  1. Hi Melanie, I'm going through the same thing... my UK employer is going to keep me on so I work remotely over in Oz... I think I am going to set up my own Limited company/sole trader and then they will pay me a retainer each month to work for them. What I am then not sure about is how to set this up in Oz and how much tax I would pay, is there anything else that would be deducted from this?
  2. What an amazing feeling... got our Grant this morning!!!! Lots of emotions being felt today!!
  3. Yes that is a bit weird Pinkestlady... no wonder everyone gets confused with all the different information!! Maybe she just meant for the skills sector we're going under? Just had a look at that link above, and it does give the impression that they are not taking any more applicants, not that those who have already been invited to apply and got a CO will have to wait! It would make no sense, that after your CO had been assigned you would be made to wait at that point for a couple of months!
  4. Hi Guys... I have spoken with my migration agent who we are going through the process with and she has explained that it is only the 450 and 190 visas that have a quota limit, not the 189 visa! So all those in this thread who have applied on the 189 visa should be absolutely fine and won't find a delay for that reason! xxx
  5. Why what has been said? The wait is already driving me mad!! xx
  6. We have used the Emmigration Group as well and they have been great... they are based in Chester!! Just waiting for ours now! xx
  7. The wait continues... this is painful!! Hope everyone else is coping better than me, my husbands even worse and checking his phone every 2 minutes! Good Luck for this week everybody! xx
  8. Congratulations Greggy, brilliant news!! We have now submitted everything that the CO wanted (Medical and Police check) so just waiting now! Has anyone experienced a quick turn round from when the extra info was submitted or have you all had to wait a bit? xxx
  9. Medicals and Police Check are now done so they should have everything they need by the end of today!! Hope we don't have to wait too long... my husband is already checking his e-mails every minute!!
  10. Hi Everyone... Just received first contact from CO requesting medicals and police checks so off to get these booked now! Very exciting day!! Does anyone know whether once these are looked at immediately or whether you get put back on a wait list?? xxxx
  11. Fantastic... they really are getting through these quite quickly! We applied on the 17th Feb so hopefully will hear something soon... not had our medicals or police checks done yet on the recommendation of our emigration agency so they will just come back and ask for more information, instead of a direct grant!! Congrats again, and good luck with the move!! xx
  12. Congratulations Doctdavis!!! When did you apply??
  13. Thanks Grant, Yeah I think I will give our visa agent a nudge and get these medicals booked and Police check done, I think they just like to put them off a bit, as this is the one thing with a expiry date. Does anyone know whether as part of the Medicals they look at your Medical records from Doctors? Or is just an in person test? Thanks Again x
  14. I have seen that as well, just been on that spreadsheet and a lot of the December people have got theirs approved! It looks like it is down to just a 2 month wait at the moment. Feel like we should be having our medicals etc now but not wanting to seem too over eager! We are not planning to move out till the end of September due to work and holiday commitments, but it would be nice to know we have it as soon as possible! And the wait is definitely an anxious one!!
  15. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to add to the thread... we had our invitation to apply on Thursday 12th Feb, and then our Emigration agency submitted our documents on the 17th Feb. So now is just the wait! We have not booked our medicals or Police Checks as yet, waiting to be instructed on this one I think! We are going to the Gold Coast, Queensland on a 189 skilled visa, my husband is a engineer!! Looking forward to seeing how this goes!! xxx
  16. I have a lot of client contact, but it is more e-mail based than anything else really, and my employers don't seem to mind... suggesting to work say 12noon - 8pm maybe so I have a couple of hours of overlap with the UK office so I can chat with them. I'm not sure whether in the long run it would work, but think it might be a bit of security whilst we make the move! They would also want me to travel home once a year for an event we organise plus a couple of trips to America as this is what I do currently within my role, so I wouldn't really be able to work out in Oz to top my money which is the issue and worried the English wage won't support the Australian lifestyle... we are aiming to move to Gold Coast!
  17. Hi Everyone... New to the forum to join in, but have always had a sneak peak when needing some questions answered and found really helpful, so thanks! We have just submitted an EOI for a 189 visa, (my husband is an aircraft engineer so going on the back of him) everything is done, ILETS, Vetassas etc and we are going in with 65 points. Hopefully we will get invited pretty quickly and then we can get our Medicals and Police Checks under way! Anyway, I have told the company I work for that I am leaving already as I work for a small company and have one of those jobs that does a bit of everything and would be a bit difficult for someone else to just walk into. I have already agreed to work for them until the beginning of September, so the plan is to go then. However they have offered me to work remotely from Australia so they can keep me on in some capacity. So, I wondered whether anyone had any experience with that, and if I was to do that, what would be the pitfalls of doing this money wise etc? Would I have to work for them on a freelance basis or would they pay me in the UK as they always have done, and then I would transfer? It's something I need to have a chat with them about, and I am sure they will have their own opinions but if anyone has any experience with this, or knows any pitfalls so that I can be prepared for just so I'm not getting myself into a situation that doesn't work very well... Many Thanks for listening! L
