  1. Nemesis are you an Migration agent and what's your MARN number because the person who advised us has one. We were advised last year at our first meeting with our agent that we could get married here or over there so we choose over there for personal reasons then apply onshore for a Partner/Spouse Visa on return to Australia after gaining a bridging visa and before her 12month VISITOR VISA expires. So I'm not sure if it's playing within the rules or as had been said before being called a LIER or the agent is shonky or even the rules have changed since you and others went through the process but that's what I thought these so called forums where all about to try and find out stuff and I have for sure found out a lot.
  2. Sorry for the confusion and not explaining tings as good as I should have but I am an Australian and I will be sponsoring my partner we will be applying onshore for the Permanent Partner Visa once she arrives here but first we need to apply for a bridging visa asap on her arrival here. Gee ya didn't think that I would be that I would be naive enough to post on this site, which is most properly visited regularly by the Department, a request for some shonky advice did ya LOL:wink:. Going the on the advice that I have received the only way my wife can get here is via a visitors visa, plenty of visitors come in on a one way ticket and suck-it-and-see so long as you leave before yours visa's times up or you put into place other arrangements. But there was some confusion between us and the agent on the ticket and departure date issue but that's sorted now. So thanks for your views have a nice day:cool:
  3. Quinkla, Cheers buddy and thanks for your swift and blunt reply but that's the stuff we have been told an when this is your first time at dealing with this level of bureaucracy and given the inquest that I got put through by the pommy custom officer the last time I went over there I just want to CYA. And going by your signature looks like you have been through the same experience with a lot of experience to offer.
  4. I plan to marry my partner in North Wales at the end of this September, the arrangements over there are in place regarding notice of intent to marry and registrar office booked now just waiting for my Special Marriage Visa from UKVisa to be granted. We understand when Heather immigrates out to Australia after the wedding on a 3 month holiday visa she then has to apply for a Temporary Spouse/Bridging visa then after the 2 year period she can apply for the PRV. What the main questions are is we have had conflicting information on the 3 month holiday visa. That is this information that we have received is that Heather has to purchase a return ticket showing a return flight date upon her arrival into Australia, or can Heather just buy a one way ticket out of the UK given she wont be returning. Also we have concerns with regards to what we need to include on the Custom Entry card when she arrives in Australia because on the card it requests a return date. Steve
  5. G'day All, Just want to give any Australian who's applying for a special marriage/partnership visa through the Visa4UK web site to marry your English partner in England. I started the process on the 30/1/15 and submitted the application via their web site on the 13/2/15 then went to make my booking on their site for an appointment at Perth office for somewhere in May, waiting for an important document to arrive, only to find available bookings only went up to the 2/4/15. So waited till the 1/3/15 thinking that more dates will be available at the start of a new month, but alas that was not to be. I then emailed the British Immigration department only to be told that more dates should be available as it gets towards April. Tried again but still no more dates after the 1 of April so this time I rang the British Immigration Department, which cost £1.35 per min, only to be told that they only issue 30 days of appointments after the date you submit your application on their web site, so as to keep the data as current as possible. So now because I submitted my application and I need to have the my appointment in May I have to resubmit my whole application again and because I didn't make an appointment and pay for it in original application I can't get all my data back and they keep it. So be warned DON'T SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION 30 DAYS BEFORE YOU NEED IT if you need an appointment at a later date. This information is nowhere to be found on their web site even in the FAQ's section.
  6. Cheers buddy, I have to apply for a Special Visitor Marriage visa through Visas4UK via the web only and make an appointment over here in Perth to get photos and fingerprints done. During the process I have been informed by the UK Department of Immigration to request a multi visit visa. Gee they don't like us colonist, hell they sent us out here for trying to feed our families a couple of hundred years ago, going over there and meeting the loves of our live and then trying to bring them back to gods own country the hoops and changes of laws is that they throw in your face is unbelievable but hey hoo we are working through it. We will be married on the 5/9/15 in Pwllheli in North Wales and then leaving on the 29/9/15 after a looksy at the Hebrides Island via sea kayaks Thanks
  7. G'day all, I would like some assistance on how many times I can travel between the UK and Australia once my UK Marriage Visitor Visa has been activated on my first visit and up till it expires. The reason I need to know this is just recently the laws have changed from 14 days after the Notice of Intent period till the time you could get married to now it's 28 days before you can marry, so including the 9 days for the Notice of Intent to run it's course till the time you can get married it is now 37 days and we cant do that due to job and holiday restraints. So it's going to mean 2 trips, one trip to apply for the Notice of Intent then travel back to Australia then the next trip over after the qualifying period, and when time allows but before the 6 months time limit is up, to get married then honeymoon and then pack up and fly home. Cheers Steve n Heather
  8. Hey cheers for the replies folks, Xenon 4017, Sorry for my absent mindness and missing out few details, so here me go, not married and claiming long distance de-facto relationship, IoM June 2014. Wrussell, Will look into your suggestion, but my understanding is that you have to be 45 and under and sponsored by an employer for a 457. We have had a meeting here with the principle of the collage about options because my partner would like some form of casual employment but not permanent. Thanks
  9. G'day all, Steve here from Merredin in WA and I'm chasing some help with unravelling this head @*&^ that is called Immigration and visa's so that I can to get my lil lady over from North East Wales permanently. Now I know that some will say that I should try and search this site but this just seems to be mudding the waters for my grey matter even more and I think our situation is a bit different than the high majority of cases that I have read, plus I'm a lazy Ozzie so-n-so who has no training in the legal profession, gee I'm only a train driver so cut me some slack. Here is the story, we have been in a partnership since the Isle of Man and after a break apart of only 3 weeks my partner came over for a 5 week holiday to explore this incredible place and has only just returned back to Wales then she be returning for another 3 week break this October then I will be going over there for 3 weeks a week before Christmas with bathers and beach towel in hand, Qantas are liking us bugga. Then some time very early in 2015 my partner hopes to have sold up her art gallery and finish up with her teaching positions in preparation to make the move, she has 2 children with one at uni and is 19 years old the other one has just started 6th grade and is 16 years old but lives with his natural father, we are not sure if either of them will come over. Here's my findings. My partner is a art teacher with a back ground in University lecturing but is past the age limit for a 457 visa. Her current visa is only a 3 month visa with the only conditions being 8108 (not to work) and 8201 (max 3 month study) and no limits on the amount of times she can come n go. Her visa expires on the 20/5/2016 but must not arrive any later than the 13/7/2015, work that out. On arrival she wont need to work but will be able to concentrate on her art. We have started a joint bank account together and her name is, and will be on more soon, various bills. Now here comes the questions an please forgive me but I think more will follow after and if I get some replies. Can and should we try to upgrade the visa before the expiry date ? Where should we try and do that, on shore or off shore ? How do you get to travel in and out as may time you want on a 12 month visa ? To get the time together in a de-Facto relationship up to qualify for a partner visa we hope to use the 12 month visa to stay here then apply for a partner visa, will this help or is there a better way to skin this cat ? Am I better off being a sponsor and why is there a huge cost involved ? As you can see by my questions that are all over the place and that I'm very confused and don't have a good handle on this and as said before there will be more to follow. Thanx Steve
