  1. You can still consider employer sponsorship with the subclass 187 for PR? But, likely easier to take the State Nomination route, then find the work, any work, when you get here. I am with Ozmaniac, Gladstone could be the go. Research and approach some employers there. In NSW, consider Gunnedah, smallish place, but a bit on and the RCB would be happy to Nominate I would think.

  2. Sure is a quieter market than it was for ICT a couple of years ago. Part of the trick is to know you core expertise, research employers who will be interested in that, make the right approaches looking for conversations, then be relentless in maintaining contact and following up. Keep applying for advertised jobs for sure, but add to your potential luck with some well thought through relationship development work, hard yo do from offshore I know.

  3. Hi Terry

One of the challenges for any employer if inclined to go to the trouble of sponsoring you would be proving that they cannot find an existing Australian to do the work. You might be better considering other visa options at the immigration website, or consult a MARA agent. Sorry, can't help with salary, but there are guides available if you google Payscale.

  4. Larger employers will sponsor, but it is far easier and a more certain result to go with the 189 pathway, then deal with the regulatory issues as you lead up to visa approval and after you arrive. Up to date information is available at VBA, link below. Be prepared to have to build a business though, meaning you might need the finances to carry you through for a fair while.
