  1. No, that is a good point you made about the differences between state and federal Government Bungo- gets very complex! Fingers crossed it won't change anytime soon then......
  2. I read about it on here..... http://www.gmskilled.com/skilled-regional-sponsored-489-regional-qld/
  3. Hi there, I will be looking to go for a 489 visa (family sponsored) in a couple of years after I have completed my Masters degree. Someone has mentioned to me that they think the designated area will be changing....particularly on the Sunshine Coast. My sister lives near Caloundra with the postcode 4551 and this (apparently) will be scrapped from the designated area....? Just wondered if anyone else had heard this? Many thanks Mrs H
  4. Hi there, Am exploring every which way of getting to Oz! Qualified as a Primary teacher in 2004 after doing a 3 year BA with QTS. I haven't taught for the last 4 years as I have been at home raising a young family but am now ready to head back into the world of work or indeed further education. Toyed with the idea of doing a Masters in Early Years to give me the required extra year at Uni however sadly I can't pursue the Early Years Teacher route as my teaching practices were only in the 5-11 age range. (They weren't as I actually did a Nursery placement but my Uni refuse to acknowledge this on paper...Grrrrr and will only state I was assessed in the age range of 5-11) So, am now wondering if I could do a PGCE in Secondary Education in order to get my extra year at Uni and also it is on the (newly revised) SOL list. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.....
  5. Just to let anyone interested in this that I had an email back from AITSL. They said that they can't do any pre- application assessment but to look at the guidelines about teaching practice requirements. I looked over it again and sadly I would have needed the age range to start from 3 and not 5 as my school experience/teaching placements did. So despite a MA in Early Years, teaching experience in EY and 90 days on teaching practice because my school placements were from 5 and not 3 then I am pretty much stuffed :-(
  6. Not the first time I've been referred to as tricky...! Thanks for your thoughts- I think I will send an email to AITSL although whether they will give me a straight definitive answer is another thing... Thanks again
  7. Hi there, Can any of you help me with my query? I have a BA Primary Education with QTS 3 year degree and a one year MA in Early Years Education. I have a letter from my uni stating that I have had 90 days supervised and assessed teaching practice in the age range 5-11. I know early years is classed as 3-8 so will this be sufficient to satisfy AITSL skills assessment? Many thanks for reading and fingers crossed someone can help. Nikki
  8. Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me with my query? I have done a 3 years Primary Education degree and also a Masters in Early Years education, which gives me the 4 years at uni requirement in Australia. In order to satisfy the skills assessment for a pre- primary (Early Years teacher) I need to have at least 45 days teaching practice in the age range 3-8. The age range I was assessed in was 5-11 (with much of it in the age range 5-8) Does anyone know if this will still be ok? Thank you in advance for any help with this. Nikki
  9. Hi there and thanks for taking the time to read this..... I have a BA Primary Education with QTS degree (3 year course). I realise that I have to have another university year in order to meet the requirements to teach in Australia. I have 3 years work experience (as a Primary teacher) although I have recently had time out to look after my young family. I was wondering if I should do a PGCE in Early Years or a Masters in Early Years ( I wish to work in Early Years regardless) ? Do any teachers (or anyone!) know if one of these is favoured or indeed required more than the other? I would happily do the PGCE however I wonder if I will be merely repeating my degree even though the QTS part isn't recognised in Australia. Hope all of this makes sense...it's late here!! Any advice would be very very much appreciated.
  10. Hi all, This is my first ever post on here, so I just wanted to say 'hi' to begin with. I have a 3 year BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS and understand that Primary teachers are no longer on the SOL list and also require 4 years of higher education. I was thinking of doing a MA in Early Years regardless in the UK as I have come to enjoy working with that age group. Does anyone know if this will class me as an Early Years Teacher for visa purposes? (Early Years and Special Education teachers are on the SOL list at present. I will also need to boost my points (being in the 40-45 age bracket) so would have to consider state sponsorship to a Regional area to do so. Would ultimately love to reside on the Sunshine Coast as that's where my sister who is a midwife emigrated to 4 years ago. Thanks for reading and any advise is very much appreciated...
