  1. Just to clarify what was put on earlier. My father-in-law is paddyman1 and he application date was 4/2/13 and acknowledgement date was 14/4/13. Acknowledgement date is not the lodgement date, it is the date of the letter that is sent from immigration acknowledging your application has been received. On the acknowledgement letter is also states the lodgement date.

At the beginning of August we received a letter requesting for the AOS, medical and police check. The police check had already been done. The medical was completed on 18/8/14 and as we had one AOS rejected as my husband could not be the AOS for his dad, as he is already the AOS for his mum and step father we had to do all the paperwork again. This finally went through on 02/09/14. So apart from the police check nothing else was done before it was requested by immigration. This did slow the process down. We were not given the acknowledgment letter from our first immigration agent and if we had been those things would have been done earlier.

The second VAC was requested 03/10/14 and was paid by my FIL to our immigration agents 'go Matilda' and it was paid by them on 13/10/14. My father-in-law had his visa granted yesterday 17/10/14

so from start to finish it has taken 20.5 months. Hopefully it does get quicker for those waiting.

My FIL has booked his flight today and we will have him here end of November.

Thanks for clarification Jen we are 2 months behind you so should get case officer soon

  2. Hi

I can confirm that Gainwave in still down (here in Perth 1645 hours)

If you want to go ahead with your medicals you can obtain your HAP Id by emailing Perth immi and quoting the reference HAPLTR in the subject text and quoting your file reference number which you would have been supplied with as part of your acknowledgement letter

    Barry

    Thanks Barry

    Will give that a try

  3. Hey again

If you are talking about gainwave.co.uk, it is working fine.

Recent post of Orphan (Saaustralia CPV thread):-

PROCESSING UPDATE as at 15 October 2014

Some REALLY good news for everyone in the Waiting Room.

Based on the latest information appearing in the progress tracker on the UK website www.gainway.co.uk/cpv/ it seems as if the visa processing delay is reducing....and significantly!

An applicant "paddyman1" has posted the following timeline:

    Application lodged: 14 April 2013

Case Office appointed: 03 October 2014

VAC Request date: 03 October 2014

    Days to CO: 537

This means that despite the official announcements being published by the Parent Visa (which still say March 2013 processing) some of the visa teams are already half way through April 2013!

What is also interesting here is that it has taken this fellow only 17 months & 3 weeks from visa lodgement to Case Officer, following which his second VAC payment was requested on the same day! It appears that he had all his paperwork done and ready by the time his CO was appointed, including the AOS side of things (which he completed on 01 September 2014), which is why his application was approved immediately.

And this is not an isolated case. Another timeline posted by "Day325" reflects the following

    Application Lodged: 25 March 2013

Case Officer appointed: 09 October 2014

VAC Request Date: 09 October 2014

VAC Payment date: 13 October 2014

    Days to CO: 563

And yet another - "Jitty" posted

    Application Lodged: 26 March 2013

Case Officer appointed: 14 October 2014

    Days to CO: 567

It may be that UK visa applications are dealt with faster than those from South Africa....but I don't believe so. What I think happens is that visa applications are allocated in batches to the various Case Officers and Teams, and the speed at which they process each batch of visas depends entirely on how complete their applications are. If there are documents missing, or they have to wait for PCCs or Medicals, then everything is delayed.

Another thing is that all three of these applicants mentioned above have gone through agents. That is not to say that Agents get preferential treatment, but rather that agents will ensure that all the documentation is completed correctly and submitted timeously. This supports my "be prepared" theory

If I am correct, it also means that the Parent Visa Centre reports the visa processing date according to the last application still outstanding, and not against those which have already been completed. This is to prevent a flood of enquiries from applicants who feel that their application has been overlooked.

There are lessons for all of us this. Firstly, don't wait for your CO to ask for medicals, PCC and AOS approval; have this done and all your documents in place before your review date. Secondly, don't read too much into the "official date" reported by the Parent Visa Centre, as this represents the worst case scenario. And thirdly, pray that the applicants in front of you have all their ducks in a row, so that you are not delayed unnecessarily!

    Rich

(sorry orphan, im just lazy haha)

Thanks for the update Rich, Have tried Gainwave again server seems to be down in UK, have tried ipad phone and laptop still unavailable over here.

it should be noted that lots of the entries have dates that are all over the place so in some cases may not be true reflection of where they are.

Processes in some cases are all carried out premature and out of sequence if dates are accurate.

