  1. Hi Knk, on a 189 skilled visa whoever's is the skilled applicant has to take the English test whether you are English or not in order to obtain enough points to qualify for the visa. We lodged ours around 2 month ago, we have been asked to provide police checks which we did straight away.. although we have been waiting for a medical form to be filled in and sent off from the hospital which has held us up a little, this will be going off this week and hopefully fingers crossed once received we will only be waiting another month or so.. I think the waiting is the same for anyone. Michele
  2. Hi Charlotte, I think its a long hard slog for everyone so don't be disgruntled!! we are going through a migration agent so we didn't have the issues that you are having with the information that they are requesting.. The migration agent just kept asking us for more and more forms, more and more things needed filling in and we thought what you are thinking now. By the time we got the the case officer the majority, almost all the information was there.. We had to obtain a dependency form also.. It would put a lot of people off but just stick at it we have and hopefully its going to pay off soon.. Our case has been going on for a long while and it has took its toll believe me it has been hard and it still is.. I suppose it sieves out the people who are really serious in migrating and are willing to see it through. I have been told its really worth it and i am hoping it is going to be all its cracked up to be! you only live once , keep going. Michele
  3. Hello everyone, We have applied for a 189 skilled visa this began in Feb 2015, we have just completed our medicals so that should be the last thing although we are awaiting on a report coming from the doctor for one of our children (i keep calling the hospital and alls i keep hearing is "he is very busy you know and patients do come first" I would pay for the damn report if he would do it quicker.. we have sold everything we literally own nothing at the moment apart from our clothes and our car and that is going soon!! we are living at parents (they have moved out) although relationships are strained as this has gone on for a lot longer than expected... this morning i have had a complete melt down, totally and utterly fed up!! i feel i need to either start a life in the uk or we need a decision either way, has anyone else felt like this at some stage... gets to a point where you feel exhausted and you just know even when you get to Australia its going to another hard slog!! don't get me wrong I'm not giving up and i am going to do it... just fed up of feeling squashed in a houses what isn't big enough, just not been living in your own home for over a year!! sorry to moan its just the way I'm feeling today, maybe tomorrow ill feel differently!!
  4. Hi, really enjoyed reading this post we are at the nearly end I'm hoping of our permanent visa application and everything you have said is what we are expecting. We have done a lot of research and are hoping we feel exactly the same and are going to give it our best shot. Glad your story is a good one and your happy!! I just hope that ours is the same.. :-)
  5. Hi, i have been reading all the messages, we are looking to emigrate in around 6 months time to the Goldcoast/nsw area actually right on the border Tweed area hopefully. My husband is a plumber with the highest qualifications he understands that he has to obtain his gap cert when we arrive in Australia the question i am asking is, is the work in this area at the moment? we are under no illusion that he is going to have to take a step back and its going to be hard work. Thanks Dimple
  6. Hi, we are looking to emigrate next year sometime and are wondering if there are companies that can help you get a job before you arrive? i work in an office as a contracts administrator and my husband is a gas engineer/plumber.. we already have a immigration agent.. Thanks M
  7. Thats not a good sign..its very important to us that the children have opportunities when they become of age..thats shocked me. Thats one of the risks then!!!! Thanks
  8. I have been looking at the house prices and sort of know what to expect we have had lots of advice so know the cost of living, going to try it and see :-/ thanks
  9. We have no illusions that it isn't going to be easy.. We don't think its going to be the beach every weekend we just think in the long run after getting work and getting settled we can fit in and the children will have more activities to do and when they are older there will be more opportunities for them.. And if it doesn't work we can always come home, at least we have tried it and won't live with the regret.. thanks
  10. Thanks. This is what we are going to do i think....
  11. Thanks for your reply theres a lot to think about, you get a lot of advice. We had our heart set on Perth but there's no point going somewhere where there isn't any work.. Kind Regards Michele
  12. thanks for your help!!!! we will keep looking into it.. We are still going through the Visa process at the min so we have got a lot of time to think.. do not fancy working 6 days a week... will have a look at Newcastle area and see what we think.. thanks again :-)
  13. We have people we know in Perth and the climate is hot which we like although we have been looking at sydney suburbs also as we know someone who works for the government in construction and there seems to be lots of jobs there although cost of living is much higher . We have been looking on jobs sites and there seems to be quite a lot of vacancies. We wanted to move to Perth to be closer to the Beach although we don't have to be directly on top of the beach a drive away will do. We don't want city living.. hustle and bustle! rat race material... Would like a house with a pool, 4 bedrooms. We are going to rent first until we find our feet.. Don't get me wrong we have looked into this thoroughly but people say different things and it gets your mind thinking as its such a big move...
  14. we are moving over as a family looking to move to Perth if there are the vacancies... secretarial admin work for myself and plying work for my husband....
  15. We are looking to move to Austrailia in the next 6 months and had our mind set on Perth but have recently been informed that the plumbing industry isn't as good as it was an there are not as many vacancies.. We are obviously moving to Austrailia for a better lifestyle although if there is no work then this will not be the case!! Could anyone advise the best place to move with the most jobs? Kind Regards
