We have recently had quotes for Perth back to the UK in a 20ft container. The best quote we have received is just over $8000. Has anyone else recently had a quote from Perth to UK. Was it around that figure ? If is was less would you mind letting me know which company. Thanks EG

My husband is thinking that moving into IT contracting maybe a better option for employment when we go back to the UK. However he has only ever had permanent type positions and has very little experience of the process for gaining IT contract work. He is currently in IT Security and Risk. Does anyone have any experience on the IT contract market (moving from a permanent role to becoming a contractor). Is the current UK market for this line of work reasonably buoyant ? Thanks. CG

Thanks for the info. So if we meet the habitual resident test and if it takes a while sorting out jobs would we be entitled to benefits like job seekers or children's tax credit ? Does anyone have any experience of going back and managing to claim these. Have never claimed anything before so I have no idea what to expect. Is it relatively straight forward? Any advice or guidance much appreciated.

Due to personal reasons it looks like we will have to return to the UK (family of 4) later this year. Will have been in Auz about 2 years. We have always worked but if we are unable to secure a job in the UK before returning will we be entitled to any benefits to tide us over. Does anyone have any experience of returning and claiming benefits. What were you able to claim and how long did it take to come through. Any info or advice greatly appreciated. CG