We have applied via. an agent and at all stages been told not to do anything until case officer allocated, we also contacted the medical centre in Plymouth to get the medicals undertaken in advance and were told by them that the ref. comes via case officer and medicals cannot be undertaken without the designated ref. which we only get on case officer allocation, so not sure how some folks getting them done prior to case officer.

Hopefully someone may clarify further in the meen time, patiently waiting and our 18 months up end of month so anytime soon hopefully anytime soon

  4. Hi Emma

I was interested to read your post. We are parents (early 60's) applied for CPV 143 lodged late June 2014. our plan is to live on the Mornington Peninsular probably Mt Martha or Balnarring. Whereabouts on the Peninsular are you living? How easy do you think it will be for people of our age to integrate into life in Victoria? we are off to Melbourne in early Dec for a thorough 7 week reccie. My husband is plagued with fears that we will not fit in to life in Oz. any other parents got any experiences they can share? Majority of posts on here are about young people emigrating and missing the UK and their family. what about parents emigrating to be with their family and having their life turned upside down? Yes, we miss our daughter dreadfully, she's our only child and we can't wait to be with her, but we also have to have a life! Ugh, sorry about the moan must be all the waiting doing my head in.

    Julie

    Emma

my wife and I are currently waiting on our CPV 143

our overiding factor is to be with our daughter and new grandchild, that pull to us is stronger than any doubts we have.

The sponsership fee is also looked at as a savings plan as at this stage will not be intending on receiving any form of benefits going forward.

we too have been apprehensive but on evaluating the quality of life our family are currently experiencing we would not expect them to reconsider there choice to stay in oz.

We see it as easier for us to make the move and we will adapt to be close to family.

Fully understand how your husband feels, we understand we have to make the effort to fit in and will work to that end.

good luck and hope it works out for you both.

  5. Cass - it was lodged 4/2/13 and it was acknowledged 13/4/13. The immigration agent didn't pass on any information regarding the things we needed to do. So we waited until the letter came through requesting further information that we did the AOS and health check. If we had the acknowledgement letter it would have been quicker.

The form 80 - this was asked for on the acknowledgement letter and as our ex-agent didn't bother to pass it on, we have only just completed it

    Jen

    just checked form 80

    immi website states as follows:

If you are applying for a visa outside Australia, you do not have to provide this information with your application. You will be advised when it is required.

although I think we may have allready done this one.

  6. Thanks Jen , we are about 10 weeks behind you then, so we should be about right for case officer end nov.

hopefully the house sale goes through without any hick ups. Hoping for completion about mid to end nov. Buyers exchanged on theirs last week.

Just hoping that the sale doesn't fall out of bed this time. Right on our deadline but if goes ok timing should be perfect.

will look at form 80 and see if we can have done or can push through.

our agent advised nothing further to case officer allocation.

Medicals and crime checks once case officer notifies us ref. Numbers. Once allocated.

thanks for the heads up it gives a good idea of where they are at the moment.

  7. Hi Richard,

    No problem, copied from e-amail:

Processing times for Contributory Parent Visas - subclass 143 where applicant does not hold a subclass 173 visa.

Due to the high volume of applications received, it iscurrently taking approximately 18 months from receiving an application for a contributory parent visa application until the assessment stage. The current processing date is March 2013. When your application is allocated to a case officer for assessment, they will contact you or your authorised recipient to advise the next stage of processing. Please note that we generally receive between 250 and 300 applications a month so if you lodged an application in that month but have not yet heard from us be assured we will get to you. If your application was lodged after this date, assessing will not have commenced.

Prior to this stage the department will not be in contact and will not confirm receipt of individual documents.

Processing times for Contributory Parent (Temporary to Permanent) Visa where the applicant holds a subclass 173 visa

It iscurrently taking approximately 6 months from receiving an application for a contributory parent subclass 143 (temporary to permanent) visa until the assessment stage. The current processing date is 2 April 2014. When your application is allocated to a case officer for assessment, they will contact you or your authorised recipient to advise the next stage of processing. If your application was lodged after this date processing will not have commenced.

Prior to this stage the department will not be in contact and will not confirm receipt of individual documents.

    I hope this helps :-)

    Amanda

    Thanks Amanda

Nearly there 2 months approx to case officer for me then, can't wait to get the final part going then of we go.

