Hi Pablo

Sorry mate, I didn't know you had replied in Feb.

I ended up calling Go Matilda and they have been great so far. Things have changed a bit since you went in '08 I should imagine but the fees seem similar. I am going to app on a 189 after my talk with a guy called Matt. I have a wife and 4 kids so there is a bit of cost there to consider so all in all I am looking at approx £8500-£10000 (they Oz gov put the family costs up 50% if we don't start before July) so I need to get that all together.

Exciting and nerve shredding as it all hinges on the Vetassess and my field is specialist and it is covered under general fitter (I install Hydraulic testing systems) so if they ask me questions about what General Fitters do then I am going to be chucking £1000 away ..... fingers crossed.

The good news is 189 gets me permanent (the people we used last time out said we would only get in on a visa which had 2 years)

Thanks for the messages

Hi Pablo,

Thank you very much for the message. I am going to contact them on Monday and see what they say. I have used a place in London at the end of 2013 and they wanted £2000, all up front, but they did run me through a whole load of questions and said I would get a 189, 190 and 457.

What do you know about the costs of the visa? This company said I would have to pay approx £10000 (inc their fees) for the visa (£3300), practical test/exam (£2600), written test/exam (£860), medicals & Police checks (£700 each for me and my wife) and their fees of £2000.

Does this seem about right to you?

Cheers

Steve
