Hello, I came to Oz as a 15 year old with my parents and have been here 50 years and plan to retire back in England on the full Australian Age Pension. I did a working holiday in the mid 70's for a year and can obtain my National Insurance number. I am going over with my Australian wife and she is keen to move to Portugal instead of the UK. So, I am trying to work out how I can get an S1 Certificate of Entitlement from the UK so that I have medical coverage in Portugal (in case we do end up there). I understand I will need to back pay pension payments for 10 years and am sending away for a quote to find out how much that will be. But without the S1 Portugal is off the table. Has anyone any information on this please? Thankyou

Hello, I came out to Oz in 1967 as a kid with my parents and apart from a few holidays overseas I have lived in Australia. I did work in the UK for a few months in 1977. My wife (Australian) and I come up for retirement in three years and both love the UK and are keen to go there to live. (She did work in the UK for 2 years in the mid 1970's) We did get official 'numbers' when we were working over there, but can't remember what they were called or what they were for. We had to have them to show employers as we recall. We have been all over the internet trying to decipher what is required of us. We would be living on the Australian Aged Pension but would need access to the NHS. I am not asking any specific questions as we are so confused now, the more we read the harder it is becoming. Any info or links is going to be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tony
