  1. I need advice please. I am currently on 457 visa (expires 01-02-15), British citizen moved to Australia in October 2013. Now I am about to lodge my application for 457 renewal (hopefully will get bridging visa in the interim). I have been working for the same employer who lodged the nomination for 457 renewal that has been approved. When I applied for 457 from UK last year, I had to get the police clearance certificates from UK and India(I was born in India). My question is do I need to get the police clearance certificates again? If I have to then I had to get from Australia, UK and India (both for myself and wife). Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi all, I am currently working as a doctor in NSW on a 457 visa (expires 01-02-15). My employer has lodged a nomination for renewal of 457 which has been approved by the immigration yesterday (I was forwarded the email by my employer with nomination approval). The Immi letter says that the candidate (and family) can now lodge 457 visa "If not already on a 457 visa". I am not sure what that means? as said above, I hold a current 457 that is expiring soon and need a renewal. Is the application same even for the renewal? I am not sure whether I should attach all the documentation (like I did 18 months ago when I was in UK and applied for 457) - police certificates, medicals etc OR NOT? Is somebody in this situation before, please advise.
  3. my wife works as senior data analyst with the commonwealth bank (only started her job 10 wks ago). Her employer is happy to sponser for the permanent residency as long as we bear all the costs (I believe including their costs towards nomination). It is going to cost us about $11000 for 4 of us. Now I am wondering whether I need to ask my hospital to sponser for the PR or just go with my wife's employer (even though slightly expensive). My employer is saying they cannot promise whether nomination will be lodged before the end of my 457 visa which is 1st of Feb. They say they will sponser for renewal of 457 first and then for the PR once I have moretime in place. Feel like I am stuck !!
  4. Hi folks, As mentioned above my 457 expires on 01-02-14 (Im a doctor in NSW, employer sponsored me for 457 and I only got the visa for 18 months). Inview of christmas/new year coming up, I am bit mindful of the time. My employer (the lady who normally deals with visas for doctors) says that it is better if I apply for renewal of 457 (which according to her happens quicker, she herself is not sure why I was only given 457 for 18 months and not for usual 4 years). She says the nomination application for permanent residency needs to be signed by the chief executive of the hospital (who is taking 2/52 leave during christmas)-also the nomination application form has changed now and the employer herself is not sure how that form works out . I am bit anxious as 1. the renewal of 457 is going to cost me (according to 457 visa price calculator on the immi website) just over $5000 (for myself, wife and 2 kids) - is this becauseI am lodging the application in Australia (while I am still in Australia)?? 2. I still have got upto 6/52 prior to visa expiry. Can I not apply for permanent residency (lodge my application at the same time as my employer lodges the nomination application)?? - employer says that she doesnt want me lose money if she makes any mistake in the nomination application. In either case, I think I will get bridging visa that will allow me and my wife to continue working?? Guys please advise as I dont want to be in a state of ending to leave australia and come back again. My wife also now has permanent job with commonwealth bank and dont want to leave it either. Many thanks.
  5. Hi everyone, this is my first post. My situation - I moved from UK oct '13 on 457 visa (I am a doctor with 11 years of work experience) currently working in NSW. My 457 expires on 01-02-15. My employer is happy to sponser me for the permanent residency as they have offered me full time employment in the same hospital. I was told they need to lodge the nomination which is taking a long time for approval (I only have about 11 weeks to go on my 457). My wife - got a permanent post in commonwealth bank in sydney (1 month ago). What are my options?? 1. To renew the 457 visa - which employer need to sponser, then nomination etc. Will I be given a bridging visa if I dont get the renewal of 457 within the next 11 weeks. 2. Can I wait for my employer to lodge the nomination for PR and also submit my application for PR at the same time? Will I be given a bridging visa till my application has been processed? As you know, it involves cost issues (457 renewal and then again apply for PR within few months), needing to pay for kids education ($8500 each for 2 kids below 7). Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
