  1. Thank You Maggie. Helps a lot to have someone confirm what I suspected. Have a good day!!
  2. Hi everybody, up I pop again and sorry admin I forgot (yet again!) how to post a new topic!! So I am posting here hoping the thread will be show up on the list and you kind people can help me out there. So I went ahead and sent in 190 visa application on 13/4/2016. A month later I was told to submit some other documents which I did and then again the month later(15/06/2016) I was told to submit statuary declaration which I did promptly. Now its over a month and I am still waiting......!!! However what made me worried was that one of my friends who got PR before me said that usually a particular case officer is assigned to you and that you can correspond with them to find out the status. In my case each time they wanted my documents the person who wrote to me were of different names. Does this mean I have not been assigned case officer yet? I can't even write and ask because its a general email. I was told by my friend that she used to write to her case officer regularly!!! When I go into my immi account the status says ' this application is currently being assessed. The department may contact the applicant if further supporting documentation is required. For information regarding application processing times, please refer to service standards. Please note requests for status updates within this period will not be responded to.' I look forward to hearing from you all. Thank you.
  3. Thanks NicF. I was indeed hesitant to contact my uni because I was given the scholarship as an international student although I know that this Postgraduate scholarship is provided to domestic students too. Anyway, I think I will follow your advice and contact them. Any idea if we can reapply to state nomination we miss the deadline given?
  4. Hello all, Belated Happy New Year. I have an issue which I think people might find it bit strange. I made through all registration and assessment process well, lets not say smoothly but what's matter is that I have done it successfully. By virtue of the course I undertook earlier I was eligible to apply for PR and decided to make preparation to go ahead. Now here is my problem. I am currently on scholarship through University and when I planned for application I assumed my studies would be completed in Feb-March 2016. Keeping that in mind I applied for state nomination because their website said it will take around 12 weeks to get back to us. That, I thought was fine with me as I thought it will work out well with my studies timeline. I applied and lo and behold I got the nomination the very next day. I know I should be happy but that put all my plan into turmoil. Meantime my supervisors feels that I need to extend my scholarship by six months (which I think I might get). Now my questions are: 1. State govt gave me deadline to apply to DIBP within four months (and already one month has passed ). What will happen if I miss my deadline? Can I reapply again for state nomination? 2. Next is if I go ahead and apply for PR will it effect my scholarship (let me make this clear if I can continue and complete the course without scholarship and if they, the uni does not ask me to pay back the previous money spent on me I am happy!). 3. I am currently on International student visa till 2017, will I lose that too if I apply and am not successful? I would like to call upon all the people out there to help me out and if anyone of you have faced any similar situation. Thank you so much!!
  5. Sorry in continuation to the above, I called up to my previous employer who gave me the reference. He said ANMAC has not contacted him. He has given his office PABX numbers which is all the time busy.Do you think that could be the problem? ANMAC not being able to contact him? He said it is o.k to give his mobile phone number if needed. Do you think I should write that to ANMAC. I would really appreciate your help and advices in this. Thanks!!
  6. Hi, I am faced with the similar situation. I sent in my documents on August 10th 2015. A month later they wrote to me saying I need to re submit my professional reference which took me about a month to get. I re-submitted it on Oct 2nd 2015. I got the mail saying that they got the document and will be reviewing it 'soon'. Now its more than a month since I sent the reference and a total of 13 weeks since my initial submission. I have not contacted them as the website says we should not do so as it might cause delay in the assessment. I have been asking around and some have got theirs in less than 9 weeks. That is really worrying me. Do you think I should contact my case officer and find out what is happening? I asked around about that too but got diverse advices with some encouraging me to find out while some said it will be of no use.I am really in dilemma now. What should I do?
  7. Thanks Wildrover. My worry is whether 36 months that I spent teaching midwifery while all the time registered as midwife count as practice in the area of my skill. Anyway going to submit AHPRA's application tomorrow. Wish me luck!!
  8. Thanks for the reply. I am registered back in my country (Asian). I came across that example for professional reference. My doubt here is will teaching midwifery and not working in hospital be counted as skills for midwife or not? If I get professional reference it will be from the Nursing Superintended (the highest post of nurses and midwives) from the hospital where we conduct clinical practice for our students. In my country (sorry for personal reason I don't want to disclose my country's name)all nurses are midwives and there is no separate registration for midwives. we also do 4 weeks per year of clinical works apart from clinical teachings and supervision of students. However we are not paid by the hospital as it is a requirement by the school where I teach. I cannot ask professional reference from my school as the head is not RM or RN. I could wait for my phd to complete but then I lose out badly in age points and don't make it to 60 points after that. Any help, please.
  9. No help? No one with the same predicament as myself?
  10. Dear All, I would like to seek your help. I am doing ground work for seeking PR here. This is my background. I am RN-RM in my country and after two years of working in the hospital I started teaching midwifery till 2006. 2007 and 08 I was in Australia doing my PG and master in midwifery. After that I did not get registered here but went back to teaching in my country. Now I am back doing PhD in Nursing and Midwifery since 2013. I have decided to get registered as a midwife here. My questions are: while assessing for skills, will ANMAC consider teaching midwifery as well as clinical supervision (we also do two weeks of full time clinical practices in the hospital but that is the part of my primary full time job) as part of my skills? What is this 'professional reference' that ANMAC said we have to provide if we need extra points? What point is that? Is that related to the point that DIAC award for previous working experiences? Will DIAC consider my working experiences? What about the gaps in between which I spent on doing courses related to my skills as well as starting from 2013 till now? I have just gone ahead and done English test which I was successful but am in doubt if all my efforts, time and resources would be worth the effort. Looking for some pointers. Thanks!!
