  1. It does yep. Not least because they *literally* come in and pack. You don't have to do anything...they even deal with all the customs paperwork at the other end and will deliver it to your door (and even unpack it/take the packaging away if you request that). My parents have used them all 3 times we've moved back and forth between the UK & Australia and will be using them for the forth time in August this year when we move to Australia again xx

  2. We fly out in just under 6 weeks so I feel all your anxiety/excitement! We're leaving Tibshelf (where my bf lives)/Wirksworth (where I live) in Derbyshire.

In the last couple of days I've started sorting out silly/small things like changing addresses of bank accounts and points cards etc as well as my drivers licence (which btw can now be renewed online for £14 and they can also use your passport photo/signature for it too!!) so I don't have to worry about any post coming to my old address and once I've got all that sorted then I'll be moving onto sorting out my packing (we're getting anglo pacific in to do most of it so I just need to sort out bits and pieces/if anything is staying etc).

I handed in my resignation at work last Friday (10th July) and since doing that it's all become very real very quickly lol. My bf has already finished at his work (long story but basically he's got lots of stuff to sort at home, packing to do and a holiday with his mates to go on as well before we leave).

We'll be flying into Melbourne and then going up to Mansfield in Victoria to stay with my aunt a few days until we can get somewhere sorted...at this rate it'll all be here before we know it lol xx

  3. We've gone with Anglo Pacific; used them all other times we've moved back and forth between the UK and Australia (this will be our 5th time moving back to Australia!) And can't fault them at all...they're freight forwarders as well as movers/packers so all aspects of it is done in house meaning costs are lower on your part :D in fact on this occasion once our container is packed it's sealed up and then shipped straight to the port at Felixstowe to be sent on the next ship...next time it's opened is when it arrives in Melbourne xx

  4. This is my first post after lurking for a while. I submitted my partner visa on Sunday and am in the process of uploading all my documents the same as you, Bound4Tassie.

I do have one question: does anyone know the best document category to use for our personal statements? I haven't yet found an appropriate one.

When it's been witnessed (because it does need to be as well as being included in the application) then upload it to show different areas of the application such as financial status or living arrangements etc. we uploaded ours something like 4 or 5 times each and it must have been ok because my bf ended up getting subclass 100 :D xx

  5. Hello everyone, we are putting in our visas next week, I am an Aussie and sponsoring my OH ,my kids will go with descendants of an Aussie so will have Aussie passports, it looks like from all replies that the visas are granted after the 10mth mark, but question for you all, when it is granted how long is the deadline to leave the UK, as we are unsure when to put the house on the market ? Can you do the medical and police before they ask for them and then send them in or do you have to wait for them to say when to go in , any help would be much appreciated

We applied for my bf's visa in May last year (when it was an 8-9 month waiting period) and did the medical and police checks within a month of submitting the application so you can do them all at the start then just upload all the other documents you think your CO might need then too...if they want anything else they'll let you know (we were asked for more financial records going all the way back to 2012) either when they do their initial contact email to you, or further down the line after that.

In terms of the deadline, it's usually around the time that the medical or police certificate runs out depending on which is dated the latest. I say usually tho because in my bf's case he has until 3rd September to arrive in Australia but his medical was done at the end of May 2014 and his police certificate was done in early June 2014, so it is also down to the CO's own discretion/your specific situation. In terms of putting your house up for sale, I'd say contact an estate agent in your area to see how long houses around you take on average to sell, then you can take it from there. Also see if you can put a clause in the contract that the house isn't available until you have your visa? It's a long shot to do that of course, and indeed some home buyers may be put off by it, but the rate at which UK solicitors and surveyors go at I think you'd be ok to put something like that into the contract lol

Anything else you want to know, just ask...it's what we're all here for; to help and advise each other [emoji2] Also I have a word document template that I did for when me and my bf did our stat decs about our relationship that I can send you if you want? If you do want it then just drop me a pm with your email address and I'll get it sent straight over to you xx

  6. VISA GRANTED!!!!! Wahoo!!!! Straight to a subclass 100 :) That's 8 days short of 10 months - we applied on 28th july and were quoted 10-14 months.

Cant wait to get there now, we fly on August 26th and are heading for country vic. Exciting times!

Congrats! We got the subclass 100 too (back in February) and fly out 24th August...we'll also be going to country Victoria [emoji2] xx

  7. We're flying with Etihad also but via abu dhabi then straight into melbourne mid august and it worked out at around £490 per person one way xx

Edit: we also booked directly with the airline but used Skyscanner to give us an idea of prices xx

  8. Um...get over it? Sorry but year 11 can be repeated, and indeed you'll have to repeat it if you want your VCE.

Also I'm sorry but yes it is your parents fault as others have said for not ensuring they made the application in plenty of time so you wouldn't have to leave the country to get the visa renewed; you're under the age of 18 so in Australia you're their responsibility.

It might be stressful but sorry; as Frank Sinatra said, that's life.

  9. I went to school both in the UK and Australia...and whilst the Aussie education system is probably about 6 months behind the UK one, I'd say the Australian system is better as it gives a more rounded education. Looking back on it now I'm actually really glad I completed school in Australia as I know I wouldn't be where I am today without the support I received at school xx

  10. Oh and regarding the online application also; try to get it front loaded where possible with everything you think they may want to prove your relationship. Photos are easy to do, documents like phone bills etc; not so much. Oh and find a solicitor who will witness your documents also; makes it easier to upload them without any further questions as to your identity from your CO.

  11. Hi guys, another question..

My partner (applicant from UK) and I are looking to apply online for the Offshore Partner Visa (309/100) in the next couple of weeks. Is there a limit to the amount/size of documents/photos you can attach in the online application form?

The reasons I ask is that we have about 100 documents and photographs (each around 5MB max) that need to be attached and didn't want to be caught out at the last minute having to decide which ones to cull if there was in fact a size limit.

I understand there is a 14 day window to submit everything. Does anybody have anything relevant to share regarding my question or the whole online application process itself?

    Thanks a lot!

    B

We didn't upload any photos at all, other than the official ones requested for the application. They seemed to be more interested in things like bank statements, phone bills and proofs of holidays together (email any companies you've been on holiday through, explain that you need proof for your visa application and they'll send you a letter/invoice confirming it); basically the general nitty gritty of the relationship. If you attach things like photos then they'll just get annoyed with you :( Oh and make sure your statutory declarations include EVERYTHING that relates to your relationship...if you want I can email you a template I made up based on the statutory declarations me and my bf did?
