  1. Hey guys! I have a question about my current 457 visa. My visa will expire this october 2017 and i have to re-apply again. I'll be going 2 years working with my employer february next year so thats the time i can apply my PR.
Is there a chance that i can still re-apply my 457 visa without the new policy, since im already here since last year? My job is a web designer and its not removed in the list.

You have the same problem as me my visa was only an 18 month 457 because of the business being quite new. This expires march 2018.
From what I have read we will not be able to apply for another 457 as they no longer exist.
My plans are to apply for the permanent residency as quickly as possible through the employer nomination direct entry scheme on 186 visa. It means you have to do a skills assessment but it's worth it to get the worry over with and right now I'm extremely scared about my future.
Good luck to you as well

  2. Can I have some advice please? My employer sponsorship has been approved and I am lodging my own 457 visa for me and my husband (I am the primary) Where and at what point do I get the HAP Number so that I can book the medical? I think I shall be another week getting document in place and wanted to book the medical now as there is a waiting list.

Also did anyone arrange Medicare prior to visa lodge? I am sure I have seen hat we need to provide evidence of this at lodgement? I know I need private medical insurance and I will arrange this with Bupa but wondered about Medicare also? As I thought I would of done this on arrival.

Starting to get a wee bit confused!:wideeyed::confused:

Hi Suzanne if you are from the uk you are entitled to Medicare but not until you are in Australia, therefore you need to arrange private healthcare to be able to be granted the visa ( I used frank)

Once you are over there you can get the Medicare and cancel your health insurance if you wish and you will still be abiding by the rules of the visa.

In regards to your medical, are you sure you need one? Your bio does say you are from U.K. If so then you only need to do if you are in a medical profession or childcare, look into it. I never had to as a hairdresser

Hope that all helps as for the HAP number if you need it I can't help as I never had to do it sorry

  3. Congrats to everyone on their recent visas!

June/July applicants don't worry just yet your timeframes seem quite normal, it's just luck if it's earlier!

I was a May applicant and my visa was only granted a week ago so it took a full 4 months, the wait is horrible but worth it.

My flight out is the 19th!!

  4. Yes

It states that a bachelors degree is required which you have.

It also states that if you don't have a bachelors degree then you must have the years of experience.

You have both so you have a great case for 457 because you obviously have the skills and qualifications that Australia needs.

That's what I've read though so it would still be good to get another opinion [emoji3]

  5. Thanks, nope no criminal record! Do you know if I applied now whether it would be a year from approval or a year from entering Australia?

It's a year from when you enter but I think you have to enter aus within a year of it being accepted otherwise you lose it [emoji2]

  8. Hey Guys!

About the health insurance, did you ask your health insurer to submit/ fill out the "health insurance standard template" https://www.border.gov.au/Bringingyourfamilyorpartners/Documents/hi-template.rtf? Or did you just submit the one that was emailed to you by your insurer?

I'm using a migration agent but I just sent him the one that was emailed to me the confirmation of health insurance he said that was fine

  11. guys i have bad news......sponsorship is refused....

after waiting for 3 months today we got the mail tht its refused..

few questions if any one have the ans,

my sponsor had been informed tht he did not full fill the requirements for training benchmark ( i dont have much details and dont even know wht is all this abt)

but he has been given 21 days of time if he have any queries and can apply for review the application,

my question is have any one of u ever been across who had applied to review and got the approval,

    any help is much appreciated.

    my time line:

Sponsorship and nomination applied - 17th may 2016

    visa applied - 30th may

request for medical - 19 july

    submitted following week

Oh prita I really feel for you, this is what I am dreading I can't even imagine how this must feel!

Your company must be able to prove that they spend a certain percentage of income on their staffs training, this is the existing staff they can't just say they will do it for you they have to prove they do it already. I can't remember the percentage it has to be but they obviously couldn't prove this or didn't provide enough evidence of this?

I think like you say they can appeal but I'm also under the impression that it costs a lot more to appeal?

I'm so sorry for you I hope you have/get another chance or sponsor [emoji2]

  12. Harriet-

yeah it was approved on the 17th of June according to my employer. Does that make it quicker?! Haha just want to hear anything positive!

    nikki

No idea! It seems there can be lots of different factors.

