Our stuff was packed in January as we had sold our house but we didnt plan on coming to Oz till may so we used pickfords storage, we got 8 weeks free and paid for nearly 2 weeks on top. it was our choice to not ship till April they would have shipped whenever we asked

We shipped with pickfords also some of our boxes were checked and we were charged $370 quarantine and inspection fees this was just last week out of a heap of boxes marked on our packed list with a Q for quarantine they only checked 3, tent, shoes and one marked lights and vases, I was told they would have checked this Incase of any foliage was still there

Vacuum cleaners must be fully cleaned, we just shipped out household effects and a leather sofa was one of the items we were not told we couldn't ship it, the shipping companies are great for advice they advised us of any items we were unsure of, when the containers reaches oz your list of items packed is checked over and anything that quarantine may want to check is marked with a Q it's then up to them what they pull to check we had quite a few Q's on our sheet but only 3 boxes pulled, they checked our boxes marked tent, shoes, vases

The only additional coswe had were quarantine and inspection fees of $370 this was only last week we paid this, also our shipment took 5 weeks to arrive in freemantle and an extra week to clear customs so 6 weeks all in

Yeh tried there too applied for all the ones he can and have been checking every day for any new ad's

Hi Cal He has his white card which I believe replaced the blue card and has his Australian qualifications and a WA license, we have drove round sites asking if anyone is looking he has also got a list of carpenter companies and has been calling them too, quite a few have taken his number and have said they'll call when things pick up but the thing wer being told is that there is a downturn just now and things should pick up in the next month or so which isn't ideal

Hi everyone, We arrived In Perth a few weeks ago, my husband is a Carpenter to trade and looking for work he's applied to every job he has seen but there's been no joy, if anyone knows of any work or people looking for carpenters your help would be much appreciated :smile:

Hi everyone been following this thread since yesterday, I felt like I was going mental until I came on here and realised theres so many of us in the same boat :biglaugh:, Just like to say a thank you to Kirstyj for putting up an explanation on how to check an immi account when going through an agent, I didn't know this even existed, I managed to log onto this yesterday and our status is assessment in progress, so hopefully not to much longer to wait its driving me insane. We applied on 11.09.15 CO contacted on 19.10.15 police checks and form 80 received by agents on 30.10.15 , immi account is showing last updated 06.11.15, fingers crossed ours will be in the next week, good luck to everyone hopefully theyl be a flurry of grants before Xmas
