I've just received my 189 visa a few weeks ago. I'm looking to move in May next year and would like to at least try to have a job organised first. What is the best method to apply for jobs. My degree is in Systems Engineering (of the Project Management variety), but I work currently in a claim handler role in an incoming only call centre for motor insurance claims. I kind of enjoy that work and if it's more readily available I'd love to do that until I find something more stable and better paying. Also how soon before going should I start searching for jobs? Any help would be massively appreciated.

I'm off to Perth. I'm soooooo excited. I have some great friends awaiting my return I'm travelling in early 2016. My entry date is before 24th July. Probably aiming for Feb or March.

I got it Direct Grant. September 16th. Offshore. I'll add info to database when I go downstairs on my laptop.

Another person got a direct grant who is Onshore also.

The one today was an onshore applicant. Will be happy when we have a confirmed Offshore applicant

6 weeks have passed now. Even if that person in the database isn't being truthful, we should start to see CO contact this week or next I'd imagine

Will be great to see that first August lodged visa be granted though, even if it isn't me

1 more week gone. 20th July have some granted now. August is close. I'm sure. Any others that applied in August that haven't added themselves to this thread, it'd be great to hear from you also.

One month down now since the visa was lodged. That month flew by. Visas from the 8th July are being granted now. Should be in our turn in about 3-4 weeks.

I don't think anyone truly knows. The more info you give them, the better. The more straightforward the application, the better. They still will do random checks on even a number of simple claims externally as a precautionary measure.

I'd say a stopover helps everyone relax before the second leg. Singapore Airlines are brilliant. I actively sought a flight back from them even though it cost a little extra. Caring cabin crew and a brilliant choice of entertainment. Flying is the safest form of transport. That is a fact. They have so much scrutiny and they are ridiculously robust with several layers of redundancy. The flight will be fine and you'll all have a great future to look forward to when you land. Three weeks have passed now. It's quite crazy. People from the 6th July are now getting Direct Grants so we should start to hear good news for August visas within the next 4-5 weeks hopefully

I lived in Perth. Cottesloe and Northbridge. Was there for 5 months. Loved it. I don't have a family but have many friends there.

Can't believe it's been 2 weeks already. I see people from June are getting their visa granted now. Should come round quickly. I hope to move in April or May next year to Perth.

No one will have a CO after 9 days. First week of many we'll have to wait. Crossing my fingers that the time will go swiftly for us all.
