  1. Thanks for your kind reply. No, I have never asked recruiters or HR why my applications got rejected. In my rejection emails it always said something like this: "After careful consideration of your experience and skills in relation to other candidates, unfortunately we are unable to progress your application further at this time". So that's why I dont bother to ask for the reasons why they looked down my application. Maybe I should call and ask them next time. Do you think they will tell the truth?
  2. Well, English is my second spoken language and my CVs/cover letters were checked by my former Canadian friends or colleagues (they are not professional though). Maybe my resume didnt look like an Australian one and so it did not get any serious attention from recruitment agents/HR.
  3. Thanks a lot Bungo for your reply and input. The thing is that I dont know what goes wrong in my applications. I have a quite number of years of experience in my field and there have been many jobs which match perfectly with my skills and qualifications. But still I got rejected in the first stage.
  4. Hi mates, I have been reading this forum for a while but this is my first post. I have worked as a microbiologist for the last 8 years in several developed countries such as Denmark, Canada and Japan but not in OZ (unfortunately). I moved to Australia in May this year and proactively applied for a job ever since. I have been applied for about 100 job vacancies in the last three months (both industry and academia) but unfortunately all I got was either rejection emails or nothing at all. Definitely I believe something is wrong in my CV/CL since I never get any interviews, although my friends and colleagues said my resume looks fine. Seriously I am considering using a professional CV/writer to get me a better chance with my job applications. The prices for this service are not that cheap though, as I have to pay about 200-300 bucks for one CV and 2-3 cover letters. Do you guys think it is worth to do? Should I go for it?
