  1. I now believe they are going for the visa 804. MIL phoned the other day and asked my hubby to send his certified documents ASAP as otherwise it would cost her a lot of money. This is what she is being told by sister in law as aged MIL does not have a clue. We have sent docs off to her. We believe they are going for this visa, as not only is it cheaper but it takes years to process and to be frank she does not have that many years left. There is the worry regarding medical but SIL has forgotten about the 3 stepchildren in UK. can anyone tell me if the balance of family rule should include adult stepchildren. MIL remarried after death of her first husband, in 1981 and her 2nd husband already had 3 children - think the youngest was 17 or 18 at that time, although they all lived independently. 2nd husband only lasted a few years and he is deceased. Do his adult children count as MIL's stepchildren. we did object to the sole Lasting power of attorney but caused so much concern and upset with MIL we decided to move on and cancel the objection. We are not concerned about her money, but only that she remains happy, at the moment at least in Australia. She also needs cataract op which she was due to have free in the UK, although they were not quite ready to be done. She may have to have these done privately in Oz, which will take up some of her rapidly depleting capital. We are just so worried if she is sent home, she will have nowhere of her own to come back to, although we would sort something out. This has all been so speedy and unnecessary for her well being at her advanced age. Thanks again for help given so far.
  2. Thanks for this. However we have been told very little. House was sold almost immediately - it was a beautiful bungalow. Husband's sister came to UK middle of June 2014 for a holiday and house was on market, without our knowledge on 14th July just after she went back to Oz. House sold to cash buyer immediately and SIL and BIL came over to UK while we were in Spain on holiday and packed up the few possessions and whisked mum off to Oz on 19th Sept. We have been trying to get some answers for a few weeks. All we have been told by my husband's sister is that mother in law got in on a temporary visa - might have been told to lie about intention to stay. We know mother wanted to go and would not listen to anything negative or any facts, ie pension will drop by two thirds, we have checked, will she pass medical - she takes a host of tablets, is confused, has cataracts, heart condition, osteoporosis, walking difficulties and can't remember what happened yesterday! Money is the root of this. SIL has 3bedroom bungalow she owns, which was purchased as stop gap when they first moved over. We believe mum will be moved into this when tenants move out and SIL will use cash from house APPROX 250k to rent her the house or sell this to her under the radar, but actually still keep house in their names and to pay for visa. It is all so wrong but nothing we can do except speak to mum on phone via SIL if we can. We can see it all going pear shaped. Mum has not had her medical there. If she does not pass she will be up the creek and we will need to pick up the pieces.
  3. Thanks for that. Really mystified why my SIL needs my husband's passport details, Birth Certificate and other documents when we live in UK and have had no involvement or agreement to the move. MIL has very limited understanding of implications of the move
  4. Hi, hope someone can help. My mother in law at 87 years of age and bad health has been taken to Australia by my sister in law. SIL back in UK for 4 weeks, having not returned for 8 years from Oz. Mother in laws house in the UK was sold v quickly behind my husband's back and her goods shipped out. Sister in law said she had sole power of attorney, although not the case as not registered. Mother in law has been told she can buy bungalow there. We understand she has a temp visa and sister in law as a resident now is applying for permanent visa. After all the deceit, she is now asking my husband for his passport details, birth certificate and various other documents from him, for the application. Can anyone tell me what are the implications of this. My husband is only son and living in UK. His sister lives around Perth and is resident of Australia. MIL has only 2children, my husband and his sister. He is totally at a loss and very concerned about all of this. many thanks and hope someone can help
