Hi All, Please guide me. I lost my birth certificate which was uploaded with my citizenship application. Meanwhile, I was able to get a new birth certificate from the government. Is it important to upload it now as I shall be showing it, if asked, during the interview tomorrow? All the contents of the new birth certificate are same except it has a different date of issue.

I think is better to upload it now . And also fill up and upload a 1022 form to explain them the situation.

Hi friends. I am new user to this site.
    my citizenship time line

    Citizenship application submitted: 08/12/2021

Invitation for interview and test date: 09/03/2022(passed 100%)

approval- still waiting ( status still showing received)

one of my friend took the test same day, approved with in 30mins and he already received ceremony date. Mine still showing received.
council: city of tea tree gully. Adelaide. South Australia

anyone from adelaide still waiting for approval and ceremony date.
    thank you

Unfortunately yes I’m waiting 13 months ( city of Playford) after ceremony for approval and another guy from here is waiting already 7 months . While each application is individual and you can’t compare any case with yours, it seems unfortunately that Adelaide office is quite slow with approvals. Well I hope this is gonna change soon given I complained to Ombudsman and my complaint has been approved and is under investigation. I’ll keep you informed. Fingers crossed 🤞

Was your application online (via immiaccount) or on paper? Mine is online application so all the communication I've received from the department was via emails: intervew appoiment, approval letter, ceremony invitation. None was postal.

Online however I am pretty sure that the approval letter used to come via post . Except if they changed that recently.  If you read here the pages from 2020-2021 you will see everyone received approval letter via postal. And at the same time the status turned into approval in the account without email notification. Is Good if they changed that .

Well mine is exactly 19 months now. Still waiting for approval ! Last month when was 18 months on timeframe and this passed , again heard nothing . I communicated with them heard nothing . I called them they told this shouldn’t happen and they gave me the Adelaide office PO Box address for Delays to sent a request and again heard nothing back( 3 months now)

she told me that is better to sent it via post because if I sent it with email and is a system error in my file they will never read it.

Passed the test 100% before exactly 13 months. no problems no further documentation has  requested. Btw I have already applied to ombudsman. Their response is that will take up 10 weeks to solve that. Let’s see

I have been following this forum for more than a year now. You guys have been amazing. Your posts are very helpful.

    Here is my timeline:

    State: Victoria

    Permanent Residence 16 March 2020
Citizenship Application Submission 17 March 2021
    Heard nothing since then.
    Waiting on Test/Appointment
    Waiting on Ceremony

13 to 24 months to process is pretty unfair I think. Specially when we see other states doing so well when it comes to processing citizenship applications. Victoria is the second largest state (population wise) after NSW. Yet, NSW is way  ahead of us. NSW has suffered lot more than any other state. Victoria was on the second. The processing times for applications have been pathetic.

Patience is being tested big time as one can not plan anything. Have not seen family in years. But I am hopeful that I will hear something in the next couple of months from the department. Everyone out there, waiting, stay strong, stay connected. You all are super-awesome. Live the dream and stay blessed. Hope you guys hear from the department soon.

Fingers crossed! I’m in the same boat and I can feel your concerns. By the way is ridiculous that covid situation has been used for delays ! Especially when they’re working from home. Except if at home they doing anything else except working. I’m waiting 9 months after my interview/test day for approval. 15 months in total after my application lodgement. And it is stressful. Especially when I faced that with my permanent visa approval in past waiting for 4,5 years .

That may depend, have you received any email from the department saying you have now been approved? This email is usually signed by the current immi minister. Once this email has been sent it should show approved, in some cases it may take a few days to show though..

You will never get an email for citizenship approval. You will only receive a letter via post office and also your account status will be changed to approved.

The above timeframe is average time for entire Australia. The  Victoria processing timeframe is more than the average timeframe. I think around 50%( 75000 out of 145000 ) of applications are pending from Victoria ONLY.

In South Australia  the same . Waiting already 14 months.

    Applied in Melbourne

    Jan 27, 2021

Estimate timeframe went from 10 months to 15 months for 75% of submissions but 24 months for 90%. Absolutely ridiculous.

It is ridiculous . I applied 19Nov 2020!!! My interview and test was on 28th of May 2021 and still waiting for approval!!! Ridiculous and unacceptable.

Every day I read posts from people getting more and more impatient that the date for their citizenship ceremony hasn’t been set.

Whats the rush? Why are people so keen to get the process completed, the test has been passed, most likely the status on the Immi account has been changed to approved, so why are people so desperate?

Id be interested to know other peoples views, I’m waiting for my ceremony, but am not expecting it to happen for at least 6-8 months and that’s being optimistic!

I can understand the passion. I’ll give you an example. Some people they study, after their ceremony they will be eligible for VET loan which is only for citizens, or they have been offered a job. So you see, sometimes you can’t just stop your life for 8 months. When you’ve got an opportunity for study or work you need to grab it, otherwise you will not have a chance after 7 or 8 months .

Hi guys I applied for my citizenship at the end of June,

Will my immi account show any updates as well as an email being sent, ie. a request for further information or invitation to the test etc.?

Just wondering in case I miss the email

    Thanks

    Jonathan

    Hi

you will receive an email to call you for an interview and test. Be sure you checking your junk mail as well. Also even if you loose the email , in your immi account you can always check the messages section and you will find a pdf copy of the email for an interview appointment. So relax and don’t worry.

have in your mind that the status will be not changed until the day of approval. It will remain “received “ until then . in other words is important for you  to check often your emails and messages section of your immi account

    good luck 😉

Status will remain as “Received”until you’ve taken the citizenship test and your application has been approved.

Status will changed to “Approved” on the day you sit the test given you do the test in a DHA office. Applications processed through centrelink centres may take up two 8 weeks for approval. Centrelink tests are more common in regional Australia or in areas DHA is not present.

Be patient. It’s gonna take a while.

That’s not correct ! Doesn’t matter if it’s through centrelink or DHA office . And sometimes is taking much longer than 8 weeks . Mine is already on 10th week through Adelaide DHA office and still waiting for approval. So the up to 8 weeks is not confirmed. Also not all of the application processed through DHA Offices will be approved on the same day. Note that in my application is not any problem non further documentation asked , so it’s a normal progress taking longer than usual. And if you read here you can find other people’s application took longer than 8 weeks

I wrote my citizenship test on May 26, passed, and had been waiting for approval. I just happened to check my immi account today and saw that my application had been approved on July 17. I did not receive any kind of notification that approval had been granted.

So for all who are waiting for an email to let them know their application has been approved, don't hold your breath as you may not get one. Keep checking your immi account as your first port of call for a change in application status.

Yes they don’t sent an email. They sent only a letter via post office and update the status in your immi account without notification. Unfortunately I wrote on 28th of may @Adelaide but still waiting . Your state?

    Question about approval here.

Does it always get approved in the ImmiAccount and then we receive letter? Or not necessarily?

    Regards,

Usually yes . You will not receive an email , just the status will be changed prior you receive the letter. But I’ve seen here in the forum in some cases this didn’t happen ( system error or something ) but 99.99% yes

    Hi guys

I had my test on 9th June passed with 100 percent. My application hasn’t been approved yet. In the interview case officer said they have applied my police clearance and he can only approve my application after receiving police clearance. Anyone gone through the same situation. How long it normally takes? Thanks

Passed the test on 28th of May still waiting . It’s case it’s individual so you can’t get a time frame. Just relax and wait if they need something they will contact you.
