  1. Hi, wondering if anyone can help. We have our visa, activated last year and are heading down under in December this year. Problem is, I don't know what my job is in Oz or my husbands, so I'm struggling to a search for jobs. jon is a cabinet maker here, he designs and makes bespoke furniture, highly skilled and doing this for 25 years, yet cabinet maker seems to be a shop fitter in the UK, anyone know what I should be looking for...? He has an AQF in carpentry if that helps (not just saying it, but he is brilliant) our long term plan is for him to open a high street shop selling one off furniture designs, his inspirations are mies van de rohe, paul kajerholm, jory brigham, Sam maloof..... i am am a registered manager for learning disabilities, mental health, drug and alcohol and autism, basically an area manager for several services with a degree in social sciences and a diploma in leadership & management in health and social care. All my searches are revealing support workers or nurse posts, but nothing in between. (I'm not a nurse, but I am HR and recruitment in my field) Anyone got any ideas what I should be looking for? I've ordered literature to familiarise myself with the equivalent regulators in Oz, but I can't see any jobs
  2. Thanks for the info. We tried the pheromone spray, sent her the other way, she turned in to a bouncing puppy again. We are doing a few dummy runs, over night stays in kennels (they've never been in kennels before), first stay is in 3 weeks, she will bunk with her sister but the second stay I will ask for separate kennels. Literally from 5pm till 8am, will kill me, but need to see how she copes. Any other advice would be helpful, but she is unique... 2 vets have told us, she is the most anxious dog they've seen.... I think the other dog will be upset but she can cope... I hope.
  3. Yeah, we applied 7 years ago and it came April 14, activated it last Christmas. Just can't wait to get out there and find our feet
  4. Hi Sarah/ everyone, I only joined the forum today but just wondered how people have been getting on? We are flying our 2 rescues out in March, but it's breaking my heart as they will be 14 and the eldest, Meg (she sounds like your rescue), is so incredibly anxious. She had cancer in January and whilst coming out of General Anaesthetic, she woke up when someone dropped a metal pan on the floor, vet said she has never seen such an anxious dog, should’ve taken her a while to come round but ‘boom’ she was up and about, crazy. I was wondering if anyone has any tips. The only good thing is she will be in her crate, mesh to mesh with her sister.
  5. this is exactly the same as my dog Meg, no way would we go without her, but can't stay in the UK either so have to put her through this, unless there is an alternative which I cant see. the vet actually said she was the most anxious dog she'd every seen
  6. Have friends in Melbourne, so first 12 months will be there.... long term, I am looking at Newcastle, whilst the OH is looking for Wollongong.
  7. thanks, but can't find anything about the quarantine, some say you can visit, others say not.... google isn't helping
  8. thank you... having a gander at the mountains of information available.... mine is mostly about dogs.... shipping them and finding accommodation on arrival... but I'm sure I will get the hang of it
