  1. So happy and relieved to advise you that at the age of 71 and 3 years after submitting onshore my application for a Temporary Partner Visa I have been granted my Permanent Partner Visa.

It would have been more difficult applying online without an agent if it was not for the help and assistance I received from the knowledgable, friendly folk on this forum.

    Thank you all so much.

Writing to HMRC in an effort to clarify the tax position in Australia is unlikely to elicit meaningful advice on which you can rely - in my experience.

    Best regards.

Thanks Alan. Ramot posted that they were temporary residents and because like me their income comes from the UK they pay tax there. This is what I was told by some "expert" so I delayed telling HMRC that I was here until I get hopefully my Permanant Partner Visa. When I found out that can be another 22 months I decided to act. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!! I only have a State Pension and a small private pension from the UK no other worldwide income.

  3. Thanks all. Some conflicting advice. I have applied to the Australian Tax office for a TFN number in case I get a part time job here. I will write to HMRC and ask them what I should do as my income is from the UK. I have received my tax calculation for 2016/2017 from HMRC BTW.

  4. I am currently waiting for a decision on my 801 Partner Visa which has an estimated processing time of 16 - 22 months.

I have been living here since July 2015 with my Australian wife on a temporary partner visa. I applied for my partner visa in September this year.

Because I am not a permanent resident here I have kept an address in the UK (My sons) and this is the address HMRC has for me.

Can I apply to be taxed in Australia even though I am not officially a resident yet? I am retired on a UK pension.

This has raised it's head because Lloyds Bank in the UK have sent a form for me to fill in asking for my country of residence for tax purposes due to a change in international tax legislation.

Because when I do a transaction with my UK bank account they have to ring my mobile which is Australian they think I am resident for tax purposes in Australia.

Can anyone advise me what to do before this gets messy?

    TIA

  5. Done all that thanks.

Now I have nearly completed the online form, been saving it as I go along BUT when I logged out and back in I cannot find any way to get back to finish my online form plus they have given me a new TRN number!!

I have clicked on the Stage 2 section displayed but I cannot find the saved application form again.

This is harder than the original application!

  6. Thanks for that. So I click on New Application, click on Family Visa, select Partner Visa Stage 2 and proceed.

Do I submit the same script for how we support each other etc as I did in the Temp Visa application or should I rewrite it fresh?

  7. "Maintaining a valid visa You have been granted a temporary visa and will become eligible for consideration for the grant of a permanent visa. You do not need to make a further application for the permanent visa. Generally, applicants become eligible two years after the date of the lodgement of the combined application. Shortly before that date, the Department will write to you and invite to provide further information. There are no travel restrictions associated with your temporary visa. If you wish to travel outside Australia pending a decision on your permanent visa application, please ensure that you advise the Department of your contact details as failure to respond to requests for information can lead to a refusal of your application and the ceasing of your current visa"

Sorry just found this on immi info document.

  8. I applied for my Temporary Partner visa 2 years ago this month. I am now waiting for immigration to contact me to apply for my Permanent Partner Visa. I have gathered further information which I will need for this. Am I right in thinking that I have to wait for them to ask for this info because my original application and my wife's sponsorship application online there does not seem to be any way I can submit more info on our original forms?

  9. Hi everyone. I am seeking information regarding visitor/tourist /family sponsor visa 600 information. If anyone know anything related to this please ,please share.

let me explain my situation first

Me n my wife both are permanent residence. My wife doesn't has any job now, she is 6 months pregnant now.my mother in law wants to come over here from Bangladesh to look after my wife on delivery time, which is due on feb-2017 for 45-60 days.

    My queries are-

    1. Which exact visa subclass I should apply for and which form/s will requires for that?

    2. Should I or my wife apply from my immi account for my mother-in-law?in that case any additional form need to be filled up by the applicant?

    3. How many days earlier should I apply?

4.So far I know , if I apply for family sponsored visa ,CO might ask for upto $15000 as bond.in that case, can I use my credit card and get refund to my savings account?

    5. Does she needs a medical insurance for those days?

6.Here is the list which I am planning to arrange, please correct me if I don't need some of these or need to add any other documents-

a.Mother in laws passport , national id , birth certificate, property owner documents, police clearance

    b. Photograph

    c.filled up application form/online form

d.my wife's pr +passport, public exam certificate where her moms name on it

e.doctors report mentioning baby's due date

f.our marriage certificate, my bank statement, my payslip, invitation letter

    Thank you

You might be better off posting this on a new thread rather than tagging on the end of one discussing criminal records. Just a thought.

  10. Really? Well I can assure you that I'm not, but I don't know if you are going to believe me. I've only just plucked up the courage to reach out for some help on here after spending months just browsing through posts. I'm sure you can well remember how overwhelming it is at the start of the application process, I was only looking for a little bit of help and reassurance along the way :(

Have sent you a private message through this forum.

  11. WRussell is pointing out, rightly so I might add, that in Australia only registered migration agents are legally allowed to provide migration advice and that other people can be fined for doing the same. There are several migration agents who kindly post regularly on this forum and give general guidance - it's unfortunate they don't get more appreciation.

    Hi Maggie,

It does state in the rules and regs that WR so kindly pointed out in great detail!! and in the DIBP Partner Migration booklet that close family members can provide immigration advice so long as they do not charge a fee for their services.
