  1. Hi Steve

Cassie coped really well we sent her out ahead of us flighing on the 9th dec. Took her to airport at 1700hrs. To cargo at Quantas who Andy at Transfuranimals.com uses, paperworks were a bit tricky but With Andys carefull guidance all was clear and the vet was also very careful to ensure everthing was correct. Immigration Vet checked her in on arrival and inspected all documentation. it was hard walking away from her, and leaving her with strangers.

The transport crate was delivered to our house 3weeks in advance of her leaving, we had her using it as a bed at night to get her used to being in the crate. We also had the crate made maximum size we were allowed for her size for which we paid, I am sure she appreciated the extra room.

Having undertaken the pet transfur I am pleased we did not try and deal with this ourselves and took the agent route and it was money well spent, if anything is incorrect quaranteen will send them straight back and the whole 6month process starts again. Paperworks and timelines for Vets preperation are cast in stone and quaranteen allows no errors on paperworks, expecting every single page of all paperworks to be fully stamped and correct.

We ensured her fur was clipped short as climate heat is quite a switch, we also sent additional bedding and toys and meds.strapped to the container with instructions for quaranteen which were all used as provided.

Eastern creek notified us by email all was well and the wait started.

Our daughter collected Cassie on the 21st and she settled in straight away, We were greeted by a happy dog and in the end a lot of the stress and worry over that part of the process was our own feelings and compounded but our preperation for our migration.

Having migrated at this time of year Aclimatisation was probably as worse as it gets for the pets, She has dealt with tha well herself, her normal behavior has been adjusted to cope, having adjusted her down time patterns and searched out the coolest spots to rest at the hotest times of the days.

On our arrival we were greeted by a dog that was really pleased to be reunited with us and all is well.

Hope these few words are helpfull for others

Signing off for the moment and now living the dream

    Cass

  2. Slight feeling of panic today, as the 2nd VAC has been requested. My daughter will be paying it for us (our money though haha) in Perth. Reducing our stuff outstanding on eBay!! Luckily we are already in a rental, having sold our house in September, so no concern there.

    Congratulations Carob

Wont be long now they will approve straight away, our agent was on holiday so our approval delayed slightly . The email from immi was sent as soon as they got the Aus bank cheque. Good as cash.

    Any day now.

We landed in Sydney at 20:50 last night 13th oz time so not slept in 36 hours. what the hell, who needs sleep allready bought the paddle board and been out on Terrigal lagon, fortunately there was no Aussies watching when the Pommie fell in the drink within the 1st 30 seconds.

Fitting with Australian lifestyle in the right order , Watersports 1st priority, Job hunting 2nd. House 3rd

Its hot here gone from 10c Uk to 38c in Erina, walked out of the nice cool shopping centre into the sun and it felt Id been flashed with a blow lamp. Cant beat it

The dreams started and feeling great.

  3. Thanks all for your kind words and support over the last year.

flight booked and of to OZ on monday with Cathay Pacific.

just a tip on flights dont book with an internet comparison site, cant trust what they tell you to score the sale, they booked us quoting a baggage allowance and when we checked with the airline they had mis-sold, we would have got greeted at the airport with an extra £600 excess baggage charges , you only find the truth once you get the tickets. Takes the them 30 seconds to take your money then 3 days to refund because of mis selling.

if you contact airlines direct they sell a discounted migrant ticket with a full 40 k each baggage allowance plus cabin carry on and it was cheaper than any deal we could find on the internet.

From a purely personal perspective, when we were offerred the oppourtunity there was absolutly no doubt in our mind and during the whole process that decision has never been questioned once the decision was made.

We feel its right for us and if we had any doubts the long process would never reach conclusion.

Big decision to make and you need to be sure its right as its a very stressfull process to complete.

  5. Oh, well done Cass, that was quick for the visa grant. At least you knew your checks etc has been received when they asked for the 2nd VAC. We sent the final papers that they asked for yesterday, but are very nervous as to whether they have gone through. Looking at your experience with the 2nd VAC request, it looks as if we won't run over their 28 days.