  8. Hi there, am I right in thinking that if you're in the UK, you can go to London and pay it at the High Commission? I had enough trouble paying the first VAC by credit card so it's not going to be an option for the 2nd one!

    regards

    maisiedaisy

Yes Maisey we are in Dorset, what I was trying to find out is wether it is better to transfer funds to Oz now the exchange rate is improving and paying in $ over there rather £ over here.

I read somewhere on the immi website on the Q&A section an explanation of how charges/fees are calculated, when paying to the embassy in the UK a fixed rate is used for VAC fees and its reviewed and the rate fixed every 6 months.

if this is the case rate fixing may be at start of new UK tax year then reviewed 6months later.

I assume this will be based on an average conservative currency conversion rate to allow for currency market fluctuations, the fixed rate will probably be lower than what can be achieved transfering funds to OZ on a strong pound.

With a rising pound and such a large fee, you may score a tidy sum by transfering funds into Oz and paying over there in $ capitalising on the exchange rate.

All speculative and down to timing but could help reducing the outlay of fees.

Perhaps someone can advise if they have tried this and how it worked out

  9. Sympathy to those sweating on a house sale to cover the second 143 contribution...What happens if you can't pay at the time?? Do you have to apply again??...and how practical is a bridging loan until the house is sold?

For us it will mean we have to withdraw application before 2 nd vac requested, reapply next year and start whole process again.

  10. 2nd and final vac payment on 143.

our application is being handled by australian agent, on making main payment can anyone advise most cost effective /simplest payment route to immi

( in GBP or AUD ? - to agent in Oz via. Transfer co. For them to pay ? - Direct to Oz gov in UK etc. ? Direct to immi in Oz etc..).

    Thanks in advance

  11. Pressures of selling UK property

When to market that's the big question, we placed our property on market at time of application and it has taken 18 months to sell, we are right on the wire with case officer expected mid November. Finally .found a 2nd buyer after 1st attempt fell apart after 14 weeks.

new buyer found and hopefully will make to completion this time, fingers crossed.

constantly hear from government how housing market picking up and house prices increasing, not the case in the West Country, house prices now lower than 8 years ago and average time to sell 9 - 12 months.

Upbeat politics in my view only relates to London and the South East.

only way to force quick sale once clock has run down is to slash price and give away and evaluate what is your driving force, money or quality of life.

What have you experienced with the visa being as expensive as it is.

I would expect in most cases selling property Is essential to realise fees as is the case for us, this can become tricky and progressively stressful. Whilst realising when starting out it is made clear you should have funds available I am sure we are not alone in not having that kind of money just sitting in the bank.

  12. AOS- Assurance of support

    Hey guys,

Can anyone here pls help me out with the Aos issue? :-

    1.When can i apply it?

    2.What is the process?

3.How long it is gonna take to get it done ?

    For your info:-

    lodgement date- march,2013

    visa- CPV143

p.s- im obsessed with this forum and i love how people are helping each other with their journey.Waiting can get devastating sometimes and when that happens, we come here to check how others are doing and all we can do is try to make each other positve and motivate lol.Im gonna keep u guys updated about my cpv stuff.

thank you and good luck with your applications guys.

    richard

    Richard

my understanding is once case officer is allocated we will be issued with Ref. Codes for the medical and criminal check, we will be given 28 days to provide that info. Once that is done case officer replies within 28 days and then requests AOS which again we have to get that done via sponsor within 28 days. Following that 2nd payment requested once granting approved.

this is rough max. Guidelines given to us by agent, however I have seen posts where people have managed to speed up the process and from case offer to visa has only taken 5 weeks.

the extended dates were given by agent when we were sweating over if house would be sold in time for case officer as maximum we could slow process by from case officer to having to pay 2nd and final fee.

thats my understanding, I'm sure others will offer other variations if experienced.

    Roger

  13. hey cass

Perth immi are currently processing march 2013 applications. It is currently taking 2 months to process 1 month applications, so i guess your case officer will be allocated around feb 2015. A friend of mine applied on 22 feb,2013 and his visa is granted :D

thanks Richard, agent told us 12-15 months to case officers on application, process slowed right down then, must be due to changes.

have seen some posts suggesting 18 months from application to case officer, which gives me about mid Nov. Looks like may be slipping further.

Hopefully if someone gets granted visa in near future or has just been granted perhaps they will advise there dates, that would help.

if it's taking 2 months to process 1 month they may not complete the years allocation by year end. That doesn't look good for next years applicants.

    good luck all with applications

    Roger
