Hi everyone, I found a post on here a while back which had a link to a really great web page on travel/health insurance for the initial move and can't for the life of me find it. The annoying thing is I book marked it but have downloaded a newer version of windows which has wiped my book marked pages! Grr!! Basically we are moving to Oz in December and are flying into Perth to see the family for 10 days, buying a car and shooting across to Townsville so will be getting Medicare in Townsville after our 3 week road trip. Anyone remember the post/link which offered reasonable insurance for up to 60 days? Or if anyone can personally recommend a company that you have used? There are soooo many online insurance companies out there! Help! Cheers!

Hi everyone, I am moving to Townsville and am looking at doing transport management from January 2016 and have been looking online for job opportunities. I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent agencies I could go through - just to get on their books, as I know its another 4 months until I'm there and applying for jobs directly seems a bit too much of a long shot right now! Any advice?

Hi everyone, I am going to be buying a car in Perth and was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent reliable 4x4? I was thinking of a Toyota but my boyfriend wants to get a Land rover...I have said that it might not be that easy to get parts for a Land rover as they have to get shipped...am I correct in assuming that?! We are going to be doing a huge road trip (5,600km journey) and I want to make sure we don't ruin the car before we even get to our destination in Townsville. Any advice on make and models for long journeys?! Ciao for now!

Cheers for that Bungo. We are planning on flying into Perth, spending time with friends and buying a car in Perth for our long term personal use in Queensland... So what red tape is there when driving a Perth Car across 4 states in a 2 week trip to Townsville? Do you think we should rent a car then buy one when we get to Townsville? Would that even be possible to rent state to state, as we're not returning to Perth? Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi all, Im sponsored by the Queensland government on a regional 489 visa & have booked my flights which go into Perth as we want to visit friends there & then drive across to Townsville. Is this going to be ok? I was worried that to activate entry we would have to fly into Brisbane Queensland... Also does anyone have any advice on buying cars as soon as you get there...as we don't yet have an address so were thinking of registering the car to our friends sddress initially until we get settled in Queensland. Any advice would be great thanks!

If anyone knows any pilot that works in & around Townsville please let me know contact details so I can get the low down! I have just got my visa & am flying out to Oz at the end of this year which is all very exciting! I have to work as a logistics manager for a year for visa compliance (489) & then I intend on commencing a career in aviation. I've flown fixed wing and have about 300hrs or so on these but have fallen in love with choppers after a few lessons. I want to be a commercial helicopter pilot & was wondering if there are any Pommies who have either gone over fully qualified & found jobs or have infact been trained out there & got a job? Im initially going to be based in Townsville so will be looking at flying schools around that area. Any advice on jobs, flying schools etc would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Thanks for that PommyPaul. Pictures look awesome. I think we will buy a landy & drive across as we have some time to kill & it would be good to check new places out along the way. BTW when you flew which internal airline did you use & was it fairly cheap? Just in case we have to fly.

Hi everyone, Has anyone driven across from perth to Townsville? We are debating internal flights or making a mini holiday of a road trip. was looking to spend up to 10 days driving bit want to know wheres good to stop en route for camping stop overs. Anyone done it? Any suggestions? If not, anyone flown internally? Hope u can help!! Cheers

I got mine on Friday and we started the whole process without an agent in Aug 2014, so less than a year. Once all documents were in, it took one month to process. So fingers crossed. They say it takes 1-3 months in processing times.
