  1. Yes, I was born 4 years too early... The visa application process is a waiting game. The EA assessment alone will take 13 weeks Where are you now in the visa application process?
  2. Hi hasanjavied1, lebourvellec & wrussell Thanks for all the help! Much appreciated! I searched high and low and I think I finally found it. It is in the EA MSA booklet, Section D. "It should be noted that – from 1 July 2011 – the standard assessment WILL INCLUDE an opinion on the comparable relevant Australian level qualification to the client’s oversea qualification used in support of the assessed outcome." I guessed that corresponds to what lebourvellec has mentioned. If the assessment result states that your qualification is equivalent to an Australian degree, then you are able to claim the 15 points. Special thanks to lebourvellec! Keeping my fingers crossed for this The Dark Knight
  3. Hi everyone I just submitted my Engineers Australia's Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) two weeks ago. Keeping my fingers crossed so that I got a favourable assessment I am in the midst of preparing for the EOI submission once I got a positive skills assessment. I am a little confused about the number of points I can claimed for educational qualifications. I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from a public university in Malaysia in 2005. Malaysia only attained full membership of the Washington Accord in 2009. Any qualification before 2009 is not recognized by Engineers Australia and thus I have to go down the CDR route. The section on points of educational qualifications in the Visa 189 booklet states that I will get 15 points for "bachelor qualification, awarded by an overseas educational institution of a recognised standard". Question is how do I know whether my qualification is awarded by an "overseas educational institution of a recognised standard?" Is there a list maintained some where for all the "overseas educational institution of a recognised standard?" I am a little worried about this due to the stern sounding statement in the SkillSelect booklet: "If you receive an invitation to apply, and your score under the points test is less than claimed in your eOI, your visa may be refused even if you are able to pass the points test or meet other threshold criteria." I am a little apprehensive of claiming 15 points for educational qualifications as I fear that it would jeopardize my EOI. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! The Dark Knight
