Hi please could I have recommendations for airlines going to Sydney.
We'll be flying from Dublin. 2 Adults, 2 Children and 1 Infant.
Thanks.
Hi Vicky,
From my experience the quickest way & simplest is with Emirates - Dublin -> Dubai - > Sydney
All other routes will mostly have more stop overs in bigger hubs like heathrow , singapore , hong kong

That's not such a onerous burden is it? I would have expected "English Breakfast" to be listed under the teas and coffees on the menu, along with Earl Grey.
I expect you were glaring at the waitress!?

I just got off the plane the night before & had a few sociable's after that , so lets put it this way, I was a bit fragile the morning after - Turned out to be a great hangover cure

It arrived, I've been granted a VISA , Happy Days

Friends,
Finally got my gloden grant letter today. The most awaited one (101 days since visa lodgement without any contact from CO or update). Dont know how all the frustration and sadness turned out to be a pleasure with that email. Thanks to the almighty and all the friends here who helped me and boosted when I was down. Wish all of you to get the grant soon.
Regards
Falcon
Happy Days Falcon,
Hopefully mine will be soon

An English Breakfast is a Tea, it is not an English Breakfast . I found out this the hard way when I ordered it , I was expecting an English breakfast but instead received a cup of coffee & a Cup of Tea & a very strange look from the waitress.

I GOT MY VISA GRANTED!!!!!!!!!! My 5 month old usually wakes for a bottle throughout the night so I check my emails then, she completely slept through last night so I've woke up this morning to 4 magic emails which are the visa grants for the whole family. This has been over 7 years in the making from convincing my then boyfriend (now husband) to not spend our savings on a house deposit but to travel the world with me instead, where we fell in love with Australia! A complete career change, a wedding and 2 kiss later here we are!
I hope all of you hear very soon about your own grants!! Is 6am too early for champagne?????

Happy Christmas Selina , great news & no 6am is not too early for champers

I'm a qualified nurse, born and bred in England, who has numerous qualifications including a batchelors degree with hons, post grad diploma plus other nursing qualifications but yet I seemed to have "failed" the reading and listening IELTS! It's so bloody frustrating!
I couldn't actually believe it! This now means I need to re-sit and pay them another £150!
Can any one please advise or give any hints/tips of how to get a better score in reading and listening?!
My my results are as follows -
L - 6.5
R - 6.5
W - 8.0
S - 9.0
overall - 7.5 (not that means much)
Any guidance or experiences much appreciated
thanks sam xx
Hi Sam
I was in the same boat as yourself, then my agent told me about the PTE , got what I needed & a lot easier . you should find some posts regarding it all pretty good .

Hi PomCop,
I am a native english speaker.
I'm in the same boat like yourself, Need the extra points or wait a couple of years
Yeah, I purchasd the Full Package , Two Test Exams & the Practice questions thats it mainly .
I honestly think for us native speakers the biggest challenge is to familiarize yourself with the exam layout , Forget about the points needed .
My first PTE exam I was stressed to bits about getting the points, Second exam I went in & just sat it , I new the format & just got myself comfortable & went at it .
Have you booked it yet ?

Well done Paul that is brilliant news!! You did really well. X x
Thanks Adele, much appreciated

Congratulations, that's classed as "Superior English" am I right? Also, 90 is the top mark. Any tips for us aspiring to that level?
Yes, It's classed as "Superior English" as I needed the 20 points.
Best advice I can give is to do the Practice exams & sample questions from https://ptepractice.com/
Once you familiarise yourself with the exam layout, I think it will make your job a lot easier.
Practise writing essays - At least one or two a day
Listening - Take Notes - keywords
Speaking - Just try to explain everything on the screen , Highest & lowest values in the charts, Values in the tables
Reading - be wary of the time, Read the paragraphs & then answer questions, Careful how many answers are required
Other than that, just try your best

Well Folks,
Sat my second PTE exam last night and I got the results this morning
R:90, S:90, L:87, W:81
Roll on the next step & I'm never speaking English again :arghh:
-
@Martyfenwick Doing mine in Dublin, They have exams every Monday @5pm & yes I'm trying for superior english & that point is going to cost another 200 euro
http://www.ces-schools.com/PTEAcademic
I was actually very worrried about the listening but the secret i think is just take notes (keywords) & then mash them up into a sentence.
The practice exams I did great in reading which is why I'm a bit surprised with that result
Writing is my downfall, grammer to be precise - Can I improve in a week ?
-
Well, just got my results , So close but yet so far
L:90, S:90, R:78, W:77
We go again next week.
