  1. Hi all,
I do firstly want to apologise if these questions have already been answered, but I couldn't find any specific answers on the internet anywhere.
So, I am currently dating someone from the UK, and I live in Australia.
We were thinking of applying for the 820 partner visa. Now, I have absolutely no idea or very shallow knowledge of what these visas entitle.
Now, me and my boyfriend are currently just dating, but are thinking of getting married next year. Do we have to be engaged for us to apply for the 820 visa or we get married then apply for the visa? And can we apply for it whilst he is here on his tourist visa?
Also, do I need to sponsor him, because I am an Australian born? Because I'm only a student at the moment, and will be a student for the next few years to come, so I don't have any proper income. I study full time.
is it possible for him to sponsor himself?
Thank you in advance!! Every answer is appreciated [emoji3]

The 820 is for de facto relationships or married. So if you're in a de facto relationship, you have to live together sharing bills e.c.t for 12 months. I don't think they count time dating in that, just when your serious relationship starts. Sponsors are usually the partner, and have to be Australian citizens.
    (I think)

  2. Hi all,
My partner and I are in the process on applying for his Prospective Marriage visa and there are questions which ask about the financial aspects such as joint bank account, bills etc.
I was under the impression that the Prospective Marriage visa didn't require as much information as the partner visa as we're not married and expected to have joint finances.
Can anyone please advise me on what kind of information they provided? This section allows for 2000 characters but we don't have much to write in that section.

    Hi,
We just mentioned what shared things we've bought while visiting each other like half on hotels, one paying both our travel, and buying for birthdays. It didn't seem like much written out so we mentioned that we plan on getting a joint bank account, and sharing bills eventually.

Yeah thats the same for my partner too, it was like that once the C/O requested for more information!

Have you uploaded all your medicals and police checks etc?

Yeah, we were already waiting for my medical to get uploaded before the CO asked.
Then we uploaded our police checks a couple days before the day the CO wanted them by, so on 22nd :)

  4. Hi guys, I couldn't find any threads specifically about how PMV (300)'s are going. All were 309, 100, 801 and 820. If there is already a thread for this, please let me know :)

I was wondering how everyone else's applications are going/went to get an idea of the current processing times.

    My application;

    21st Feb - Application submitted

7th March - Uploaded everything except police checks and medical

    8th March - Medical

9th March - CO's first contact requesting medical and police checks

Hoping to have police checks uploaded by 24th March, and press the 'information provided' button. :)

    How's everyone else's going? :cute:

  5. Hmm... should we have waited then? Health assessment required appeared under the Attach Documents part of the home page, so we just clicked on the link, completed the assessment and booked in for the medical.

Is that's what supposed to happen? Or does it only appear when the C/O has requested a medical?

I did my medical before I was asked for it. Then the day after I did the medical my CO asked for medical and police checks. Uploaded a week later, so just waiting on police checks coming in post to upload. I applied less than a month ago so pretty sure pre-uploading stuff speeds things up :)

  7. Well my Hubby has just got back from his medical, the Doctor said everything looked fine but the blood tests will take 24 hours. We don't know what to do, do we push the button to notify the department that all requested documents have been uploaded or do we wait for the health assessment to be no further action? What has everyone else done. We don't know of we push the button it will give the C/O the nod.
