  1. Pure unfounded speculation and paranoia. The news has always been full of fear and terror. Just because you failed doesn't mean the rest of us aren't doing very well out here. I love my surfy beach lifestyle thank you.
  2. Melbourne rental prices are a lot cheaper than Sydney so don't be put off by price. In my opinion the best outer suburbs are Eltham and surrounds in the North East because it's green and hilly and Mordialloc and surrounds in the South East because it's bayside and upmarket. Outer North and outer West are to be avoided. I've lived in both. Miles and miles of soulless lego houses as I call them. Any suburb circling the City is nice but expensive (to be expected) Point Cook is fine but all new builds. Good luck. Melbourne is a great place to live even though I've come down to Geelong now. Perhaps start in Point Cook for a year or two? Discover the city and then move again if needed?
  3. My wife is primary school teacher. She did CRT for 6 months. Then started getting regular days at a particular school. Then she got offered a position. Now she's ongoing and a leading teacher. It's like most things in life. You've got to show you're competent and build trust and then the doors open for you.
  4. You're in luck. They're advertising on radio, press and TV daily for prison officers here in Vic. Good luck.
  5. Hello everyone. Ive been living in Melbourne for seven years and I'd like to help people thinking of making the move themselves. Im here mostly to talk about settling in and struggles and just the day to day stuff and how it all feels after seven years. Id like to clear up misconceptions, Allay people's fears and just generally give my thoughts and opinions on what it's like for a Pom in Melbourne. Good and bad. Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
