This is off topic kind of, we are having to move to Adelaide and not Melbourne our first preference, so could you tell me what you thought of Adelaide when you did live there? What schools or areas you liked? And when you did arrive did you manage to get a home rental or how does it work?

Sounds good! I kind of wish we were doing the 189 for the timescale but we really really want to go to QLD. Is it the first time doing an English test? My partner has done the Ielts twice and got 7s, was half a mark off getting 8's in all the sections last time! So frustrating! Was going to try PTE but it looks very different and he isn't sure it's for him. Hope all goes well with yours [emoji4]

We’re doing it through an agent for 5 of us 2 adults 3 children on 189 to Vic. Just getting all our paperwork together for the skills test. English test booked for 17/04 PTE Academic.

Just wanting advice for those of you who have moved from the U.K. to OZ

What did you do for medical records? Do you pay for them from your local surgery or do they electronically get transferred to doctor surgery you choose when you move over?

I noticed that kids have to give proof of immunisations on their enrolment form. These are all at our doctor surgery in the U.K.

Still in the U.K. hoping to move over by end of the year.

Hi all, about to start our visa and we have been getting quotes from different agents. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced agent? Prices are different from everyone I have got them from. Thanks

We went through an agent and awaiting the final stage outcome... although the agent has been helpful, all the information is online so if you have the time to go through the Aus immigration site and prepare your documents...etc .... I'd recommend you do it on your own and save the cash.

I personally used an agent and I think this reduced the stress for us. Some people use an agent for everything and some for a part such as the skills assessment, we initially agreed to the latter but were so pleased with how professional our agent had been we decided to continue with her. It's good to have someone on the end of the phone and although PIO is great sometimes you do get conflicting information. I think I was too scared to make a mistake which would cost me hundreds of pounds!

My brother did a subclass 190 with Victoria sponsorship. He has set up a site called 190oz.com wth his experiences (not sure if it is finished yet). May help you if you are going it alone.

 

An RPL is recognition of prior learning. It is an assessment of my qualification as they don't recognise my qualification (They being the Australian Computer Society). Unless you are coming under an ICT profession you probably won't need to deal with this
