  1. Hi, we are a also a same-sex couple moving over to Melbourne from Manchester (no kids though) and from what we hear it's a wonderful cosmopolitan city - but even, like Manchester, we're sure it will have it's fair share of homophobic people. I'll be definitely keen to hear which neighbourhoods might be best to go for. We were going to start with St Kilda for the first few months and move on from there.

  2. Hi, I've recently gone through the medical - details here if you wanted to read my experience

    - both me and my partner have a tattoo each and we never paid any more than the std rate and it was never mentioned in at the clinic. The std blood test screens for HIV and all forms of hepatitis so that should cover it (luckily we were ok!)

I've done the IETLS test in the UK recently but I've not come across the term ''functional English" before... I'm guessing it might be the relevent to the country in which you are taking the test?

Here is the breakdown from what I'm aware of from the UK if that helps:-

  4. Well, theres nothing to say there is a deadline. But I had incomplete documents for a couple of months sitting there, so they sent me a request for further information message, which then asked me to respond within 28 days. This is fair enough, I'm sure many people do the same and have to be prompted. I probably shouldn't have started the process so early until I had my documents ready, but then I had a deadline to apply due to state nomination. Bottome line is be as prepared as you can :)
