Thanks pomqueen! any ideas on places to stay?

Hi we are a family of 4 (kids 6 and 2) visiting for 6 nights from 13th august before seeing friends in nz. Any ideas on a good but reasonable place to stay and what would you recommend doing when we are in melbourne? thanks !!

Hi I am new to this and this is my first post so be gentle! My husband and I have wanted to move to Oz for such a long time now. We have 2 children 6 and 2, my husband has recently been offered a job in Melbourne as a forklift mechanic. It would be on a 457 visa but after a trial year period they would make it permanent (I think that's what he said). I am a nurse (BSc Hons Adult Nursing qualified Jan 15) and have been working as a community nurse (so no hospital experience since being a student!), ideally I would like to stay in community nursing as I love it. Anyway, a few questions, I have no idea where to begin...? Do we need to do IELTS first? Do we even need to do IELTS as I have done my degree? What if not IELTS do we need to do first? Would you recommend a reccie before we do anything at all, the soonest we could go would be August and only for 2 weeks? Should be take the children? I am totally clueless, and the more I read on forums and online, the more confused I get! Thanks fellow PIO's!