All the very best wishes for your new adventure.

just to clarify ref. The 2nd vac if it helps anyone, we transferred the funds over to our AOS sponsor so the cash were in oz in advance of request, a bank draft was drawn from an oz bank which appears to have been as good as a cash payment judging by the speed of process.

they stated on the request if you pay via international bank cheque expect it to take 28 days to clear the cheque.

this also avoided the credit card charges and we were able to get a pretty good exchange rate.

we got $1.855 to GBP which was near the recent highs. On the 2nd vac fee each $0.01 fluctuation was making a difference of $1000.00

Would have loved to get the recent $1.90 rate wasnt expecting that rate until later this year, thats the curecncy markets for you.

  6. There are a series of hoops they need to satisfy. Including a balance of family test - if you have brothers / sisters not in Australia. Then it is expensive - about $123k for two parents. They will also need to pass medicals.

just to confirm our 143 charges

2 parents on a joint application = $14000.00 aud AOS and $84440.00 aud 2nd vac following the initial 1st vac application charges $2060.00 aud

    total $100500.00

so in total approx £55000.00 GBP using the approx exchange rates at time of each part of money transfur

  7. Thanks for your kind words, hope the timelines give all a good idea of how immi is progressing at the moment, all has gone exactly as our agent advised in the 1st place with the exception of the initial timeline being estimated at 12-15 months to case officer.

as we all know the extended time to 18months is down to the government changes and excessive additional numbers jumping over to 143.

in conclusion we are more than happy with the progress and looking forward to the processess final conclusion

good luck all and a happy and prosperous new year to all.

  8. All

Current acurate timelines can be estimated from our dates below, no actions were taken ahead of case officer allocation as per. Our migration agents instructions.

Upon appointment of case officer police, medicals, and aos were requested.

Our dates reflect the normal processing times at the current level of applications.

  10. Hello Cass, interesting that you say there seems plenty of flight availability, that should be good for you. Who are you looking to fly with?

We are just a couple of months behind you, so being optimistic (haha) I have it in my head that our CO just might 'land' on the 5th Jan. No reason for thinking of this date, just hope I haven't put a jinx on things!! Thank goodness we have already sold our house, so only have to consider moving out of our rental.

    All the best, Carob

    Hi Carob

Think date wise you may be about right, we usually fly with Singapore Airlines really good and excellent service nothing is to much trouble.

if we cant get a flight with Singapore will try Quantas.

We are heading to Sydney then up to Terrigal Central coast, where are you off to

    Cassie

  11. Ooh lucky you Cass, what a good start for the New Year. How are you doing finding a flight at short notice? All the best wishes.

    Many thanks Carob

Have not booked a flight yet until we get full grant, hopefully by new year then hoping to go about 11th jan if we get granted and are able to find suitable flight, seems plenty of availability at the moment

fingers crossed, how you getting on with your process exciting time.

    Cass

  12. Hi everyone,

Here's a quick update on my parents visa application. I found it extremely useful that the readers here post their application progress and dates which allow us to anticipate pretty closely when it is our turn.

    PCV class 143

    submitted 07/05/2013

AOS and health check were done in late 2013

request of remaining documents via emails 21/11/2014

we were away so could only emailed through our papers on Sunday night 07/12/2014

within 3 days we got a direct phone call from immi advising us that they'd send through the request for second instalment.

The officer on the phone was very nice, asking if we need extension (18/03/2015) to organise our home overseas.

she said it would take about 1-2 days to issue visa once the cheque is received.

now I just need to sort out the cheque, hopefully my parents can be in Adelaide for the new year!

    Cheers

    123smilezzz

    Congratulations

We are also All done apart from the 2nd vac payment which they should be requesting any time now . Cash allready in oz to be paid.

hoping to be on the way 2nd week Jan.

last xmas is UK coming up.

  13. We have also discovered that there are other subtle ways in which we are penalised financially for not being able to draw an Oz state pension at the moment. There are various household and medical rebates which are only available to those drawing an Oz state pension, although this does depend on the state. In addition we have discovered that Seniors drawing an Oz state pension are entitled to a larger tax allowance, which of course we currently are not. An expensive business this parent visa lark!

    Hi Bridgeman

this was my reference point http://www.britishpensions.org.au/pension-guidelines.htm

    hope that helps

  14. Hi Cass

Interesting thought about viewing the 2nd VAC as future Oz Aged Pension. does anyone understand the rules and regs for qualifying for the OZ Aged pension pension? I know you have to wait ten years and that it is income and asset tested.

having trawled my way through the info on the Human Resources site I've become somewhat confused.

