  1. You will not be eligible ... currently you have to have lived in the UK for 2 years before claiming benefit. I know this because 10 months after our arrival back in UK our son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and we were told the 2 year rule at the time we placed an application for carers allowance. We will wait until March and re-apply for the PIP allowance for him.

Sorry to hear about t1 but I never applied for dla till nearly two yrs after diagnosis... Then moved to Oz and been here a year and only just found out about carers allowance.... Hope all going ok x ps have you found all the fb support group, pages?

  2. We did the reverse... Met hubby (Australian) in UK, lived there 15 yrs paid xx on visas and indefinite leave to remain. Always knew we'd like to try Oz for us n kids. Thankfully discovered before we left that hubby's visa wd be null n void for UK after returning here /difficult to get renewed and costly. So he applied for UK citizenship and got passport. Plan is for me to do at least 4yrs here n get passport/citizenship and can choose wherever we want to be.

Location in UK, depends on work preferred weather and what you like doing in spare time.

Friend also staying to get citizenship here but doesn't know where to next

good of luck and enjoy travelling the next while xx

ps friends become family but yes it's different. I have in laws but also different... My parents wd happily see us a few days a week, when we see in laws here they say cu in a few weeks.... Lol

  3. We've used both. Depends how much you're sending but in general transfer wise always put more into our account at the end of the transaction. But if any hassles with ID, then you have moneycorp as back up.. Hubby says it was easy setting up transfer wise, create account and scan in ID when asked. He used aus passport and can move money anywhere x

  4. Hi Kevsan, I am an experienced DBA and would be glad to know openings you have. Can you please PM me your business contact or website?

Hi hook turn, where ru based and what do u class as experienced dba? Job market in Brisbane quite saturated apparently...

  5. Didn't expect to be out of work for so long... Probably the way we both brought up... Neither of us ever had to claim anything, we've both worked from age 16/18... Moved in January sold house in UK so got money in bank and feels wrong to claim but said to hubby today we need to look as paying 575/week in rent....plus food bills etc.. And kids keep growing lol(not complaining about buying clothes honest..) but let's be honest all the bigwigs who earn $$$ manage to offset tax....

@huske we moved January this year, with AP but insured with Letton Percival , had to claim, we had so many days to advise what we where claiming then had to upload pics with a month I think.. Pay out easily without any hassle tbh x remember to insure and take into account xs on policy. We forgot about that and we had under insured our cabinets...

  7. But It advises to get the person doing confirmation to also do the reflective piece And confirmation doesn't have to be uk nurse...I will be using line manager for both and can't see where it says I can't?? I am no longer in touch with any uk nurses

Your confirmer can be another regulated health professional or overseas regulated health professional.. But reflective discussion must be nmc... Ludicrous .. But I'm presuming its so you are jointly reflecting and they have awareness of most recent nmc code... The confirmer needs to tick a few boxes ..

when in 2017 are you due to re validate? Maybe we should set up an nmc reflective discussion group-nurses still on nmc in aus who can do discussion... Will let you know how I get on. The forms are all online and easy to use x

  8. They definitely want an nmc registered nurse to sign the reflective form. An Australian nurse can sign the confirmation form but not the reflective one.

just went thru re validation paperwork and yes you need an nmc registered nurse for reflective discussion. They want face to face but happy for video call.. Skype /ft wd work.

You don't need to upload anything but if they ask for stuff you need to have it within a short time frame... As someone else said, have u kept in touch with any nurse friends in UK still nmc registered? Quick chat sign n done :) if u have problems I see oh dear has offered. I'm in Queensland but not worked for 12months... Pm if u need anything x

  9. Just catching up on this I am re validating and moved here in January. I did a lot of legwork before I left. Worked in gp land so lots of reflective chat and regular pdp things.. So thankfully all I needed to do was write it up to let my old boss read it and then I can re validate. You only need to say you have done it all when u go onto nmc online but they expect it uploaded ASAP if you are asked for proof. I'm sure it's nmc site you can find forms on.. I'm keeping it for next 3yrs and hopefully by then I know if we're here forever or not... But my understanding was a foreign nurse could sign us off... Current manager.. Ideally they want nmc registered...

  10. We had the same dilemma last year but I wanted another Christmas at home... So we booked flights for January 4th and had a holiday for a week but stayed with in laws and visited school to sort uniforms etc and looked for a rental. January in Gold Coast is a very busy changeover time for rentals. Lots come up but lots of people viewing too... Hindsight maybe coming in October would have been better but hey ho you do what's right at the time..

My friend actually went travelling in Asia for a few weeks before landing in Oz she was waiting for or to be activated and approved. Would have been t we decided to come straight over as we had 5suitcases and day packs... Not conducive to travelling in my opinion. Good luck. Yes lots of kids start at different times of the year..

@adele244 my brother in law live out at spring mountain. They live on acreage and commute into city, one works Milton other in fortitude valley (city centre) but sis in law has parking at work. They occasionally get the train. Yarrabilba is nice and robelle parklands but tbh your prob suits all ages but mostly younger kids. Their son at greenbank school. I always loved Redlands near Cleveland etc but wanted within half hour of beach so down the Gold Coast all good except for hubby work x

  12. We used Anglo in dec 2015, think cost 3500-3700£?? The guys that came were v good and packed quickly. One item I queried if they broke they denied.. It never arrived... It was only a sentimental teapot ornament but not the point and all my bedroom cabinets were broken underneath. May have been a bad design but tbh they ought to have packed them better and advised us of risk if that was the case. Also found a small TV in amongst a box of clothes...thankfully no damage..Communication was great till they had our stuff and money... Then delayed leaving UK (tbh it was Christmas time too) and then delayed in Singapore.... Stuff was packed dec 17th/18th... We never received it till March 11th.... I wouldn't be against using them again. Friends used pickfords minimal hassle and small claims too. Another friend using crown in a few weeks who we had considered too. Good luck. Ps we had insurance with Lytton Percival. No hassle claiming and payout x
