  1. My theory - for what it is worth - is that older dogs actually travel as well as younger ones. The chance of them having a heart attack and dying is virtually zero. But as they are generally a bit more deaf and their sight is not as sharp as it once was, i think they are insulated from the noise etc of the flight. 11 years old for a Labrador is not super old, so as long as he is fit and healthy then go for it. there is no reason not to fly him.

Age is just a number - as i keep telling myself as i get older:) - if they are fit and healthy then there is no reason not to fly these pets.

Hey bobpetairuk, how much would it be to ship him from uk to oz?

    Thankyou [emoji190]

  2. No idea where Bundaberg is.....a real leap into the unknown

Looks like the site we are in has a linked site in Bundaberg (part of the Top Parks chain...not sure if it's all owned or a franchise).

Whilst utilitarian they do have some cabins, have a look at their site; http://www.glenlodge.com.au/

Might not work for you, but our experience has been positive at the Brisbane one.

Thanks v much ferrets. We will b visiting brisbane at some point so im gonna take a peek at where u stayed. Have a good day. [emoji41] [emoji41] [emoji41]

  3. Recommend Brisbane Holiday Village down at Eight Mile Plains. If it weren't for the fact we have a container turning up next week we'd probably have gone for a longer term here as it's so well placed (busway into the City, Cycle lanes, etc.).

Thanku... We are going straight up to bundaberg... But if we r tired we will stop in brisbane first. Cheers for that x

Have you got jobs / accommodation lined up?

    Exciting times!!

Not yet... Sorting holiday accom now. Some estate agents hv replied so will meet up with them when land, plenty of rentals avail tho so not too worried. Hubby is aussie so he can work immediately, i however cant for 3mths until bridging visa kicks in. I dont mind tho hahaha! X

  7. Haha it's pretty good, the farm I'm on is in the bush and off grid. We see the odd snake and spider, but nothing like people make out about it all. They're there for sure, but just require some common sense and appreciation as it's there home too. [emoji4]

Gympie is way bigger than that with about 22k population I think. It has three shopping centres/areas, nice coffee shops, quite a lot of supply shops for most things too from rainwater tanks to buying custom 4x4 spares.

Ahh thats ok, we had snakes and red backs over WA, saw more red backs and only one snake in the year we were there, so not too bad. I think its the thought of seeing a huntsman or one of those jumping spiders in my house! eek! :spider::shocked:

Are there crocodiles there? I always thought they were north but according to internet they are further down? lol

  8. I'm not in Gympie itself, but go there for local supplies and shopping etc. Gympie has a lot of facilities, way more than I anticipated. It's a fairly sleepy country town.

I'm helping out on a farm out of town until I find something permanent.

    I'm a mechanic by trade.

We lived in a place called Moora in WA bk in 2012. That had a population of 1500 approx, that was a quiet country town too. Im looking forward to coming over to qld as never been. :-) ps. Bit scared about the creepy crawlies tho, and the crocodilians! That's a secret tho lol ;-)

  9. No worries, I'm sure you'll be fine. Being determined enough to make a go of anything is the biggest part.

I don't know anyone on here that lives there, sorry.

Thankyou. Whats life like in gympie? If u dont mind me asking, what do u do for work? :-)

  10. How weird is this... Just spoken to our rational fx guy... He's only from Bundaberg! So weird! He really recommends the place so gonna give it a go. Ps. If anyone needs to move money across, i really recommend rational fx... They have been great with us, very professional service.

  11. thankyou cal. we prefer quiet life. we go to the bigger cities for our holidays instead. We emigrated to Moora, WA in 2012 with no Jobs, within 3 wks I was offered 3 different Jobs, my hubby took longer and got a job in 8 wks, but again offered 2. Our biggest regret was leaving, we had a great life there, just failed to see it at time.

Nevermind, we have a new opportunity and fancy a change of scenery, so thought hey, why not QLD! lol.

  12. I want to pursue my chef career further, but have had nursing experience (qualified years ago, but reg has since lapsed), recently I worked as a phlebotomist. We have also managed pubs in the uk. I worked as a sales assistant during my stint in WA. My husband has previously worked as a gardener on the parks and gardens crew for the shire of moora. He also managed pubs and has had warehouse experience, with forklift. haha so anything lol ;-)

We will be budgeting ourselves for mínimum wage, initially renting within our means (our last house in moora was nothing to shout about, but it did us, dirt cheap rent at the time 170 pwk!). I do have money to invest in buying a property eventually. My hubby is also an aussie citizen, so maybe entitled to first buyers scheme.

Im trying to look at áreas that we can afford to live in, hence moved away from Brisbane. I looked at Townsville also.

    Thankyou for reply x

  13. Thankyou for reply srg73 :-)

We were looking at emigrating back to WA (lived there back in 2012 for a year), we were going to go back there, but i have had a change of mind and really fancy the east coast. Reading ppls views I have chosen QLD. We have never been, so really trying to research áreas. Are there any regional towns that are worth a look? We are a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 7 & 9. We lived in a regional town before, 2 hrs north of Perth, so have experienced isolation before lol.

Part of me thinks ill just get a dart, and throw it on the map! ;-) cheers guys x

  14. Hey guys. A quick question... Does anyone live in bundy? What is it like? House prices seem very cheap, is there a reason for this? Looking on realestate the houses seem to good to be true! Lol

    Thanks in advance x

  15. We have lived together about three years now and are both uk citizens, I got my aussi citizenship a few yrs ago though as I was born there, but havnt been back over yet. I just looked at defacto visa its soooo expensive!

Similar circumstances to us, my hubby is Australian as he was born there, but grew up in UK mostly. I'm app!ying for the 820 partner visa. We have two kids but we got their Aussie citizenship back in 2012 when we first emigrated (ping pong pom and all that) lol. Good luck with it all x
