  1. It seems as if different councils have different processes for ceremony our local council organised a private ceremony within about two weeks. Probably because it's a regional council. Quite informal in the council offices, with the major saying our pledge in front of the queen, all done in about 10 minutes.

But soo pleased the process is over now. Good luck everyone.

Afterwards our council asked of we wouldn't mind being interviewed, see it below:

  2. 1) If it is just a hypothetical for now and you haven't actually started making plans or booked anything there is no need to mention it. You have to be present in Australia for approval to be granted.

    2) From my layperson understanding super does not constitute a substantial link to Australia. But i may be wrong.

My advice would be wait until you have citizenship then look to move - at least then you have your citizenship. The applications at the moment are being processed quite quickly.

all we have is bank statements showing salary being credited from the employer

This is what you need - HR may not have salary records but they should be able to give you a statement of employment or if they can't an ex manager - saying something like.

person x worked here from xxx-xxx and their salary was xxxx

That with the bank statement should work.

Want to preface this with the fact that we have been *incredibly* lucky on our visa/migration journey in regards to turnaround times. I definitely did not expect this timeline or take this for granted.

But, this morning my citizenship flipped over to Approved too, after the OH's has end of last week. We're on the last straight!

    Congratulations - its a great feeling 🙂

citizenship Test invitation date: Oct  21 2019

    Test Date : 21 Feb 2020

Changed Test Date: 23 OCT 2019

Test passed but still shows in immi account RECEIVED

    anyone knows why ?

    thanks

    Ceremony Date: waiting

It will say received until you are approved. So nothing to worry about 🙂

  10. No not at all, it will just be more difficult to get a passport while in the UK i.e. will involve visiting embassy's etc.

The process to renew a passport is a lot easier than the application for a new one.

It also protects them from any changes in legislation in the future with regards to criteria for citizenship/passports.

  11. You will save your self stress and worry by getting the passports. It makes life easier, these things are always significantly harder to resolve out of the country.

The main issue you will have is when you try to return to Australia the Non aus passport won't have a valid visa attached so the airline may not let you board and/or you will have a long anxious wait while they confirm your citizenship.

  13. Really it comes down to is it worth the risk of not declaring. You declare, it's a minor offence and unlikely to affect your application, you don't declare they find out worse case, they assume you deliberately hid the information (and you've ticked a declaration) you don't get your visa.

It's ultimately your decision, but make it being aware of the potential consequences.

    Dear All,

Can anyone guide me where exactly to find the list of documents to be ready with for the citizenship application. The link below just mentions to be ready with documents but doesn't mention which documents exactly. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/become-a-citizen/permanent-resident#HowTo

I will be eligible to apply in Nov 2019. Appreciate your help in advance.

    Thanks!

If you click on the show steps on the right then next to each document expand it does stipulate which specific documents.

If those buttons are not working, try a different browser or device.

Also after you've applied, your immi account will indicate which documents you need to upload.

Thanks - wonder why they don't just stick to email! Is there any chance that you have a list of documents that are required for the application, along with any tips? I'm currently on PR 186 visa (just a single applicant)... I hear you have to state every holiday you've been on since the age of 18 which is slightly daunting.

You can find a list here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/become-a-citizen/permanent-resident#HowTo

If you click on show steps it outlines the documents, however you may not need them all, once you submit you are then able to upload documents and they highlight which documents they want based on your answers in the application.

In regards to holidays - just try to be as accurate as you can. If you filled a form 80 for your PR dig that out as you will have answered a similar question.

Hi - any idea if there is any post involved in the citizenship process (from application through to ceremony) - just wondering as i think i'll be moving shortly after submitting my application and don't really want it to be delayed if post goes to my old address? Thanks!!

Yes once your application is approved you get an official letter outlining the approval and giving information regarding your ceremony.

However you can update your address via immi account.

    I’M APPROVED! emoji16.pngemoji16.pngemoji16.png

    Applied online: 22/03/2019
    Test invite: 24/06/2019
Test appointment date: 13/09/2019 (for both wife and I at same time as I linked the applications)
Test taken: 13/09/2019 @ 3.30pm in Melbourne CBD.
Both passed 100%. I went first, wife went about 10 mins after.

Wife and Daughter approved immediately: 13/09/2019

    Me approved: 30/09/2019

After all the crap we went through with my initial 457 and then PR with the government changing the goal posts for eligibility, age etc, to say I’m ecstatic would be an understatement!! emoji485.pngemoji485.pngemoji485.png

Congratulations - I am in a similar situation, my wife was approved last week (3 weeks after test), but I am still waiting.

I think it just confirms there is no formula to when they process applications, I think it all depends where you are in the case managers 'pile'.

Thankfully, we have no pressing need to get citizenship quickly so taking the view of it'll come through when it comes through.

    Congratulations again 🙂

  18. It would be safer to go for November, as all your evidence needs to be in date and valid as per the date of invite, should he get the results post that it will not be valid evidence and the case manager will pick up on it.
