  1. 19% doesn't sound as daunting as 32.5% though.
  2. After hearing that they are scrapping the idea of the 32.5% tax, A WHV now sounds like the great idea that it did. I'll be heading out in November this year.
  3. Hi John, wondering if you could answer a quick question for me please. What's the current exchange rate on £6,000?
  4. Sorry to bomb in on your post. So jealous of you going out so soon. I'll be out in may next year!
  5. Hi Ryan, Thanks for the detailed response. Helps a lot and all questions answered in the way I was hoping for. Adelaide looks like a very strong option for me as well, seems the best place to start if I want to travel to Melbourne and then Sydney after. Maybe even Brisbane if I have enough time. I plan on working as soon as I can when I land so I'm hoping I will be ok with money. I don't really mind what sort of work I do as long as it's bringing in the $. Farm work seems like something I will do 6 months into my stay if I decide I want to stay for another year. Which from all my friends explaining it seems like something I will do. Once again, thanks for the response, who knows, might see you out there next year Cheers
  6. I've heard that if you're willing to do any job, You will be ok there? Not to sure how true that is tho. I know I'll be waiting until next March just in case.
  7. I just want to go as quick as possible. But know I'll regret it if I go and then don't have enough money and end up having to come back early
  8. Ah cool. Where do you plan on going first?
  9. Oh wow. So I don't need to worry about applying just yet then. I can leave it a little closer. When are you planning on going over Stacey?
  10. Also. Does anyone have any information on how long it takes to get an answer on a visa? I haven't applied yet but don't want to leave it to late just in case it takes a long time to be approved/declined. Thanks
  11. Ha. Nothing is wrong with Leicester, just living in Leicester and working in Coventry, I never hear the end of it. Thanks for the advice all. Wish I could make this move sooner, but would rather have enough money to be comfortable while looking for work there rather than jump in and struggle in the first couple of months...
  12. So I think I should have enough with what I'm bringing then. Any times to suggest coming over and where to visit at certain times of year?
  13. Could be better to spend another £270 for another visa if it means you can save up more and be much more comfortable when you get there eh.... Still though, 3k is still around 5.5k over there at current exchange rates right? Wouldn't that be enough to get started? Do you plan on working when you get there?
  14. Thanks for the reply both. Living in Leicester there are always jokes about the place I live, so I'm sure it wont be much different . I'm pretty open to doing any sort of work so I hope that will play an advantage for me. It's nice that people think it's the best decision they've made, makes me want to do it even more and sooner. How much did you take with you to start up with Racheyleigh? And how much are you planning to take Stacey?
  15. Hey. Just got a few questions as I'm thinking of heading out to Australia on a WHV sometime next year, I know next year is a long time away but I want to make sure I have enough ££ to take. This is something I'd been looking to do for quite some time but never really got round to it. And now finally decided that it's time to do it. My brother and I are thinking of sometime around April, May next year. (Anyone here planning on going around that time?) So, onto my questions that I have. - What is a reasonable amount of money to take out there? Thinking of around $10,000 excluding flights and 1st week getting settled in. - Where would be an ideal place to start? I plan on working as soon as possible when I get there? - How hard will it be to find a hostel or place to stay when I'm there? - What sort of things would be seen as a necessity to bring with me? Not including things I can buy when I get there. - What do people generally think of it out there? - Is my maximum stay 2 years? - How do people act to English people traveling there? If anyone can answer just a few of these questions, it would be a great help. Would also like to speak with a few people that have been and come back/still out there. Or just thinking of going out there soon. Thanks in advance
