Thank folks. A couple of other people I spoke to today reckon I don’t need to pay any tax on the sale of our house.
-
I know this topic is a month old, but we are in the process of using Conroy. They use Anglo Pacific in the UK. Conroy team were in and out of our three bed house, packing a full 20ft container in around five hours. Very reasonably priced and we got a good feeling. We are tracking the ship which is in Singapore now, so well on target for their 9 week delivery date.
We used that combo (Anglo Pacific/Conroy) in the opposite direction 4 years ago. Very pleased both ends.
We were quoted by Chess and Pickfords several weeks ago. Chess were expensive, and Pickfords came in around the same as Conroy.
Good luck.

Hi team.
We have just moved back to Scotland from Australia and sold our house (exchanged contracts) about three hours before we got on the plane!! What a relief that was.
It means that we are still waiting to settle (get our money). This is due before the end of the month.
I'd like to understand if we are due to pay Capital Gains Tax in the UK on the property we just sold in Oz.
We were residents of Australia, not the UK, when we signed the contract. We are now UK residents and will be when the money comes into our account in Australia. So I'm unsure what HMRC will expect in terms of CGT.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Updated again with new information since last post.....
(also deleted application details pre 2015 - to see previous ones it was posted 18/11/15 page 1278 - http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/58449-summary-spouse-visa-processing-times-offshore-uk-please-add-your-stats-1278.html).
If there are any mistakes, please let me know. Also any more info to go in, please let me know - there are quite a few gaps. Thanks

Hi Tracy. Good to see someone carrying this list on. I was granted the 100 visa, so delighted not to have to wait the extra period. We have now applied for a mortgage and have been told by the broker that it wouldn't have mattered if I was on a 100, or a 309, or even the 457 that I'm on at the moment. Commonwealth Bank are happy as long as we've got the 20% deposit and a salary coming in on a permanent contract. But the 100 was the icing on the cake ?
-
As some may know, we are already in Canberra on my 457 visa, but I got my Depart for Grant letter yesterday. So that is seven months, three weeks and four days. They didn't say whether I've got the 100 though. I'll ask that when I reply with my date for re-entry. It'll probably be January before I get to New Zealand though.
-
Of course I will. The timelines are vital for others' sanity during this long drawn out process.
Cameronsdad that's fab news, have to keep us in the loop on your visa being granted, as like jen44 and gooserenders we will be not to far behind you for ours -
That wasn't us, we were in for Botox
Small world indeed- how's your husbands arm? He was heavily strapped up after giving blood. I got away with not even needing a sticky plaster.
Hi CameronsDad, that's great news! Funny enough, I think we met you, your wife and little Cameron at the time of the medical!! My husband was doing the medical before you & William, our wee one, was playing with your son! What a small world! :-)Hope all the packing and preparation goes smoothly for you all!

