  1. Interesting you should say that as we are looking at a couple of properties to rent in Frankston South and Mount Eliza tomorrow! My wife has a job in Ringwood but we have decided that a 40 - 45 minute commute would be worth it to live in or near to Mount Eliza for our family.
  2. Hi Dazken Amac, Yes we have been here a couple of weeks now, arrived just as Autumn was beginning, thinkiing it may be slightly cooler but no it was 40° on Tuesday!! Having a great time exploring the area with our boys. We are staying in the Eastern suburbs which is 30 minutes to the city and 30 minutes to the coast. We have a short term rental (5 weeks) in Forest Hills it is a 2 bedroom house and has everything we need (including a laundry room ?!). Short term accommodation isn't cheap but then you don't have to pay any bills and our house even has foxtel so we are getting to watch all the football from back home!! Haven't yet secured a longer term rental but house hunting this weekend so fingers crossed. Good luck with your plans and if you have any more queries please don't hesitate to shout.
  3. We have recently relocated to the Eastern suburbs and I was wondering if there were any chaps out there who fancied meeting up for a beer sometime? My wife is meeting plenty of ladies but I do with some male company some time.
  4. We are currently in Gloucestershire, in the UK. Not sure exactly where we will settle at the moment. We have booked our short term accommodation in Forest Hills and are looking at Blackburn area as have friends who live in the Eastern suburbs. We have looked at Bayside areas too in particular Parkdale and Mentone but are thinking it would be good to be nearer to friends while we settle in?? How long have you been in Melbourne? Are you settling in well?
  5. Hi everyone, we too are moving over to Melbourne next February, I am in my 30's (just!!) and my husband is in his early 40's. We have 2 boys, who will both be turning 5 and 3 next month! Would be good to arrange some meet ups for when we arrive, although I am sure we will have plenty to keep us busy when we initially move over!!
  6. Thanks Starlight for the input, we have booked our short term accommodation in Forest Hills for when we arrive so will give us a good chance to look around the area. Do you know how easy it is to arrange a permanent rental without a job lined up etc? Any advice would be appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the link silverchair, our eldest turns 5 in December so will be looking to start school when we arrive this looks like a useful website. I guess though there's nothing better than actually having a look around and getting a feel for a place. We actually have friends who live out in the Eastern suburbs so we're hoping to settle nearby initially. There are several schools in Blackburn and surrounding suburbs amongst the top rankings on the website you sent through, which is reassuring. When are you looking to make the permanent move after your reccie? I've handed my notice in from work and starting to get shipping quotes so no going back now!
  8. Hi silverchair, I have been a silent follower of Poms in Oz for many months now. We are in a similar situation to yourselves. We too are a family of 4 (2 boys aged 4 and 2) and are moving to Melbourne next year. We have booked our flights and arrive at the end of February. We have booked a short term rental for 5 weeks while we have a look around to decide where we want to settle. We are considering the Blackburn area which doesn't seem too far from Ashburton and Glen Iris? Neither myself nor my husband have jobs so are just taking the plunge and hoping we secure employment soon after arrival....would be good to get some views on the Blackburn area and the primary schools in that area. Started to get very excited now!
