  1. Hi I hope this might help. We arrived in September and after looking around a few of the schools and their grades and ratings, we decided the best school in the area for our 11 and 14 year olds was Pacific Lutheran College. Although it's a private school , it is a lot cheaper than in the Uk. Plus it's 5 mins drive from the new hospital!
  2. oh dear no we haven't just going offer things we have read on forums etc any advice on a better place much appreciated???
  3. Good morning We have just been granted our 189 visa and was wondering if anyone could help me out on the best schools state or private for an 11yrs and 14yrs around caloundra or buddina area? Also any advice on which areas would be best for us to rent a house? We are looking at renting a holiday rental for 3or 4 weeks In the first instance and then a short term rental until we find our feet any suggestions on where to find information ?? thank you toni
  4. Thanks Cal. We are heading to the sunshine coast. Don't know exactly which part yet??/ So any advice from anyone on here would be great. need a good school for 11yr and 14yr
  5. Hi sorry for late reply we have been out celebrating :ssign19:. It was extremely quick 2 weeks 4 days!!! I front loaded pcc and medicals. We are soo excited!1
  6. Sooo excited we found out this morning we have been granted our 189 visa yay!!:ssign19::ssign19::smile::jiggy:
  7. Sorry forgot to mention. I have 12 years experience as a cabinet maker. But I have no formal qualification, therefore the TRA view the first 3 years as an unofficial apprenticeship ( backed up by my employer) meaning I can only claim 9 years experience.
  8. Hi here is our situation it might help you a bit. i am applying for a 189 visa as a cabinet maker i have rcvd a positive skills assessment from Acts. My migration agent advised me to apply for a PTA (points test advisory) from the TRA. This apparently will confirm to our case officer at visa application stage that we have the relevant experience to match the Australian qualification awarded during skills assessment. we are currently 5 weeks into a possible 12 week wait for the result from the TRA.
  9. Hi sorry didn't mean to panick you I've just seen you post on another thread too. We have been adviced to be extra sure as the acts certificate doesn't give years of experience like others will have with a TRA assessment. This is because hubby is self employed and agent thinks it best to be sure by proving experience to the TRA ! However I think if you have wage slips you should be fine ? ( but that's just my opinion hopefully someone else with more experience can confirm for you ) .
  10. Hi yes skills assessment all done and ielts top scores? we have lodged EOI and now have an invite for a 189 we were told by our agent to get a points test advisory from the TRA so we are waiting on that to come back before we lodge our visa application .
  11. ps I can't seem to open the link for the police check don't suppose you have a website reference thanks again
  12. hi Debs congrats on your visa, that was fast between application and them granting. Thanks for explaining could I just ask did you go with an agent or alone? Who did you book your medical in with and is it easy to open an immi account?
  13. Hi everyone. We got an invitation to apply for a 189 and are just waiting on some forms to come back before we lodge our visa application . Can we book our police checks and Medicals now so that we upload them with the applications im thinking maybe this will speed up visa process. ?? Any advice would be appreciated thanks
  14. hi nissa strange we are both in Southampton. Where are you planning on going in oz?
  15. wow maybe we will start talking to some companies I didn't realise they would be interested unless we were out there or on our way! Might be able to secure a 457 that way and go out there earlier while waiting for our 189 to complete if that's possible ??!? Yes defiantly keep in touch on here and let each other know when we get PTA back! We are very lucky both our families are very supportive and have taken the news sooo well which if I'm honest I'm quite shocked by ! I know it's early but we have put the house on the market as we are so keen to get going ASAP if the house completes before the visa we are happy to go into rented over here if need be . And I don't like to think about it but if we don't get a visa we have decided we need a change anyway
  16. yes he is cabinet maker. No job lined up just going over and hopefully sort it from there, when we get a little closer he said he will try and enquire with a few companies. Does your hubby have a job lined up? Does your little girl start school In September ? We are from Southampton you,?
  17. Thank you for the supportive words Barry very true I'm sure when we look back we will. Yes schools start Jan just didn't want daughter to start a new school over here then a few months later over there but I think your right our idea of being there in September has now gone out the window with this PTA never mind I'm just pleased we are in with a chance of going at all . Now you've got you TRA are you putting your EOI in?
  18. we have 2 children 14 and 11. I'm so impatient and this PTA is something I didn't have planned I thought we would be lodging our visa by now not having to wait another possible 10 weeks for the PTA (. Our plan was to try to be out there by September so my youngest didn't have to start secondary over here and then start another new school over there. Do you have children? Which agent are you with?
  19. Thanks for your reply Nikki I was hoping it would be quick as its not a full skills assessment . Anyone else got their processing times ??
  20. Hi just wondering who else has lodge a PTA with TRA and how long theirs took
  21. we are going for a 189. Not enjoying this waiting game I feel like that's all we've been doing lately ! Waiting for ielts results, then skills assessment now the TRA before the EOI and then the visa . I take it you haven't heard from TRA ? I was hoping as it's just a PTA and not a full skills assessment it might be quicker
  22. hi nissa thanks for your help and reply. We already have a positive skills assessment back from acts as TRA do not do a skills assessment for cabinet makers we have just put a experience points test into the TRA as adviced by our agent so we have been informed we can put an EOI while waiting for this just wondered if anyone knew how long this would take ?
