  1. If your travelling with your partner who holds an australian passport you can go through with them in the aussie queue, when I travel with my wife who is an aussie I go through with her and have been told by border control its not a problem. When arriving back in the UK my wife comes with me through the british passport queue. I suppose if your travelling alone then stick to the correct queue.
  2. Hi Diane, I'm very early forties so I just meet there criteria for membership but I think I'll feel like a fish out of water as it seems to be more for bikers in there later years of life. When you put biker and not bikie I thought bikie was a cyclist until I googled..... aahhhh I see its not a cyclist. cheers
  3. Thanks for that furkew, all this just seems like common sense to me but it's good that there at least now making changes.
  4. "These helmets must have a mark showing that they comply with the Australian Standard, AS/NZS1698. If the helmet has a face shield or visor it must meet the Australian Standard, AS1609" I have 3 lids all of which cost over £300 each and unless I can get hold of a wee sticker I might as well try and sell them. So I presume if theres a traffic jam I have to just sit there in the traffic as filtering would get me a ticket? might as well just drive. Just been reading some info from the link you posted (thanks) some interesting ideas and some crazy. I'll just have to adapt I quess, I love biking and cant give it up will have to look and see how much an aussie lid costs.
  5. Hi All As a biker ( motorbike) who has been commuting from surrey into London every day for years and had many close shaves with all other kinds of road users and pedestrians. I was wondering how biking in Melbourne compares to the madness I go through at present. I will be arriving in April and hopefully be replacing my beloved 750s for something new and shiny soon after arriving, I would be interested in hearing a few stories from other bikers in Melbourne, and how do the laws differ on road use for bikers?. Would also be interested in local meets and social rides, possibly biker clubs or groups If anyone can recommend something that would be great.
  6. Ksarah, We probably will stay on the peninsula as oh family live in frankston and safety beach, got to be near the baby sitters and the beach.
  7. I'm not sure about that, you'll have to ask an agent or check the immi website, as my two are britsh citizens they both needed medicals.
  8. Sooooo looking forward to the move, 12 weeks and counting. Where in Melbourne did you settle? we're heading for Mount Martha as OH has family in the surrounding areas.
  9. Hi bound4tassie As Ksarah has mentioned once you register your kids as aussies citizens by descent (before submiting your application) you dont pay for them on the application, but have to be added as dependents, buts its only you who will be granted the visa as your kids are already citizens and will not need permission to enter. We just did'nt get round to it before I applied. Good luck
  10. Hi ozmaniac and thank you, it was a long process to get the visa and the documents and paper work was something else. Luckily I did'nt have to pay for child number 2 as he was born mid application but the first had a uk passport very soon after birth as she had her first oz trip at three months, but they will be registered as aussie citizens on arrival. I would have done a few things different if I had to do it all over again though.
  11. Hi and thank you for the welcome Melza, no work lined up as yet will be sending out my cv to a few recruitment agencies in the coming weeks though, but to be honest i'm in no hurry to gain employment on arrival. I was thinking of having a few weeks off and traveling up the coast with the kids first.
  12. I’ve been lurking here for a number of weeks now and thought I might as well say Hello. I suppose a little background info is always helpful in these posts, soooo.....I'm male married to an Australian for the past 6 years with 2 bonnie wee bairns of 2 yrs (girl) and 6 months (boy) and we submitted our application for spouse visa back in March 2014 and after a long wait and expense I got a phone call just before Christmas from the embassy saying my application has been successful, and me and my kids have been granted PR. It’s all been a bit surreal as now it’s all happening very quickly for us with the house going on the market and in 2 days have received offers already, clearing the loft and skiping the junk. We leave on the 1st of April to set up home in Melbourne, which is where my wife's from and staying with relatives for a few weeks before getting on with life again. I am so excited and can’t wait to start our new Aussie life. So, Hello Australia and Good Bye UK B
