  2. I am a ICU nurse and i would like to stay working in that speciality. I will have 6 years expeeience in that role the time I head to Oz. We would like to move to Melbourne or Geelong or somehwere down a great Ocean Road sorta direction ? I plan to work full time in a critical care unit and my husband will work as a teacher at high school so wasnt sure what sorta accommodation we would be able to afford but would like a place wij a garden for our dog etc
  3. Hi trying to work out the living costs in Australia compared to the UK and salary as a nurse. Lots of ppl telling me it's really expensive to live in Oz and the higher salary out there for nurses dosnt even balance up? Can anyone help me? What is rent like for a 2 bed apartment - what is a ICU nurse full time wage out there ? Are here any Nurses on here that have moved from UK that regret it ? Or love it ? Looking for some info please. What is the shift pattern like ?
  4. Also I have a full nursing degree with distinction and a critical care course certificate
  5. I will have 6 years post grad ICU experience the time I move over ! Yeah I heard about AHPRAH and the changes - looking to stay in ICU and either gain a sponcered visa or I may join healthcare Australia which a few of my friends have done but they do this to travel I would want a perm base and travel on my annual leave to Other parts of Australia to see the sights and go to Japan /Thailand /China etc -
  6. I replied here but not sure why it didn't work - I am 31 husband 33 - The scottish teacher training is valid in Oz as its a 4 year degree same as one in Oz unlike the English degree that is 3. To do teacher training its 31000 aus dollars ! Eeek. Looking to move over for 5 years or permenantly and I would want to work in ICU, I read that ICU nurses require a post grad to work in ICU in Oz unlike scotland ?
  7. Aw don't say that - I am planning to move to Melbourne ( from scotland ) how is Melbourne?
