  1. I just got my pr last week! Its been a very long process. It took me 1 year and 1 month. Good luck to everyone. I m not sure if the new changes affect 186/187 or only 457.

    Timeline. 10/3/2016 nomination and visa

24/1/2017 open file. New passports requested, svac and a document for nomination  ( don't know what).

    3/2017  nomination approved

    10/4/2017 visa approved

    Massage therapist.

At the end I had to follow up with immi if they received the new passports as MA hadn't uploaded my husbands. So I called them a few times Thursday and Friday to check and Monday I called them again to say that they had everything and they granted pr.

  2. Hello,

Random question but has anyone applied for car finance while they are still waiting for their residency?

we are currently having car trouble which has been at the mechanics now for 3 weeks so are looking to buy another car as i am currently using a friends. We don't have the cash so just looking to get a car around $5000 if we can get finance.

Just want to know would we have a chance of getting finance or will they just automatically say no due to the residency not being through yet?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

What visa do you currently have?

If you can't get it from the bank you might be able to get it from loan companies like latitude. The interest is high but when you get your pr you can get a bank loan with better interest to repay the high one.

  3. Is it ok to apply for resort/park manager while holding degree in science??

Check with a migration agent if you are cover by your experience and you don't need qualifications for it. I would get a second opinion as well. Some MA will answer one question for free or even do a free assessment for you.

  4. Hi gogita i knew your timeline but i forgot at the moment. Can you please provide your timeline? And also How it takes in my case you reckon? My timeline:

    23 march nomination

    31 march visa

Onshore, DE, 2 people HR country

    Cook, thank you ☺☺

10 March nom and visa. I knew I would be soon because the guy posted yesterday that his nomination got approved.

I think you ll be a couple more weeks. Good luck!

  5. Hi guys, a friend told me something last night that I ve never heard before. An immi officer told her boss that the 2 years count from when you apply for your visa not when the visa is granted. That's why we are eligible for medicare. Has anyone ever heard of that before?

    Here is my older post

  6. [h=3]MIGRATION ACT 1958 - SECT 137Q[/h]Cancellation of regional sponsored employment visas

    (...)

    Employment terminates within 2 years

    (2) The Minister may cancel a regional sponsored employment visa held by a person if:

    (a) the Minister is satisfied that:

    (i) the person commenced the employment referred to in the relevant employer nomination (whether or not within the period prescribed by the regulations); and

(ii) the employment terminated within the period (the required employment period ) of 2 years starting on the day the person commenced that employment; and

    (b) the person does not satisfy the Minister that he or she has made a genuine effort to be engaged in that employment for the required employment period.

Guys, this is an extract from the Migration Act specifically regarding the cancellation of a regional sponsored employment visa. What do you understand from the part in red? It doesn't say that the 2 years start from when the visa is granted. What is your interpretation?

    Cheers

I was wondering the exact same thing yesterday. I even posted it here a few weeks ago and everyone said that its since visa grant but my understanding is since you started working there thats why we get medicare

  7. Thanks god they start allocating from March not February.

Is there anyone applied in March get response yet?

I don't think they are done yet with February. I went to immi today cause I applied 10.3.2016 and my passport expires 14.2.2017 and the lady said that the chances to get my pr until 14.2 are very slim :(

  8. There's nothing wrong with you paying the fee for the visa or for the migration agent. It's not uncommon for employers to be willing to sponsor but won't pay for the fees. Your employer cannot revoke your visa. Perhaps they can complain to DIBP and ask that it be revoked but unless they have a genuine reason (e.g. you resign within 2 years) or evidence that you have applied fraudulently, they wouldn't be successful.

Can they really cancel your permanent residency if you resign before the 2 years? I know about 457 and student visa cancelation but pr? Has anyone ever heard any stories about it? What your migration agents say?

  9. Hi Dear all

my 187(cook) visa grant in Oct 2016. I'm traveling now(annual leave). My coworker text me , the boss trying to revoke my visa and discuss with a lawyer how to do it. I applied the visa with all genuine docs. But I have a question, if the boss reports that I paid the visa fee and agent service fee myself, not paid by business, is it possible I will be in trouble???? Thanks.

You have to pay the visa fee and agent by yourself. Not the company.

If you've used an agent to do your paperwork I think you are safe cause they wouldn't do something illegal to risk their licence. If your boss doesn't like you anymore they can fire you but you don't lose your pr. If your boss wants to revike your visa that probably has to go through the court and they will have to pay for a lawyer as well.

Good luck with everything and remember that its always better to seek legal advice ( even a skype meeting with an agent if you are overseas).

  10. Still sticking it out. 6 months will be completed this week. Another girl working with me that hasn't even received her grant yet. I feel for her too. Things are slightly better. Visited family back home after 5 years without seeing them. Finally got my drivers licence. Anyone else counting down their two years??

Have you asked immi when will you become eligible to apply for citizenship?

  11. I`ve just got email from vic general cancellation as well. Could you please tell me what is all about?

This doesn't sound very good. I got my 457 visa cancelled but as I had already applied for 187 and members from this blog adviced me I went to immi and got BVE until I receive the decision for 187 wich was great as got working rights back.

  12. Helllo Niranjan,

As far as I know according to the 187 RSMS visa under Direct Entry we must remain with the employer for the 2 years time from the grant date of PR. It does not matter if you have already worked for the employer or you just start to work after the visa approval we must remain with the employer for 2 years time. But in certain cases if you are eligible for citizenship after 1 year of PR grant then you can apply for Australian citizenship and in that case you don't need t worry for 2 years to be with your employer. I suggest you to read carefully your job contract that you submit to the immigration at the time of visa lodgement. I have applied nomination and visa as a Retail Store Manager from the food court cafe in WA under 187 visa RSMS Direct Entry on 25th July 2016 and I guess we need to wait few more months...

    I totally agree with you,

However a friend of mine is doing her visa in alice springs and her manager told her that the time counts since you lodge your visa application. I ve never heard of that before so I m not 100% sure. But once I get my visa I m gonna go to immi to ask when I ll be eligible for citizenship.
