  1. Has anyone tried swapping houses, we have a house in Ellesmere near Kingaroy Queensland. 3 bed furnished, vehicles excetra.  9acres ,Wanting to move to UK would sell complete for $240,000 or $225,000 empty on extras. Or consider exchange. For 2/3 bed house UK.

  2. Probably a strange question but I am totally clueless when it come to tech. My moving company want my mobile number on the boxes as I won't have a landline. My phone is UK but I'm moving to Aus next week(EEK!) my mob starts with 07 sometimes it drops the 0 and starts 447 what will it be? and will it differ for people phoning from UK and those in Aus? so do I drop the 0 and add the prequel code for Aust whatever it is?

  3. Good for you, we have had our house sale fall through twice! now it has sold again but in a chain we are all sorted but the person buying my purchasers house hasn't gien their four weeks notice on their rental yet and we have to be in aussie 14 Dec! may have to go byself and hubby follow not the best start. Que sera sera.

  4. I never heard of this before but my mum said it was on "Rip of Britain" that if you get connecting flights you have to have Transfer visas for the countries you change planes in. Is this true? surely that would just be if you intended leaving the airport. Not sure of route yet neither change at dubai or paris then china. We are on mixed British and Australian passports. Please advise.

  5. You need to fill in the form that accompanies the import permit and get your vet to fill it in

Or maybe email quarantine and ask what they will and will not feed My understanding is they feed kibble

How far in are you with getting through all the requirements etc

Not far wasn't planning on taking her as trying to rehome but been blind and on a special diet struggling. We are planing to move as soon as the house sells hopefully this summer unfortunately this means we are way out on timings having only had her rabbies done and passport issued the other day and needing 7 months. Fortunately my stepson has said he won't take her perminantly but will look after her to send her out to us. We have tried loads of dog charities and the vet did give us somemore to try.
  6. We are looking at moving to Melbourne and selling our house in the UK and initially renting before buying in Melbourne. I am not particularly attached to any of the furniture I have in the UK but would like to bring some personal belongings - photos etc.

How much should we consider bringing - I wondered about selling everything in the UK and then buying things as we need them in Melbourne.

This may be a daft question but I know that Clarks school shoes are more expensive in Australia and with three children wondered about buying some in the sales in the UK and bringing with us - are there certain styles that children need to have or is it just black school shoes or does it depend on the school they go to? My eldest daughter wears a size 9G adult shoe and is so limited here that I wondered about bringing a year or two's supplies with us.

Would be great to hear of what others have done and what has worked out for you.

    Thanks.

Hi not in oz so can't comment on price of items but look at a few schools in the area you want to locate too. I've looked at about 6 schools in Queensland and they all specify black lace up plimsols don't know if it's the same in Melbourne but got to be cheaper than Clarks.

  7. It's a very stressful time for you both. He's probably just worried that seeing your family will change your mind or at the least make it a harder more emotional time for You. He might feel guilty about dragging you away from your family even though it is a decision you made together, He still might feel like the bad guy. Take care Air hugx

  8.

hi just another quick question...do you know where to get the photos done as uk photo booths are not acceptable? thanks
we Have ours done at Max spielman make sure you tell them it's for Australia. They Take your photo using a manual digital camera and them put the code for Australia into the photo machine. It cost £7.50 each and we got 6 prints but they took photos until we were happy much easier with children.
  9. Well I've been on the site for about an hour looking for where it lists the cities and can't find it. But if your quote lists the place your going you're ok. I orginally asked them to clarify that it isn't door to door service other than city destinations and they simply sent a quote for for door to port. I emailed them again yesterday to get a straight answer but not replied. I have done a quote for boxes now instead and this is door to door and if I'm frugal with my packing cheaper.

I have had a courteous reply from seven seas apologising but stating in my case door to port only available on move cube.

  11. The online quote calculator gives 2 large boxes as £119...but the there's another charge in AUD that says chargeable at destination. For Tassie it's another £170ish !! Crikey , is it worth sending anything!?

Don't say that you'e sounding like my hubby ! nothing but the clothes on our backs if it was up to him.

  12. Try looking at a few school websites for the area you are looking. Also the type of school you want I found this very useful My daughter excels at spanish but all the schools I looked at either do Japanese, Chinese or German. I don't know if that is the same in WA but if he's good at language it might be a bonus to study an asian language if you do return to the UK he'll have a skill his peers won't