Folks
I've not been on the forum for a while, but it's good to see the amount of grants coming through. Congratulations to all you new visa holders!!
My update is that a company who were interested in me have offered me a position which I accepted, then they went for a 457 visa through an on-hire agency. That visa was granted yesterday and we have booked our flights for 24th October. I have agreed to leave the country when I am due to have my 309/100 granted, which I hope is around the middle of January. I will work for the agency, on hire to my intended employer until I get the 309/100.
So it is all systems go now :err:
-
This is my first post after lurking for a while. I submitted my partner visa on Sunday and am in the process of uploading all my documents the same as you, Bound4Tassie.
I do have one question: does anyone know the best document category to use for our personal statements? I haven't yet found an appropriate one.
We didn't do any separate personal statements. They were done as part of the application form itself.
-
Hi everyone.
I have decided to take a chance and book my flights to Australia on the 16th December.I am hoping that due to the recent grant coming in around the nine month mark that my visa will be approved around November. The reason for this is my work contract finishes in December and my partner would like to be home for Christmas with her family. Also there was a bargain flight to Bali with a week hotel stay then on to Sydney for the same price of a direct flight.
My stats are:
Visa applied for 309\100 hoping for straight to 100
Applied 18-02-2015
Co assigned 10-03-2015 (vf)
Medical & police check 04-03-2015, early but didn't know I had to wait
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks
That is out on a limb. And I really hope it works out for you. Are you going on an visitor visa if the PMV is not complete?
I also have VF and applied a few weeks after you. Have you had any indication from the CO that you could get a grant by then? I'm discussing a job at the moment and any indication would be a good guide for me.
-
Got my CO the day after giving them my visa assessment form in, they are pushing for it to go in before end of June before prices go up for it, iam paying an agent to do it ,so much easier. So do t know if it is different if you do it yourself online you have to wait but with an agent you I got it the day after
Do you mean that there is someone at the agency that is your contact there? I doubt if you have an Immi CO without even having lodged your application.
-
Is that the date the forms actually go in CameronsDad ie with immi ? If so hold off putting me on lol
I'm sure it's when your forms go into immi. If you have a CO, then does that mean your agent has submitted?
it was actually Pookie who has done the spreadsheet so I can't take any credit I'm afraid.
-
Hopefully you get yours early then as well!
We have been together for 7 years and have two children so we were hoping we would get the 100! Are you in a similar situation?
We have lived together for four years and been married for two years. Our son is one in September. That fulfills the criteria that Nemesis describes but I'm not sure if we will get it. I hope it's a straight black or white decision that our CO makes and we too go directly to PR.
-
Hi CameronsDad, is the CO's initials not in the subject of the email? Mine went: Application/visa reference number, CO's initials, my name, then 'sec unclassified'
You are told to keep that subject in any correspondences to the london migration email address, presumably so the right person looks at it. That's what I did anyway and my CO emailed me this morning.
BTW I applied for my Working Holiday Visa on Thursday and it still hasn't been granted! This is nearly as nerve-wrecking as waiting for the 309.
You're spot on. It was in the subject line of the email all along.
My CO is VF!!
-
We just got the grant email!!!!! And straight to 100! So excited I'm still shaking! 8 months 24 days! Bubbles tonight!!!!!!!
That is fantastic ADGT. You have the same CO as me, I think. She didn't sign her email with a surname.
What are your circumstances that led to you going directly to PR?
-
SOOOO I'm another lucky person today too….. i got quoted 10-14 months and i just got my 309 visa grant notice!! 8.5 months! i can't believe it. Il still be leaving in august but I'm so surprised it came through this early. good luck to everyone still waiting. :cute:
Well done. Brilliant news.
-
This is brilliant Pookie. I love spreadsheets ha ha ha
Join the Queue! How we Brits love a queue!! Thought I'd pass a bit of time whilst I'm waiting and make a list of known applicants from when the application was submitted.
Please let me know if I've missed you off, or have had your visa granted. Turns out there's a fair few of us and I'm sure a few silent members/guests out there.

Yeah I seen someone put that they lodged on the 6th September on another website.. I'm already in Australia and my holiday visa expires in the middle of August so I'm crossing fingers and toes that mines gets granted before then because I don't think they will extend my holiday visa because I've been in Australia since June 2014. Never expected to wait this long since the Australian immigration website says it's 5 months for visa grant then we lodge it and Australian embassy in London say 10-14 months but nearly there now.
Hi mate, are you working in Australia at the moment?

Hi,
anyone else late have case officer 'vf'
thanks
My CO didn't provide her surname but her first initial is V.
-
Congratulations to all you recently granted visa holders. Well done. Your lodgement to grant times are really encouraging for the rest of us on 10-14 months waiting times

Visa Granted!!
We applied online on the 11th of August 2014, Case officer issued three days later, LC. Medical and Police check due in November 14. Quoted 10-14 months. Visa approved two weeks early on the 28th of May! So happy I could burst.
Fantastic news congratulations!!!

There is a receipt sent in off format for online applications but I'm afraid I've no idea how the manual process is handled.

Thanks Bobby. Nothing to get excited about then.
To all those who returned home for good....

One of my first thoughts was "I need to buy an umbrella!".
Genuinely it was a mixed feeling. We would happily have stayed in Australia if returning to the UK wasn't an option, and we were so upset leaving friends and family there (my wife is Australian). There was still a raw feeling of departure when we landed in Glasgow. Gradually, over the next few days when the sun shone a bit and the lush, beautiful, green landscape appeared out of the jet lag haze, the butterflies in the belly were hard to contain.
It is a very lucky (and maybes also a bit unlucky) situation to be in, having two places that you feel at home. I have to say, though, Glasgow is definitely No 1 Home.