How come you left such a long time between nomination approval and putting in the visa application? The waiting period would probably only count from when you submitted the visa but atleast your nomination has been approved. Next step should be grant, it just depends where in the queue it is or who's desk it ends up on?

I've been quite unlucky with my timeframes unfortunately so id hate to get someone's hopes up when I know how it feels to wait a very long time.

Try to prepare yourself for a wait just incase.

Been 16 weeks and still no word on my nomination (after 9 weeks wait employer was asked for further info) still waiting [emoji20]

  13. Really frustrating waiting for some action!

Fingers crossed they don't ask for further information. I emailed the 457 address last night and the automated response With current processing times said it take up to 50 working days to be allocated a CO before the advised 8 weeks processing time.

i lodged my application from the UK, hope that doesn't delay it.

Has your employers nomination been approved yet? [emoji3]

  14. We have family 25 mins from my new job, we are staying with them, which makes everything a hell of a lot easier we haven't took any furniture as most of it was due to be replaced anyway this year, so we made do with it until now, we shipped 8 large boxes of personal items and sentimental things (stuff we wanted) we had it all ready to go the minute we got visa approved, so that got picked up Monday, and luckily we had moved out of our house the week before so it was pretty much empty. To be honest everything just fell into place and we were REALLY lucky!

Our house is up for sale we out that on the market around a month ago, one set of keys is staying with my Mam and another is going to the estate agents who are selling it for us.

Honestly though, we took a massive risk so I wouldn't want any one to do what we did, some people on this forum have been waiting months for there visa to be approved we were lucky enough to have a sh*t hot migration agent who got us it 3 weeks after nomination approval

    That's real lucky for sure!

Me and my partner have the issue that we do not live near our families and we want to obviously spend some time with them before we go. The problem is we don't want to be stuck there with my partner not working for up to another 3 months if we go to family too early!

We live in Aberdeen and all my family are near gatwick.

We don't have a house to sell so that's great and same as you no furniture as our flat here was fully furnished when we moved in.

I will just have to take the chance of leaving Aberdeen and our jobs before the visa is granted to go to gatwick because I would hate for it to be granted before I have the time to see my parents, brother, grandparents etc. Especially if my employer needs me to start also. Haven't seen the family since Christmas.

Luckily for my family they are used to not having me just around the corner so it makes the move a little easier for them and me.

And nowadays with FaceTime and Facebook you don't feel too far away [emoji2]

Best of luck with the move and the flight, tomorrow you go! Wish you a long and happy life in Australia!

Wow that is very quick, what have you done about shipping your belongings? Did you have a house to sell?

And just general tying up loose ends, any advice would be great when/if the time comes for me, thanks!

  17. Hi all,

I've been reading this thread for the past few weeks as we waited for my partners visa to come through. It's just come through this morning!

    Thought I'd post my timelines:

May 20th: Nomination and Visa Application lodged

    July 26th: Nomination approved

August 4th: Visa approved and granted

Applying off shore and from a low risk country.

    Total time: 10 weeks

    Hang in there everyone!

Interested to know did you or your employer get asked for further information? Where is it you will be going in Australia? And what occupation have you applied for?

Thanks just trying to work out all different time frames

In my 14th week now and just losing hope a little bit [emoji17]

  18. Don't want to worry you but my nomination was applied for on the 5th May and still has not been approved as of yet.

The dibp is really cracking down on fraudulent applications so I am led to believe.

If you lodge a complete application then it can be easier but a lot of the time they are asking for further information and even once that is submitted it can take a further 28 working days.

Be prepared for a wait is all I can say.

Me and my partner were thinking of handing in our 2 months notice for our rental property in May and now we are so glad we didn't otherwise we would be homeless by now.

Worst case scenario could be 3 months for each part nomination and visa. Not going to lie it's very frustrating living in limbo but there's nothing you can do except wait.

Good luck and try not to make any hasty moving decisions atleast until the nomination is approved [emoji2]

  19. Yep agree with bobbie I had a look out of interest and carpenter is on the sol list so you are really lucky and have a lot of options for visas

Unfortunately for me hairdresser is only on CSOL so 457 is one of my only options

Good luck with your research [emoji2]
