  1. This is starting to driving me a bit insane, anyone around in Melbourne waiting for the same thing?
PM me if anyone keen to catch up for a drink or coffee or even add me in a chatgroup on wtsapp/line, I really want some moral support on this...

But what about in between the citizenship Test and the ceremony? Some people here passed their test 5 or 6 months ago and still haven't received an invite for the ceremony. Can these people still travel or do they have to wait?

hmm... good question, I personally wouldn't risk it, but I do know people travel regardlessly (also didn't notify immi). And everything still turns out fine

Just a quicky on behalf of a friend of mine who has just successfully passed his citizenship test.

He is planning to travel extensively within the next 3 months so the question is:

Does he need to wait until the citizenship ceremony to be able to travel?

from what I understand, after your fd attended the ceremony, he is official an Australian Citizen, thus he/she will need an Australian passport to leave the country

We are few lucky ones who applied before 20 April - 2017--!!...~~~ I am thinking I should have applied after 20th April as they are getting approvals in 2 hours after the test. ...!!~~~

yea same here... I am eligible a few days before everything went to hell, should do get all well prepare and applied right at the day I am eligible... life lesson learned again

Immi won't but it may speed things up or slow things down depending on the council you are moving to or from. Once Immi approve your citizen it's up to your council how long they keep you waiting for a ceremony and some councils are much quicker to organise ceremonies than others. The council I was in when I applied was Maribyrnong. They are (or were in those days anyway) extremely slow. We moved to the Wyndham council area before my wife's citizenship ceremony and she got a ceremony date within a month of giving the new address. I'm sure she'd have waited several months longer had we still been in Maribyrnong.

Hi Ken, thank you for the info, I guess moving wouldn't an issue for me at the moment since I haven't got any news back from immi since I applied lol

    Hi,

Hopefully this is the right forum to post in, if not, apologies.

I become eligible to apply for citizenship in December and intend to apply then.  However, I'm looking at travelling for overseas for five-six months from the beginning of May next year.  As my overseas travel will be after I apply, will it cause any problems with my application?

Thanks for your help with this.

    Hi, Ittm

Pretty sure if you do your application online, there will be a section asking if you intend to travel to oversea in the near future,
just provide the correct details, and you should be fine, but on the side note, I don't know if they will secretly delay your processing time tho...