I am right in thinking that they exclude your principle residence from the asset calculation but include any rental property/holiday home that you might have. with regards to income do they then calculate any UK pensions, Ozzie super, rental income etc and if that comes to less that 284 AUD per fortnight you get the full pension if it is more than 284AUD then you get 50c for each dollar over the 284 - Is there a cut off point where you don't qualify at all?

    Julie

    Hi Julie

My understanding is you qualify for full Oz pension after 10 years residency on a 143 visa.

i have 10 years of working age left so health permiting should be ok.

there are levels of means testing and tax liabilities based on your own personal assetts and other private pension funds, you would need to do some research on the rules and limitations

would check out the Oz gov. Website.

one of the financial members may comment further for you.

i would repost your queries over on the financial posting threads and you may get the answers you need

  15. Hi , need some help! So we are trying to get parents out. But I'm confused about the payments of the visa. The second instalment for CPV would be like $43.600 per person! So this second instalment , is that just a huge lump sum you pay the government ?? Or does it go towards you living over there??? How does it work?? Any help would be appreciated!!

    Hi Whites

    Vava, is correct.

best way to view the fee is as a pension fund, you will not get a better return on your money than qualifiying for the oz pension for your cash after 10years work, 30years N.I. Contributions to qualify for UK pension

if you pay the same sum into a private pension you may 6% p.a. If your lucky.

money wisely invested in my view.

  16. Hi Cass

Many congratulations, I hope the process goes well and I look forward to your updates.

    Best wishes

    Steve

No problem Steve, I telephoned Nuffield in Plymouth to book the medicals just missed the last appointment for next Thursday, booked our medicals for 4th dec. price is £276.00 each this includes all tests, they carry out a medical, chest ex ray and HIV blood test.

They undertake the medicals for oz on a Thursday so pretty good lead time 1-2 weeks notice.

The lady advised the results come back in 5 days and after checking they upload details via Internet straight to immi in oz under your HAP ref. She advised they will be uploaded about 7days after medical.

While we are getting the medicals and criminal check done, our daughter is doing the Aos in oz so hopefully all conditions should be met by about mid dec.

Others have posted Visa grant then takes about 2 weeks, we are hoping for a visa then flight just after the new year if all goes well.

At same time we are going through our pet dog export, some tricky timelines on that one.

Pet export process started about 9 months ago with rabies vacination and tests then some pretty critical vets processes 45-30 days prior to export.

Hope that clarifies process we are going through, our is a joint 143 offshore CPV myself and my good lady plus our pooch.

  17. Congratulations Richard, got me excited also we are 17 days after you, lodged on 29th.

    The long waits nearly over.

Case officer now allocated 517 days from acknowledgement, HAP no,s just issued on case officer allocation.

Shows they are running at (533days) -18months from lodgement to appointing case officer.

Sent off police check, booking medicals today and will advise of lead time for medicals later to keep everyone updated on expected timelines.

Police check takes about 10 days on standard process or you can express to 2 day turnaround for an additional fee.

we are now expecting to be heading out just after new year, fingers crossed for no last minute issues

    Suddenly became very real.

  18. Hello

Firstly you should contact your insurance company directly and explain the situation to them and let them confirm whether you are covered or not.

It is possible you are not but there are also cases whereby the cover is still ok to be maintained and the insurance would hold. If it is allowed to be continued ensure you get it from them in writing if not then unfortunately that is how the land lies.

If it is the case you are not covered then regards your Financial Advisor my opinion is that unless he knew at the time of providing advice in relation to the cover when it was initiated your intention was to move overseas there really is not too much that he is at blame for or unless you have had a review of the insurance with him since and at that time he knew your intention was to move overseas and his recommendation was for you to maintain the cover you then perhaps have a case but otherwise I do not think you would have.

That said he should of perhaps mentioned to you at the point in time you mention he knew you were moving to check that the insurance would still be ok to cover you if you moved overseas however this would depend on the capacity he spoke to you in when you had the conversation.

    Regards

    Andy

    Andy

i have existing life insurance in UK, we are emigrating shortly.

Will check if existing can be transferred, but would it be better and possibly cheaper taking comparable policy out in OZ

My intention was to keep a sum in UK bank account and just carry on paying via direct debit.
