 20 points (if I get an 8 in all) Qualifications - 15 (assuming positive qualification assessment - Mechanical engineer) Overseas work experience - 0 (because I won't be doing a relevant employment experience assessment. However, if I decide to do it, then my current job profile fits industrial engineer more closely) Therefore, total is already 65 and I can go via the 189 or 190 route. With respect to the 190 visa, Mechanical Engineers have more scope since most states would sponsor a mechanical engineer but not an industrial engineer even though they are closely related occupations. So, I think it would be better to have an assessment as a mechanical engineer. It's a matter of having more options.
  4. Hello All, Hope everyone's having a good day. Its my first post on here and I must say the forum is pretty awesome. My question is: I need to do a CDR for Engineers Australia. The confusion I'm facing is that I have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. However, my work experience (5+ years) seems to be a closer match to the ANZSCO specification for Industrial Engineer. I would like to apply as a Mechanical Engineer as it has more scope than an Industrial Engineer. Do I need to do a a Relevant Employment Assessment (I could secure enough points without it) or just a Standard CDR. And if I do a Standard CDR, should I only include tasks from my "educational program" in the career episodes or can I base my career episode(s) on my 5+ years of experience or should I mix both? Hopefully someone understands :mask: Thanks
